Martinsville man charged after allegedly found asleep with teenager in car
HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Henry County Sheriff's Office has announced the arrest of a man after allegedly being found asleep with a teenage girl in a car late in Collinsville on May 31. The sheriff said that a deputy who was patrolling the area near 2400 Virginia Avenue allegedly witnessed a suspicious red Dodge Charger with the engine running behind the AutoZone store around 5:08 a.m. on Saturday. The deputy approached the Charger and allegedly saw a man in the driver's seat, as well as a 14-year-old girl in the passenger seat, according to the sheriff. Both occupants appeared to be sleeping. The man was allegedly shirtless, and the teenage girl appeared to be unclothed, with 'several open containers of alcoholic beverages visible inside the vehicle,' the sheriff said. Infant found safe in Franklin County While investigating, it was allegedly determined that the man, who was later identified as 33-year-old Roniticus Lamar Wilson of Martinsville, and the teenage girl, knew each other and 'had been attempting to engage in a romantic relationship.' Roniticus Lamar Wilson has been arrested and charged with the following: Carnal Knowledge of a Child in violation of (Virginia Code § 18.2-63) Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor (Virginia Code § 18.2-371) Wilson is currently being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond. Jury rules in favor of Black firefighter's racial discrimination case against City of Portland
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A Black firefighter who claims he faced repeated racial discrimination, harassment, and retaliation within the Portland Fire Bureau has had a Multnomah County jury rule in his favor. Jason Wilson spent more than 17 years serving his community before filing a complaint that accused the City of Portland of discriminating against him 'based on his race, his opposition to unlawful discrimination, and his reports of unlawful conduct.' Neighbors, PBOT fed up with NW 13th outdoor plaza A jury ruled Monday that Wilson did face discrimination from the bureau, suggesting that a judge grant him $275,000 in non-economic damages. Wilson and his attorney , alleging he was ignored by supervisors when he brought up concerns of unlawful activity as recently as October 2023. 'For years, Company Fire Inspection Program (CFIP) employees have systematically falsified thousands of inspection reports,' the lawsuit read. 'In some cases, employees have filed inspection reports without having set foot inside the premises they claimed to have inspected.' According to the lawsuit, fire investigators called Wilson and asked to accompany him 'into a private premises under the guise of performing a fire inspection so they could get the 'lay of the land' and look for stolen cars' in June 2023. Wilson says he reported the request to his supervisors, because he was concerned doing so would be illegal. The suit outlined years of racial discrimination and derogatory comments made by supervisors and colleagues. In an instance from 2008, the suit alleged that now-retired Cpt. Lonnie Fuller had spoken about Wilson's daughter in derogatory ways and made other racist comments on a daily basis, such as calling any black person in a baseball cap a 'gang member.' Man arrested after hatchet attack near Portland State campus On one occasion, Wilson claimed Fuller asked, 'Where's the most dangerous place for a black baby?' and finished with the punchline, 'In its mother's belly.' But when Wilson brought up the alleged racism to a fire marshal in October 2023, he was removed from the inspection testing maintenance team four days later. Instead, he was told at the time the decision had been made to 'avoid favoritism.' Wilson had also claimed that the city's hiring process for a 2023 Fire Inspector Specialist position had been a case of racial discrimination. However, the jury ruled that the process had resulted in materially adverse treatment, but did not find that the treatment was due to his race. The Portland Fire Bureau declined an opportunity for comment. KOIN 6 News has also reached out to the City of Portland. This story will be updated if we hear back. He Was Ambushed with Acid and Died After Nearly 3 Agonizing Months. Now, Authorities Say His Ex Was Behind It
In the early morning hours of February 2025, Danny Cahalane answered the door of his home in Plymouth, England To his horror, the British dad was doused with sulfuric acid After a nearly three-month hospitalization, he died on May 3A British father died after acid was thrown in his face in a horrific, middle-of-the-night ambush and now his ex-girlfriend and five others are facing charges in connection with his death. On Friday, Feb. 21, at about 3:55 a.m., Danny Cahalane, 38, opened the door of his home in Plymouth to a group of people who threw sulfuric acid in his face, according to the Devon & Cornwall Police. Cahalane's young daughter was sleeping during the attack that was allegedly orchestrated by his ex-girlfriend, Paris Wilson, 34, of Plymouth, authorities say, The Times reports. Cahalane was rushed to a local hospital and died on May 3, 'despite the best efforts of medical professionals," the Devon & Cornwall Police said. A mother of two, Wilson is a former probation officer who volunteered as a teacher at a local prison and now works in marketing, The Times reports. In April, Wilson, along with six men from London — Abdulrasheed Adedoja, 22, Jean Mukuna, 23, Isanah Sungum, 21, Ramarnee Bakas, 22, Arrone Mukuna, 24, and Brian Kalemba, 22 — and Jenna Said, 39, of Plymouth, were charged with conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to kidnap, the BBC reports. Additionally, Adedoja, Jean Mukuna, Bakas and Arrone Mukuna each face a charge of conspiring to acquire, use or possess criminal property. Israel Augustus, 25, from London, is charged with applying a corrosive fluid with intent to burn, maim, disfigure or do grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary, possession of an offensive weapon, and drug offenses. All nine were accused of participating in the criminal activity of an organized crime group to kidnap and murder Cahalane. On Monday, June 2, six of the suspects – Augustus, Adedoja, Bakas-Sithole, Kalemba, Sungum, and Wilson, 34, were charged with murder, according to the Tuesday, June 3, Wilson, Augustus, Sungum, Said and Arrone Mukuna pleaded not guilty to all charges at a hearing at Plymouth Crown Court, Kent Online reports. Jean Mukuna pleaded not guilty to all charges but did not enter a plea for the charge of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply, according to Kent Online. Adedoja, Bakas-Sithole, and Kalemba did not enter any pleas to the charges, Kent Online reports. As the suspects await their next court date, Cahalane's family is mourning his loss. In a tribute issued by police in early May, Cahalane's family said, "As a family, we are struggling to come to terms with Danny's passing," The Times reported. "Danny was an outstanding father and son. Danny and his mum had so much love for each other. He is well loved by his family and friends and as a family we cherish his love and memories.'
