Woman charged over daughter's murder taken to hospital
A mother accused of fatally stabbing her three-year-old daughter has been rushed to hospital after being found unresponsive.
Lauren Ingrid Flanigan, 32, was found unresponsive in her cell at Brisbane Women's Correctional Centre on Friday night, police said.
Queensland's Corrective Services said officers had responded to Flanigan suffering a medical emergency.
Paramedics were called and transported the woman to the hospital.
"Support is being offered to the responding officers and their colleagues," corrective services said in a statement.
Police Minister Dan Purdie said the matter, which is "still unfolding", is under investigation by the Corrective Services Investigation Unit.
"It's awfully sad, the whole circumstance of the situation, and that matter is under investigation," he told reporters in Brisbane on Saturday.
Flanigan was being held in custody until her next court appearance in July after being charged with murder on Monday.
Neighbours had called triple-zero after seeing a young child unresponsive in the front yard of a Moore Park Beach home, north of Bundaberg, about 4.45pm.
When emergency services arrived at the home, they found a three-year-old girl, identified as Flanigan's daughter Sophia Rose, with several wounds.
She died at the scene.
A crime scene was established at the property, where police seized a knife.
Police had said two other children, aged one and two, were also at the property at the time, but neither was injured.
Both are in the care of their father.
Acting Superintendent Brad Inskip said at the time that mental health and any prior interactions with police would likely form part of the investigation.
Supt Inskip said first responders had encountered a "horrific" scene.
"It's a terrible, terrible incident for everybody," he said on Tuesday.
A GoFundMe has been established for the children and their father, with more than $48,000 raised.
Family friend Connor Thompson, who has organised the fundraiser, remembered Sophia as a sweet child with an infectious laugh that could light up the room.
"Her smile was like a ray of sunshine and her heart was as pure of gold," the fundraiser said.
"Sophia always wanted to help and was the best big sister to her baby brother and sister.
"Though her time here was short, the love she gave and the joy she shared will stay with us forever."

‘Suspicious': Mum demands answers over young miner's sudden Bali death
A grieving Queensland mother is demanding answers after her 23-year-old son died suddenly in Bali under what she describes as 'suspicious' circumstances. Byron Haddow, a FIFO worker from the Sunshine Coast, died in his private villa last Monday while holidaying on the Indonesian island. As questions swirl around Haddow's sudden death, his mother, Chantal, says no one wants answers more than she does. 'We are still chasing answers as to how our fit healthy 23 yr old son wound up dead in his private villa,' she wrote on social media. 'No, it wasn't a scooter accident. No, it wasn't his first time in Bali either!' 'We believe it's suspicious and are going through the avenues to get it investigated,' she said, explaining that the process is likely to delay her son's return home as well as the release of any associated funds. Chantal has commented on friends' posts about Byron's sudden death, writing 'I'm broken' alongside crying and broken heart emojis. Rebecca Haddow Pohlner, Byron's aunt, said despite her nephew having travel insurance, 'it's going to take 6 to 8 weeks for that to come about and even then, they will find any loophole they can'. 'We Just want him home where he belongs so my sister in law and brother, can move forward to grieve this beautiful human my nephew, absolute legend of a boy who had the biggest heart,' she said. The cause of Haddow's death is still unknown. Credit: Supplied Just before his death, Haddow had posted Instagram stories from Beachwalk Shopping Centre and The Coffee Club in Legian. Tributes have poured in for the much-loved miner. 'Byron was the funny, kind and considerate friend that you could always count on,' one commented. 'I can't remember how many years it's been since I met him, but I know it's been many years of love and laughter. 'He was the type of guy to give the shirt off his back. 'Rest in peace Bizz, I seriously can't believe you're not here anymore. I love you bro.' The GoFundMe page set up to help bring Haddow home has raised more than $34,000 as of Monday. Two teens found shot dead in forest days into vacation
Two teenage friends have been found dead with gunshot wounds in a remote section of an American national forest less than a week into their summer vacation. Police have launched a major investigation after the bodies of Pandora Kjolsrud, 18, and Evan Clark, 17, were discovered in Arizona's Tonto National Forest on May 27. Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said the deaths are being treated as suspicious and have been listed as homicides. 'At this time, the circumstances surrounding their deaths are being treated as suspicious,' Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez said. A spokesperson added: 'MCSO is seeking the community's assistance. If you have any information — no matter how small — that may be relevant to this case, we strongly encourage you to come forward. Your help could be critical in bringing answers and justice to the victims and their families. You may remain anonymous.' Pandora and Evan became friends after attending the same high school together. Evan's mum Sandra Sweeney said she can't imagine a life without her 'funny, bright, kind and entrepreneurial' son. 'She was a beautiful human being and a bright light in this world who loved every single person she met and had a unique ability to make every person feel special,' a GoFundMe set up to raise funds for her family stated. 'She loved music in all of its forms and enjoyed playing violin, cello and guitar. The outdoors is where she truly felt at home. She loved camping, horseback riding, kayaking and hiking with friends and family.' Both Pandora and Evan's fundraisers have raised more than $20,000 USD for the teens' families.
