Abu Dhabi-based IHC to acquire stake in $10bn Indian snack food major Haldiram
New York-based Alpha Wave Global is another international investor in the latest round of Haldiram Snacks Food, it said.
'Haldirams, India's leading snack and food brand, is pleased to announce the addition of two new investors, IHC (International Holding Company) and Alpha Wave Global, to its ongoing equity round, following Temasek's recent participation,' said the company in the official statement cited in a PTI report.
Abu Dhabi's IHC invests in Haldiram
The announcement comes close on the heels of Singapore's Temasek's move to acquire a 10 percent stake in Haldiram, reportedly for around $1bn (Rs85bn), valuing the company at $10bn.
Though the financial details of the equity acquisition deals with IHC and Alpha Wave Global were not disclosed, media reports suggested the combined investment of the two could be in the region of about $70m for a six percent equity stake in the Indian snacks major – a popular household name in North India.
A company spokesperson told Reuters that the partnership [with the new investors] represents patient capital and long-term support to Haldirams' growth plans.
With the backing of IHC and Alpha Wave Global, Haldirams is said to be set to leverage the vast expertise and networks of these investors to broaden its footprint in key international markets such as the Middle East and the US.
These markets which demonstrate growing demand for Indian cuisine and snacks, will be the primary focus areas in the company's global expansion strategy, it said.
With this partnership, the company is well-positioned to enhance its product offerings, expand its operations, and further its mission to make Haldirams a household name in Middle East and other international markets, according to a spokesperson, as cited in media reports.
Started in Bikaner, Rajasthan, in 1937, the snack giant's impressive product portfolio comprises more than 400 items, including traditional namkeens, western snacks, Indian sweets, cookies, sherbets, pickles and more.

Switzerland's Leonteq Partners with Emirates Islamic on Shari'a-Compliant Structured Products
Leonteq, a Zurich-based fintech company, announced today the formation of a partnership with Emirates Islamic, a financial institution in the UAE, to manufacture and distribute Shari'a-compliant structured products. The collaboration builds on Leonteq's strategic move into the Gulf region. In 2022, the firm introduced a Shari'a-compliant trust certificate issuance programme through IBDAA Certificate Issuer (IBDAA), a dedicated Islamic issuance vehicle. Amanie Advisors, a recognised Shari'a advisory firm, has been engaged by Leonteq to provide guidance on the Shari'a aspects of the programme and subsequent initiatives involving IBDAA. Under this partnership, Emirates Islamic will co-develop certain trust certificates issued by IBDAA and offer these products through its distribution network. Leonteq will support the initiative by providing a full range of services, including issuance arrangements, Shari'a-compliant hedging, and lifecycle management. This collaboration marks a notable development in the Islamic structured product space, bringing together Leonteq's capabilities in investment solutions, structuring, and technology with Emirates Islamic's market presence, credit standing (rated A+ by Fitch), and reach in the UAE wealth management sector. Clients of Emirates Islamic will gain access to investment solutions that were previously limited in availability or scale. These products will be issued via IBDAA, which is among the first Islamic issuance entities able to offer a broad range of payoff structures across various asset classes, supported by automation and flexible investment thresholds. Christian Spieler, CEO of Leonteq, commented: 'We are proud to partner with Emirates Islamic, a top tier institution in the Middle East. This collaboration will allow clients of Emirates Islamic to benefit from Leonteq's longstanding expertise in white-labelling solutions and marks a milestone for Leonteq's growth ambitions in the Middle East.' Farid AlMulla, CEO of Emirates Islamic, said: 'We have always endeavoured to offer Islamic solutions that make a difference in the lives of our customers and beyond. This new partnership will enable our clients, in particular, to benefit from an even bigger product universe that further enhances their investment choices and access to global markets.' Emirates Islamic, a member of the Emirates NBD Group, was established in 2004. It offers a wide range of Shari'a-compliant retail, business, and corporate banking services through a network of 40 branches across the UAE.

UK Fintech OpenTrade Secures £5.5M to Boost Stablecoin Yield Services
OpenTrade, a London-based fintech infrastructure provider, has closed a £5.5 million funding round, led by Notion Capital and Mercury Fund, raising its total capital to around £8.5 million since inception. The investment is earmarked to scale its build-out of real-world asset-backed stablecoin yield services across high-inflation markets in Latin America and Europe. OpenTrade embeds 'yield-as-a-service' into fintech apps, allowing users to earn interest on USD and EUR stablecoins—rates that significantly outperform traditional banking options. Fintech clients such as Criptan in Spain and Littio in Colombia now offer yields up to 9%, compared with local bank APRs of under 0.5%. Co-founders Dave Sutter, Jeff Handler, and Tom Niermann have close links to USDC's Centre consortium and hold decades of digital assets experience. They launched OpenTrade in early 2024 to address demand from emerging markets, where inflation erodes savings and dollar-denominated banking returns are negligible. The platform has since managed approximately $47 million in assets and processed nearly $200 million in transaction volume, growing at an average of 20% month-over-month. ADVERTISEMENT The round also saw participation from a16z crypto, AlbionVC, and CMCC Global, reflecting continued investor confidence. OpenTrade intends to direct the funds towards enhancing its technological capabilities, supporting growth in client-facing applications, and broadening its product suite to include a wider range of real-world asset-backed instruments. The company's timing aligns with a broader surge in stablecoin infrastructure. Globally, stablecoin transaction volumes now exceed $20 trillion annually—outpacing conventional payment systems such as Visa, Mastercard, and PayPal. For fintech firms in emerging economies, embedding stablecoin yields into everyday platforms is reshaping perceptions of crypto, transforming digital currencies from purely transactional tools into accessible savings vehicles. Argentina and Colombia exemplify this shift. Dollar accounts are rare, and where available, yields are negligible. In Colombia, dollar-denominated APRs are below 0.4%, while Littio users, through OpenTrade, attract up to 6%. Spain's Criptan offers up to 9% in EUR stablecoin returns—generating user traction by outperforming traditional savings products. Despite the rapid uptake of stablecoins, mainstream users in many regions face roadblocks: regulatory frameworks for safe yield generation have lagged behind adoption. OpenTrade bridges this gap by offering compliant real-world asset backing and embedded yield capabilities, supporting regulatory alignment while extending market reach. This funding arrives amid a regulatory pivot in Europe. The Financial Conduct Authority plans to unveil discussion papers on stablecoin issuance and custody in Q4 2025, aligning with the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets framework. OpenTrade's growth strategy demonstrates fintechs' ambition to navigate both innovation and regulation in stablecoin infrastructure. Fintech founders view embedded stablecoin yield as essential for financial inclusion. Sutter has emphasized that stablecoins have become crypto's 'killer app' and that over a third of Latin American consumers have used them for purchases. OpenTrade is positioned as an enabler: the platform supports deposits, withdrawals, and yield generation directly within existing fintech interfaces. Investor sentiment adds context. Notion Capital's Itxaso del Palacio remarked that the $240 billion stablecoin market needs robust infrastructure. Mercury Fund's Samantha Lewis described OpenTrade as 'core financial infrastructure for the next generation of fintech'. These endorsements highlight confidence in both OpenTrade's leadership and market relevance. Looking ahead, OpenTrade aims to expand its reach over the next 12–18 months. Key areas include launching new yield products, incorporating diverse asset classes, and enhancing the user experience for fintech clients. The vision is to become the go-to partner for compliant stablecoin yield solutions, competing across developed and emerging economies where rising inflation, currency volatility, and limited access to traditional deposits persist.

US firms launch ETF to capitalize on Trump's deregulation push
A group of three investment management firms teamed up to launch an exchange-traded fund that will invest in companies they expect to benefit from deregulation and free capital markets, the partners in the venture said on Tuesday. The Free Markets ETF, which began trading on the NYSE on Tuesday, will invest in companies in any industry and of any size that its managers think are likely to benefit from the pursuit of deregulation by President Donald Trump in his second administration. "I started thinking about this last summer when the Supreme Court overturned the Chevron doctrine," said Hal Lambert, founder of Point Bridge Capital, one of the three firms that will manage the ETF's portfolio. In June 2024, Supreme Court justices ruled 6-3 to overturn a 1984 decision that had given regulatory agencies latitude to interpret the laws they administer. "That was a massive win for companies dealing with big regulatory burdens, and the fact that Trump won (the election) will allow this deregulation process to happen even more speedily," said Lambert. After the election, Lambert connected with Michael Gayed, portfolio manager for Tactical Rotation Management and Todd Stankiewicz of SYKON Asset Management, to develop the ETF. They partnered with Tidal Investments, a "white label" ETF issuer that provides the platform and operational support for other companies to launch their own branded ETFs. "There just wasn't another product out there that invested in deregulation as a theme," said Gayed, who said the portfolio will include everything from bitcoin and gold to shares in companies that look likely to benefit from deregulation, from mid-sized financial firms to the nuclear energy industry. Its largest holdings include stakes in Uranium Energy Corp , Robinhood Markets and Old National Bancorp . "This is about profits, not politics," said Gayed, although he added that the current U.S. political trends are what he expects to translate into profits for the ETF's portfolio.
