SAUDI SLAMMER Brit dad-of-four facing jail in Saudi Arabia over a TWEET after being snatched by cops at airport while on hols
A BRIT dad-of-four is facing a lengthy prison sentence in a Saudi slammer after he was snatched by cops for making a social media post.
Ahmed al-Doush, a senior business analyst at Bank of America, was on holiday with his family in the Arab Kingdom at the time of his dramatic arrest last August.

He was taken away by plain clothes officers whilst preparing to fly home to the UK from King Khalid Airport, Riyadh, according to The Guardian.
The Manchester man has not yet met his own baby son Youssef - who was born in December during the Sudan-born dad's detention.
His wife Amaher Nour was pregnant with their fourth child at the time of the arrest.
But the brave dad insisted she and their other three children board the flight back without him.
Foreign Secretary David Lammy and his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah have reportedly discussed the case.
Nour told The Times that when authorities approached him, they thought there was a problem with his visa.
She said her husband called her from security and "told me to fly with the children on to Turkey".
He told his wife: "I'll be with you shortly."
When the confused family finally touched down in Manchester, only then were they informed that Ahmed had been locked up in Saudi Arabia.
He was reportedly blocked from having any communication with his own family for nearly three months, until November 17.

In November he appeared in a Saudi court for the first time, before he was allowed a visit from British consulate officials.
The Foreign Office have reportedly been refused access to the trial, but it is believed that they did have access to Ahmed's most recent hearing.
The Sun reached out to the Foreign Office to confirm this.
NGO Reprieve are representing the holidaymaker, a group who have previously campaigned for abolishing the death penalty in Saudi Arabia.
The organisation sent a letter to Lammy and the Foreign Office reportedly replied that while Ahmed's detention was difficult for the family, the department "cannot interfere in another country's legal processes".
They added that they "must respect their systems" and could not "get British nationals out of jail".
Ahmed is set to face court on Monday - but shockingly his UK lawyer Haydee Dijkstal said that it is still unclear what exactly he is being charged with.
She added that the timeline of accusations was also unclear.
Ahmed is believed to have made a since-deleted Tweet about the war in Sudan, his home country.
Saudi Arabia's most draconian laws
The most infamous case of Saudi Arabia's draconian laws is that of Raif Badawi - a blogger who was sentenced to 1,000 lashes and 10 years in prison for "insulting Islam".
The Arab Kingdom still enforces the death penalty - in 2022, 196 people were executed. And on March 12 that year, 81 people were executed in one single day.
Women and girls still face discrimination in regard to the law. The male guardianship act was enshrined into law in 2022, and means that women must have a "male legal guardian".
The Arab Kingdom consistently cracks down on the press, controlling domestic media and jailing journalists for a variety of "crimes". Journalist Jamal Khashoggi was assassinated at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul in 2018 by agents of the Saudi government.
LGBT rights are not legally recognised in the country. They are labelled as "extremist ideas", with public displays of affection between couples outlawed.
Protests and demonstrations are also illegal. Those who defy this ban face arrest, prosecution and imprisonment.
Sudan have provided military support to Saudi Arabia, for its ongoing conflict against Yemen.
But Ahmed's X account has not posted about Saudi Arabia - and he only boasts a humble 37 followers.
It is thought that the Saudis may have objected to his friendship with the son of a Saudi dissident.
Ahmed's family however said that the two did not discuss politics.
Nour told The Times: "The night times are the hardest for me when I'm alone and it's quiet."
It was previously reported that the detained dad was being granted a single phone call at 6am every Wednesday with his wife.
During these brief catch-ups he was instructed by prison guards not to talk about his hearings or the conditions he was experiencing in jail.
Ahmed's lawyer Dijkstal told The Guardian: "Under international law, a detained person has the right to be promptly informed of both the reasons for arrest and continued detention and of the charges.
"This obligation not only means that the state must inform the detained person of the law and provision under which they are charged, but also the facts and evidence that form the charge."

Mum of missing Brit knows 'something is wrong' as she shares final phone call
Jordan Johnson-Doyle, 25, vanished in Malaysia while on a solo backpacking tour of South East Asia - his worried mum said 'something is really wrong' and shared what he said in his last call to her The mother of a young British man who has gone missing while on a solo backpacking tour of South East Asia said "something is really wrong". Jordan Johnson-Doyle vanished in Malaysia and has not been heard from since May 27. Family and friends have not been able to get in contact with the 25-year-old from Southport, despite trying to call and reach out on social media but they said his phone died on Friday. The software engineer's mum Leanne Burnett said she felt "sick" and "numb" after her son went missing, saying he usually checks in with them while away. Jordan's last known location was the Healy Mac's Irish Bar in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, at around 8pm on May 27. The 25-year-old had sent his best friend Owen a picture of the pub's quiz night poster and Jordan is believed to have also visited another nearby bar called The Social. Mum Leanne, 44, on Wednesday morning UK time, said she checked her son's location through the Find My iPhone function and saw it located at a residential block of flats near the bar. The desperate mother told the Liverpool Echo why she was particularly worried about her son as this was unusual behaviour for him. She said: "I have been been feeling just sick, numb. I just want to get over there, find him and bring him home. I want him to know we're looking for him and we're coming to get him. "I have no idea what has happened. All I know is something is really wrong for him not to contact anybody. I know what he's like and he knows how worried everyone gets at home, that's why he checks in all the time. "If he was to lose his phone and laptop, if someone had stolen that off him, he knows my number by heart and he would contact. He would go to the nearest hotel to use the phone, or go to an internet café. He'd find a way to get hold of us." The heartbroken mum said she would talk to her son everyday and looked at his location each day before going to be and when she wakes up in the morning. She added: "But when I woke up on the Wednesday morning, his Find My iPhone had not updated. It just said 'last seen 11 hours ago.'" She added: "I carried on tracking him throughout the day, trying to phone him as well. I couldn't get hold of him on Facebook or Instagram. If he does lose his phone, he usually messages me on Facebook or Instagram." Jordan's phone died three days after he was last seen. Jordan was working abroad for about a year and a half but had been backpacking around the Mediterranean and South East Asia for the past few weeks. The 25-year-old had been in Vietnam before entering Malaysia on May 17. Leanne said she called the police immediately after she could not get in touch with her son and has since contacted the British Consulate and police in Malaysia, as well as his workplace and the hotel he was believed to be staying in. The mum also said "nothing stood out" in the last call she had with her son and said "he seemed absolutely fine and normal", saying: "We always end the phone call with 'love long time' and that was the very last thing we said to each other." She revealed his dad was travelling to Malaysia and she is also set to fly out tomorrow with Jordan's brother, his stepdad and his best friends.

Last picture of Greg Monks emerges as search continues for Scot missing in Portugal
The 38-year-old was on a stag do with pals when he vanished. The last picture of Greg Monks has emerged, as searches to track down the missing Scot continue in the Portuguese holiday hotspot of Albufeira. The 38-year-old, of Cambuslang, near Glasgow, vanished from the Algarve on Tuesday evening, hours after he arrived in the sunshine destination with his friends. And the last picture taken of him before he vanished has now been shared online in a bid to help track him down. The picture was posted in a Facebook group set up to help the search. It shows that he was wearing navy Nike shorts and a t-shirt by the sports brand and gives loved ones and the authorities searching for him more to go on in the hunt to find him. It was thought there were no pictures of him on the night he disappeared, with his sister saying previously they did not know for sure what he had been wearing. The photo was posted on Missing Person Greg Monks - Albufeira, Portugal Facebook page and contained the caption: "This is Greg on the night he went missing, he had on navy Nike shorts and T-shirt." The social media picture was shared over 800 times by people desperate for him to return to his friends and make contact with his loved ones again. Well wishes also flooded in, with people saying they were praying for him and the family that he is found safe and well, following CCTV sightings of him. Greg - who was on a stag do with pals, ahead of being an usher for one of his friends - sparked a major search when he disappeared after leaving the popular bustling strip to head back to the group's apartments. However no one has seen or heard from him since and his worried parents and other loved ones currently out in Albufeira desperately seeking answers to his whereabouts. Portuguese search cops have told relatives he was last sighted on CCTV around four miles from his apartment and the strip in a quieter residential area of Cerro de Águia. Sister Jillian Monks says the exhausted search-party, including Greg's mum, dad, cousin and girlfriend Nicole, are numb as they scour the Algarve. Jillian, 36, who has had to remain in Glasgow with her two young children says she is doing everything she can to share appeals and reach out to locals on social media. Speaking with the Record, she said: "This is every family's worst nightmare. We have never known pain like this. It is just horrendous. We are all trying to keep positive but we know how out of character this is for Greg. "We know if he could contact us he would. We're all just numb and we're praying he's safe. We are all worried sick for him." Jillian has told how the stag party quickly got changed after checking into the Novochoro Apartments. They then headed out, and are believed to have been in King's Cross karaoke bar in Albufeira's nightlife hub before Greg became separated from the group. Jillian said: "His girlfriend, Nicole, is over in Albufeira, she checked through his case to see what was missing. We think he might have had a navy blue Nike shorts and top set on. "She's absolutely devastated right now, she just wants him back." Jillian says gutted mates were left "devastated and shocked" when they realised that Greg hadn't returned to the apartments. They immediately contacted police after he was missing for 12 hours. She said: "The group had only been there for a matter of hours. They checked in and were only in the apartment for 20 minutes before heading out again. "They are all devastated and shocked by what has happened. They spent the rest of the time there searching for him and trying to help. They have all returned home today, Greg should be back home with them." Jillian says the family are in constant contact with local police who have altered the national police force in Portugal. But she says the family have yet to see proof that Greg was spotted in Cerro de Águia and are asking police to show them the CCTV clips.
