Muted AI, ‘Liquid Glass' and live translation: All the latest updates from Apple's iOS 26

Apple showcased its latest technology at its annual developers conference on Monday, showing off a new 'Liquid Glass' software design, a solution to screen out spam texts, and demonstrated it was in no rush to bring out more artificial intelligence (AI) features.
But the latest software features will not be available for several months until iOS 26 (rebranded from iOS 19) is officially released.
Here is our roundup of the latest announcements from WWDC 2025.
At last year's conference, Apple announced a more personalised AI-powered Siri. However, this year Apple only mentioned Siri very briefly.
'As we've shared, we're continuing our work to deliver the features that make Siri even more personal,' said Craig Federighi, Apple's SVP of Software Engineering.
'This work needed more time to reach our high-quality bar, and we look forward to sharing more about it in the coming year'.

However, Apple did say that AI would be integrated into some products with a focus on making our lives easier.
Apple's WWDC comes just after Google unveiled AI updates at its developer conference last month. Samsung may also announce new phones in July.
'While it might seem others are leading the AI race, it is not a sought-after feature among users and there's no revenue uplift (for now),' tech analyst Paolo Pescatore told Euronews Next.
'Considering the negative perception, Apple needs to tread carefully not to frustrate and disappoint its loyal base of iPhone users'.
But he said that the latest updates provide a more coherent feel and 'Apple remains in an enviable position' given its large installed base of users.
Apple is expected to reveal its latest iPhones later this year.
Apple Watch is getting a new, AI-enhanced 'Workout Buddy' feature. The new tool analyses users' exercise and fitness data, such as pace and distance to then make personalised recommendations.

The demo showed a runner having data such as their heart rate during each kilometre and the distance they run that year at their fingertips. The feature will include other sports too.
The biggest design update is a glass-inspired aesthetic to all Apple products.
Called 'Liquid Glass' it makes icons and menus partially transparent.
Apple said it retracts light and dynamically reacts to your movement with specular highlights.
Apple announced users would soon be able to screen out new senders in its messaging app.
'Unknown senders appear in a dedicated area where you can decide if you want to mark the numbers as known, ask for more information, or delete,' said Darin Adler, a vice president at Apple.

'Until you accept, messages from unknown senders will remain silenced and won't appear as notifications'.
Apple also announced that you will soon be able to create in-message polls.
The tech giant also announced that its users will soon be able to converse with people in different languages with a Live Translation feature.
'Live Translation can translate conversations on the fly. It's integrated into messages, FaceTime and phone,' said Leslie Ikemoto, an engineering director at Apple.
It will work in phone calls, even with a non-Apple responder; your words can be translated as you talk, and the translation is spoken out loud for the call recipient.
And when the person you are speaking to responds in their own language, you'll hear a spoken translation of their voice.
In messages, it automatically translates the text for you as you type and deliver while the response can be instantly translated.

On FaceTime, Apple Translate provides live captions in your preferred language.
Apple has not said how many languages it will support.
Overall, the 'subtle addition of Apple Intelligence across key services will help grow awareness and provide users with confidence to drive further engagement,' said Pescatore.
'The tight integration between hardware, software and services really stands out with this latest move'.
'It looks like Apple has done enough in what promises to be a year of transition as it further builds out its AI capabilities,' he added.

iOS 26 — Apple Unveils New Wallet Feature To Verify Your ID Online

Another new iOS 26 feature has emerged courtesy of Apple-focused site MacRumors — a Verify with ... More Wallet on the Web option. Apple's iOS 26 is shaping up to be a major update to the iPhone maker's operating system, with a bunch of cool new features announced on June 9 at its Worldwide Developer's Conference. Some people don't like the look of iOS 26, which comes with a new design language called Liquid Glass. However, iOS 26 looks like it will be very capable, with headline features including enhancements to Apple Intelligence AI features and the ability to screen calls and messages. Now, another new iOS 26 feature has emerged courtesy of Apple-focused site MacRumors — a Verify with Wallet on the Web option. This new iOS 26 feature works exactly in the way it sounds: You will be able to use your state-issued license or digital ID to verify your age and identity online in a secure way when doing things such as buying liquor or renting a car. In practice, this means you don't have to upload your photo ID such as your passport, which contains details such as your date of birth and name, to a website. Apple's iOS 26 feature can verify your identity instead and the iPhone maker will also inform you of how the data will be used and let you know if the information will be stored by the site. The whole process is protected by end-to-end encryption, the gold standard of security which means no one can see your data, including Apple, the website and the government. This capability is already possible in apps, but Apple is expanding it to the web through support for the W3C Digital Credentials API and the FIDO CTAP protocol, MacRumors explains. From iOS 26, the web-based ID verification feature will work in Safari across all your Apple devices, as well as in other browser apps and via operating systems that offer support. The Digital ID feature in iOS 26 allows you to store state issued IDs and licenses as well as passports to verify yourself online. Other features include the ability to scan a QR code on your iPhone and authenticate via Face ID to share your Digital Wallet information with a website. Meanwhile, Apple will add support for third party apps that support licenses. The Verify with Wallet on the Web feature in iOS 26 ensures you can't use fake IDs by ensuring they are cryptographically signed. The iPhone maker has announced the initial apps that will support Verify with Wallet on the Web, including Uber Eats, Turo and U.S. Bank. At the same time, Arizona MVD, Georgia DDS and Maryland MVA will add support for their digital ID apps, MacRumors says. Apple's iOS 26 will be available this Fall, when Apple launches its new iPhone devices.

Logitech takes aim at the iPad's Magic Keyboard with its new Flip Folio case

Logitech has announced a brand new case/keyboard combo for the iPad Pro and iPad Air that could make you think twice about picking up that Magic Keyboard accessory. The Logitech Flip Folio is the brand's newest creation and comes in four different colors with compatibility for Apple's 11- and 13-inch tablets. The real draw of the Flip Folio is the full-size Bluetooth keyboard that attaches magnetically to the back of the case when you're not using it. The keyboard has a compact design, but still offers full-size keys and is geared specifically for the iPad, with iPad OS function keys along the top. It's like being able to stick a version of Logitech's Keys-to-Go 2 keyboard onto your iPad with you wherever you roam. Although it's not backlit, the keyboard boasts a two-year battery life and can pair with multiple devices, letting you switch quickly between your iPad and up to two other devices (like your phone — whether Android or iOS), via the three colored keys at the top. The Flip Folio case itself also has a small little lip at the crease of the fold, so when the cover is tucked backwards, you can position your iPad in portrait mode and still have space on the lip to rest your phone next to it. The case is made from a minimum of 37% certified post-consumer recycled plastic while Logitech says the aluminium in the design is produced using 'low-carbon processes'. 'We've designed Flip Folio to make the iPad experience both fun and functional, helping you stay focused on what matters,' said Joseph Mingori, GM of mobile and audio solutions at Logitech. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. 'Flip Folio enhances everyday experiences — from binge watching to checking your social media or emails — by delivering portability and connectivity.' The Flip Folio is compatible with the 11-inch M4 and 13-inch M4 iPad Pro as well as the 11-inch M2 and M3 and 13-inch M2, M3 and 5th Gen iPad Air. Not all colors are available immediately and some are only in select regions. The Graphite is the only shade available globally and launches today, while the 'Pale Grey' and 'Lilac' options are coming in September in selected regions. Two more colors, "Black" and "Sand", are exclusive to North America. The former is launching in June with the latter also arriving in September. The Flip Folio is priced at £179.99 for the 13-inch iPad Pro and iPad Air models and £159.99 for the 11-inch iPad Pro and iPad Air models. We are waiting for confirmation on a U.S. price and will update this article as soon as we receive it.

Logitech's New Flip Folio Case And Keyboard For iPad Makes Work Much More Fun

The new Logitech Flip Folio is made for iPads and iPad Pros. The combination of case and keyboards ... More is a flexible way of working with a tablet. According to recent research carried out for keyboard and mouse maker Logitech, most iPad owners use their devices for entertainment about 80% of the time. For the other 20% of the time, the iPad is used for work when the user is out of the office or away on vacation. An iPad is a lighter and more convenient alternative to a laptop and for many people has more than enough power. To address this pattern of split usage by many iPad owners, Swiss keyboard and mouse giant Logitech has designed a new keyboard and case specifically for Apple's iPad Pro (11-inch M4, 13-inch M4) and iPad Air (11-inch M2 & M3, 13-inch M2 & M3 and 5th Gen). The Logitech Flip Folio has a protective case and a multi-angle kickstand for setting at variable viewing angles. The Flip Folio's compact case keeps the iPad safe and includes a separate Bluetooth keyboard that can attach magnetically to the protective case. The Flip Folio from Logitech has a separate keyboard instead of a flat version that's permanently ... More attached to the case. There is a multi-angle kickstand on the case to make viewing easier. The design of the Flip Folio is different from many case and keyboard combos for iPads because the separate and full-sized keyboard can be positioned wherever the user needs it instead of insisting it is part of the case. 'We've designed Flip Folio to make the iPad experience both fun and functional,' says Joseph Mingori, the general manager of mobile and audio solutions at Logitech. 'Flip Folio enhances everyday experiences–from binge-watching to checking social media or emails—by delivering portability and connectivity, setting people free so they can do what they love from anywhere.' When not in use, the Flip Folio's keyboard magnetically snaps to the back of the protective case for convenient storage. The case provides plenty of protection for the front and back of an iPad, making it suitable for use on the move. With the case in place, the iPad and keyboard can be tucked under an arm or stowed away in a work bag. Logitech's Flip Folio has a separate keyboard that's more comfortable to use than a flat and fixed ... More keyboard case. The Flip Folio is powered by a small CR2016 lithium button cell which can last for up to two years before it needs replacing. This power source enables the keyboard to be slim and compact. And because there's no rechargeable battery, there's no need for a USB port. Instead, the keyboard can be paired with up to three different devices letting users switch seamlessly between three Bluetooth devices such as an iPad, iPhone or MacBook. The Logitech Flip Folio is designed with sustainability in mind and includes a minimum of 37% certified post-consumer recycled plastic for the Graphite and Midnight Black models, providing a useful second life to end-of-use plastics. The Flip Folio will initially be available globally in Graphite. A Midnight Black version will be on sale in North America at launch. Pale Grey and Lilac colorways will launch in September 2025 across select markets, while a Sand option will go on sale from September 2025 in selected regions. The aluminum used in the Flip Folio is made with low-carbon aluminum while the product's packaging is made from paper that's sourced from FSC-certified and controlled sources. The Flip Folio folds flat and the magnetic keyboard stows away by magnetically attaching to the ... More closed case. The Logitech Flip Folio is priced at $179.99 / £179.99 / €199 for 13-inch iPad Pro and iPad Air models. The version for 11-inch iPad Pro and iPad Air models will sell for $159.99 / £159.99 / €179.
