After India-Pakistan border tension which took both nations to the brink of war, it seemed unlikely that the cricket team from both nations will face each other anytime soon. But within one week, the International Cricket Council (ICC) have announced two upcoming blockbuster India vs Pakistan encounters.
On Monday, the ICC announced the full schedule of the ICC Women ODI World Cup 2025 set to take place in India and Sri Lanka. The India vs Pakistan match in the ODI World Cup 2025 will take place in Colombo on October 5.
Now on Wednesday, the ICC have come up with a detailed schedule of the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 – being organized in the United Kingdom. According to the schedule, the India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 match is scheduled to take place at Edgbaston, Birmingham, on June 14.
Both BCCI and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have decided that they will not play in each other's country but can play in any neutral venue. As a result, the ICC men's Champions Trophy 2025 was held with a 'hybrid' model with all of India's matches taking place in Dubai.
The ICC men's T20 World Cup 2026 scheduled for February-March next year is also expected to be held in a 'hybrid' model like the ICC women's ODI World Cup 2025.
The Women T20 World 2026 will open with hosts England taking on Sri Lanka under lights at Edgbaston on Friday 12 June, kicking off a whirlwind month of world-class action that will see 12 teams battling it out for the prestigious trophy, currently held by New Zealand.
Hundreds of thousands of cricket fans will have the opportunity to witness nail-biting showdowns between the likes of Australia and South Africa, India and Pakistan, and New Zealand and the West Indies, as the tournament travels the length of the country, firmly propelling women's cricket into the mainstream.
After their opening clash against Pakistan, India will move to Headingley for their contest against a qualifying team on June 17, followed by contest against South Africa at the Old Trafford on June 21.
While India will face the second qualifying team of Group 1 on June 25 at Old Trafford, their toughest game will be against Australia on June 28 at Lord's.

With the semi-finals and final already confirmed to take place in London, at The Oval and Lord's respectively; iconic venues such as Headingley, Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Bristol County Ground and Hampshire Bowl will also play their part in showcasing world-class cricket throughout the earlier stages of the landmark tournament.
England captain, Nat Sciver-Brunt, said: 'World Cups are always special, but this one already feels different — it has the potential to be truly game-changing. It's going to be a huge moment for our sport and a brilliant opportunity to inspire young people and captivate fans across the country. Playing on home soil, for the biggest prize, against the best players in the world, it's going to be unmissable. I can't wait to be a part of it.'
The newly expanded competition will see 12 teams descend on England and Wales in 2026. Eight countries are already sure of their place, with the final four participants to be decided through an ICC Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier next year.
England and Wales were awarded hosting rights for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 in 2022, with the seven host venues selected subsequently following evaluation of various criteria. ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Groups

Leeds Test: 'It's hot' - Shubman Gill and Co might feel at home in dry English summer

Headingley Cricket Ground (Pic courtesy - Sahil Malhotra/ in Leeds: "It's hot," was the first reaction immediately after stepping out of the Leeds Coach Station, just a twenty minute drive from the Headingley Cricket Ground. There has been a lot of chatter around the dry English summer and it surely felt dry, even though the temperature hovered around the mid 20s. The sun was out in its full glory and the occasional spell of breeze was as soothing as it could get on a Wednesday afternoon where plenty were strolling around, some were baking under the sun with their choice of beverage in the outdoor cafes and most preferred to stay indoors. There is a heat warning issued and the weekend ahead will only get worse," says Joanne, who lives walking distance from the ground and rents out a small room in her house during the busy season. "The cricket is all good, I should be there for the game on Monday, if it lasts that long (laughs) because there are no tickets for weekends. My son managed to get his for the opening day and I can promise that this road - leading to the ground - will be packed before toss. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Retirement Villages in Bangalore (Search Here For Results) Senior Living Communities Undo And you guys wouldn't mind this weather at all. Good for you especially without Virat Kohli (chuckles)," adds Joanne. IND vs ENG: Rishabh Pant opens up on chemistry with Shubman Gill and England challenge The next three days forecast is close to 30 and for residents here, it's a state of panic. They have started taking precautions already to keep their houses cool when the mercury rises in the next 72 hours. Even on the opening day, the forecast reads 27 but the cloud cover prediction could make it very interesting. In interactions with , former England cricketers Graham Gooch and Nick Knight had emphasised how this has been a very unusually dry English summer and it's likely to remain the same during the India-England Test series. The dry buildup means pitches will not be the usual strips which have been rolled out for the Indian cricket team in the past. While England have named lone spinner Shoaib Bashir in the Playing XI, it remains to be seen whether India beefs up that department by playing both Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav in the opening game. Not many would have seen that coming - a discussion on playing two spinners in Headingley - but the dryness makes it a very relevant talking point two days before the coin goes up for a toss. Nick Knight EXCLUSIVE: On Shubman Gill and absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma in England Cricket, however, is only being discussed at Headingley and in the bylanes - which have some iconic scorecards (Ben Stokes 135, Ian Botham 149) painted on the walls - leading to the venue. For a cab driver like Awais, who is from Pakistan, it was just another drop the ground he likes to stay away from. "Agar ek pura pariwar dekhne jayega to utne ka bada TV aa jayega ghar mai (if a family goes to watch from the ground it will cost similar to getting a big TV at home)," says Awais. He has seen a game at the iconic venue and assures Team India will not feel the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in this marquee series. "Dukh ki baat hai wo dono nahi rahenge par aapke ladke acche hai, team bhi acchi hai (it's sad those two won't be there but you have good boys and a good team)," assures Awais. When he finishes the ride and hands over the cash change, the first thing Awais does is rolls up the windows and increases the intensity of the blower. Because, it surely is hot in Leeds! Bavuma admitted that he had never seen so many people coming to cheer for the team at the airport before. 'It is quite overwhelming. We haven't seen people like that at the airport before. As players, you don't really realise what you've done but when you start to interact with people and see the emotion, it gives you a proper insight into what we've done. We are proud as a team but we are even more happy and proud that we've made our people proud,' Bavuma said. Bavuma also spoke about how the team achieved their victory in the South African way. 'If you look at this team and the guys at the helm, we have done it the proper South African way. That's unique to this group.
