Jaipur police investigate wider exam fraud after NEET arrests
Jaipur: A day after busting a gang that was trying to cheat in the NEET exam and arresting five people, including a first-year MBBS student, city police Tuesday said they are now probing the gang's possible involvement in other competitive exam frauds.Sources said mobile phones seized from the accused contained a series of digital evidence—chats, photos, and videos. These are being examined to check whether the group tried to manipulate or attempted to rig other entrance exams. The accused were arrested following a tip-off from state police's special operations group (SOG). Acting on the lead, a police team raided a flat in Jagdamba Nagar, Karni Vihar, and arrested Ajit Kumar and Sohan Lal Chaudhary, both postgraduate students at National Institute of Ayurveda in Jaipur, along with Jitendra Sharma, an MBBS student from Karnataka who previously studied Ayurveda.Police recovered forged admit cards, Bluetooth earpieces, SIM cards, AI-generated ID photos, and Rs 50,000 cash—reportedly taken as advance payment for appearing as dummy candidates. Later, two more candidates, Rohit Gora and Sanjay Chaudhary, were taken into custody for allegedly engaging the gang to impersonate them in NEET-UG and a forthcoming paramedical exam.A senior official, on condition of anonymity, said the gang was driven by the lure of fast money. The PG students allegedly recruited Jitendra Sharma to pose as Gora in NEET and as Sanjay in the upcoming test. "The group used sophisticated tools and fake identities to facilitate impersonation. We are examining their phones and financial trails to uncover the full extent of the racket," he said.

Fake Flight Attendant Fools US Airlines For 120 Free Flights Over Six Years
A US man who fraudulently posed as a flight attendant for six years and managed to book over 120 free flights has been convicted by a federal jury. The man, identified as 35-year-old Tiron Alexander, availed the free flights between 2018 and 2024 across multiple major US airlines, according to the United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida. Alexander accessed the websites reserved for flight crew to book the free flights using employee benefits. Free flights for crew members are a longstanding industry perk, also known as non-revenue travel. The indictment revealed that although Alexander worked for an airline since November 2015, he was never a flight attendant or a pilot. He is now being charged with wire fraud and entering into a secure area of an airport by false pretences. The carriers named in court documents include American Airlines, Spirit Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Air Lines and Southwest Airlines. He flew 34 flights on one airline by pretending to be a flight attendant or staff member by using 30 different badge numbers and dates of hire to book his no-cost flights. "The evidence at trial also showed that Alexander posed as a flight attendant on three other airline carriers. Ultimately, Alexander booked more than 120 free flights by falsely claiming to be a flight attendant," read a statement by the US attorney's office. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) released a statement, stating it was pleased with the verdict. "While Alexander was able to board flights by fraudulently obtaining a boarding pass, he underwent all applicable TSA security procedures, including ID verification and physical screening, and did not pose a threat to other airline passengers," the TSA said. "TSA remains dedicated to the security of the flying public and will continue to support the prosecution of those who break air travel laws." The maximum sentence for wire fraud is 20 years in prison, and 10 years for entering the secure airport areas under false pretences. Both charges carry a maximum of three years of supervised release and a Rs 2.15 crore ($250,000) fine.

Meghalaya Murder: Raja's Killers Planned To Kill A Woman, Pass Body As That Of Sonam

Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder: The Meghalaya Police, investigating the murder of Indore-native newlywed Raja Raghuvanshi—who was killed during his honeymoon in the state—have identified Raj Kushwaha as the mastermind behind the chilling murder case, with Raja's wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, actively involved in the plot. The police said that the killers had planned to murder any woman and burn her body to pass it as that of Sonam so that she would be able to be in hiding for a few more days till the truth is known. On the first day of interrogation of Sonam, Raj and three others, who were arrested in connection with the killing of Raja Raghuvanshi, also revealed that she fled from Meghalaya in a burqa and reached Indore using various modes of transport like taxi, bus and train. 'The conspiracy to eliminate Raja was hatched in Indore, shortly before his wedding with Sonam on May 11, and the mastermind is Raj while the woman had agreed to the plot," East Khasi Hills district Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem told news agency PTI. 'The three young people were friends, and one of them is a cousin of Raj. It was not a typical contract killing. Yes, the plan was to kill and they did it as a favour to their friend Raj," Syiem said. Raj had given them Rs 50,000 for the expenditures, he said. Syiem further revealed that the plot began in February, when the group was in Indore. The plan revolved around making Sonam disappear, but later turned into a murder conspiracy. 'One plan was to make people believe that she would wash away by a river. Another plan was to murder any woman, burn the body and claim that it was of Sonam. However, none of the plans fructify," the police officer said. After Raja and Sonam were married on May 11, they visited the Kamakhya Devi Temple in Assam. A few days later, the accused also reached the area. According to police, the group initially planned to kill Raja in Guwahati, but later shifted the plan to Shillong. Syiem said they started together for Weisawdong Falls, and there all three hit Raja with a machete they bought in Assam and killed him in front of Sonam between 2 pm and 2.18 pm on May 23 before throwing the body in a gorge. Sonam gave Akash the raincoat she was wearing as his shirt had a blood spot. They left Weisawdong on scooters, and Akash threw the raincoat later as it too had blood stains. They also abandoned the two-wheeler hired by Sonam and Raja at a place, the SP said. The police recovered the raincoat and the two-wheeler when the search for Sonam was underway. 'Raj had given Vishal a burqa which he has handed over to Sonam. She wore it, went to the Police Bazaar and took a taxi to Guwahati. From Guwahati, she reached Siliguri (in West Bengal) on a bus. From there, she took buses to go to Patna and Arah and boarded a train for Lucknow. From Lucknow, Sonam took a bus and reached Indore," he said. On June 8, when Sonam had left Indore, two police teams from Meghalaya reached UP and Madhya Pradesh in civil dress. 'When the first arrest (Akash) was made in UP, Raj panicked and told Sonam to call up her family and tell them she just escaped from an abduction gang. That's how this whole thing came to light in Ghazipur," Syiem said. They had thought that Raja's body would not be discovered as it was remote and the police enquiry would take one to two months. So she thought of playing the victim card. 'We are recording their statements. We are questioning them. We will gather more evidence and reconstruct the crime scene," Syiem said. The officer said the police are confident to file a charge sheet in the case within the mandatory 90 days. All five were remanded to eight days of police custody on Wednesday. Raja Raghuvanshi Murder Case Raja and Sonam, who got married on May 11 in Indore, went to Meghalaya on their honeymoon. He was found dead in a gorge near Weisawdong Falls in East Khasi Hills district on June 2, 10 days after the couple went missing. The murder took a sensational turn when Raghuvanshi's wife, Sonam, was found in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur, around 1,200 km away, in the early hours of June 9 and surrendered. The police also held her three alleged aides, Akash Rajput (19), Vishal Singh Chauhan (22), and Raj Singh Kushwaha (20). J&K: ACB arrests revenue official in bribery case
Jammu, June 13 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau on Friday trapped and arrested a revenue official in a bribery case in Poonch district. The official spokesman here said that the ACB received a complaint where it was alleged that the complainant was in need of a revenue record, i.e., attested copies of the Khasra Girdwari of his land situated in Village Dhara, for which he had already applied via online mode on April 26, 2025, but Patwari Mohammad Jameel was demanding a bribe for providing the attested copies of the same. Since the complainant didn't want to pay a bribe, he approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau to take legal action against the accused public servants under the law, he said. The spokesman added that on receipt of the complaint, a discreet verification was conducted, which confirmed the demand for a bribe by the public servant, and accordingly, a case was registered in Police Station ACB Rajouri, and an investigation was taken up. During the course of the investigation, a trap team was constituted, and the team laid a successful trap, and the accused public servant was caught red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe amount of Rs 5,000 from the complainant in the presence of independent witnesses. The accused person was arrested on the spot by the ACB team after following due process of law, and subsequently, a search was also conducted in the residential house of the accused at Poonch.
