Australia's star batsman Steve Smith may possibly play his last Test match at Lord's Cricket Ground. Smith's performance at Lord's has always been excellent and now he has a golden opportunity to become the highest run-scoring foreign batsman (non-English) here. He needs only 51 runs to make this record. Australia will take on South Africa in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 final starting on June 11. Smith faces the challenge of three giants
Australia's Warren Bardsley tops this list. The left-handed batsman has scored 575 runs in seven innings at an average of 115, including two centuries and two half-centuries. In his last Test, he scored an unbeaten 193 at Lord's.
Smith will have to leave behind many giants to reach this record. In second place is West Indies' great all-rounder Gary Sobers, who has scored 571 runs in nine innings at an average of 95.16, including two centuries and two half-centuries. In third place is Australia's Sir Don Bradman, who is considered the greatest batsman in the world. He has scored 551 runs in eight innings at an average of 78.71, including two centuries and a half-century. Smith's performance at Lord's
Steve Smith is fourth on this list. He has scored 525 runs in nine innings at an average of 58.33, including two centuries and two half-centuries. His last Test match at Lord's was in Ashes 2023, in which he scored 110 runs in the first innings and Australia defeated hosts England by 43 runs. In 2015 too, he scored a double century at Lord's and Australia won that Test by a huge margin of 405 runs. Lord's – Smith's second favorite ground
Ahead of the WTC 2025 final, Smith revealed that Lord's is his second favorite ground after Sydney. He also made a funny comment before the match.
He said, 'I think this is my favorite ground after Sydney. Both its history and surface are special. It takes a few balls to adjust to the slope here. At one end it feels like you are standing very high and at the other end it feels like you are falling. But the ball goes fast in both directions.'
Smith also likes Lord's lunch
Smith also said in a conversation with ESPNcricinfo, 'And then the lunch here is great. People say that this is a ground where you can enjoy lunch if you are not able to score runs. Fortunately or unfortunately, I have performed quite well here in the last few years, so I have not been able to enjoy lunch as much.'

The WTC 2025 final between South Africa and Australia promises to be a nail-biting contest at the Home of Cricket, and it will be too early to predict which team is going to win the title. Well, according to tournament rules, if the WTC 2025 final ends in a draw or tie or gets abandoned, then Australia and South Africa will have to share the WTC trophy. MS Dhoni among seven others inducted into ICC's Hall of Fame

LONDON: Former India captain MS Dhoni was on Monday inducted into the ICC's Hall of Fame for the year 2025 along with Australian great Matthew Hayden and South Africa's Hashim Amla. The International Cricket Council (ICC) will be inducting seven cricketers 'five men and two women' in its Hall of Fame 2025. "Celebrated for his calm under pressure and unmatched tactical nous, but also a trailblazer in the shorter formats, MS Dhoni's legacy as one of the game's greatest finishers, leaders and wicketkeepers has been honoured with his induction into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame," said the ICC statement. "With 17,266 international runs, 829 dismissals and 538 matches across formats for India, Dhoni's numbers reflect not just excellence but extraordinary consistency, fitness and longevity," it said. Dhoni, who led India to the T20 World Cup win in 2007, ODI World Cup victory in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2013, said in a statement shared by the governing body that, "It is an honour to be named in the ICC Hall of Fame, which recognises the contributions of cricketers across generations and from all over the world." "To have your name remembered alongside such all-time greats is a wonderful feeling. It is something that I will cherish forever."
