Vijay Deverakonda REFLECTS on Liger's failure and if he regrets it now: ‘It was a great idea on paper'

Vijay Deverakonda is eagerly awaiting the release of his movie Kingdom, slated to release on July 4, 2025. Ahead of the film hitting the big screens, the actor was seen interacting with Filmfare, where he reflected upon the failure of Liger.
Talking about the same and whether the actor had regret being part of the project, Vijay replied he doesn't feel anything of sort and admitted to being obsessed with the character.
In his words, 'I was obsessed with my character, learning martial arts, building my physique to look like a fighter, figuring out the stammer. Everything about the role was so challenging that I completely enjoyed the process of making it.'
Highlighting how he had always been a fan of director Puri Jagannadh, the actor continued, 'Growing up, I was a huge fan and admirer of director Puri Jagannadh, his film Pokiri with Mahesh Babu sir is one of my favourites, and it was a dream of mine to make a film with him. I was extremely sad that we didn't make a better film, it was a great idea on paper that we fudged…but I have zero regret about the film.'
Moreover, the actor added how he has learned a great deal from the experience of Liger. Vijay underlines that the lessons he got have changed him, and that will be visible from now on and in his future ventures.
For those unaware, Liger is a 2022 sports action drama, written and directed by Puri Jagannadh. The film featured the tale of a young MMA fighter called Liger who aspires to become a great boxer, upholding his father's legacy, determined by his mother's ambition.
The film, which was shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu, featured Vijay in dual roles as father and son with an ensemble cast of actors like Ananya Panday, Ramya Krishna, Ronit Roy, and many more, with American boxing legend Mike Tyson in a cameo appearance. Liger was massively panned by critics and ultimately failed at the box office.
Moving ahead, Vijay Deverakonda is next set to appear in Kingdom, a spy thriller film which is said to be part of a planned duology. Furthermore, he also has ventures like VD14 and SVC59 in the lineup.

Disney, Universal sue AI firm Midjourney for copyright infringement

Last Updated: New York, Jun 11 (AP) Disney and Universal have filed a copyright lawsuit against popular artificial intelligence image-generator Midjourney on Wednesday, marking the first time major Hollywood companies have enter the legal battle over generative AI. Filed in federal district court in Los Angeles, the complaint claims Midjourney pirated the libraries of the two Hollywood studios to generate and distribute 'endless unauthorized copies" of their famed characters, such as Darth Vader from Star Wars and the Minions from Despicable Me. 'Midjourney is the quintessential copyright free-rider and a bottomless pit of plagiarism. Piracy is piracy, and whether an infringing image or video is made with AI or another technology does not make it any less infringing," the companies state in the complaint. The studios also claimed the San Francisco-based AI company ignored their requests to stop infringing on their copyrighted works and to take technological measures to halt such image generation. Midjourney could not immediately be reached for comment. The small startup is one of a crop of research labs enabling people to experiment with AI-generated visuals and text. Major AI developers don't typically disclose their data sources but have argued that taking troves of publicly accessible online text, images and other media to train their AI systems is protected by the 'fair use" doctrine of American copyright law. Bruce Springsteens Berlin concert echoes with history and a stark warning

Last Updated: Berlin, Jun 11 (AP) Veteran rock star Bruce Springsteen, a high-profile critic of President Donald Trump, slammed the US administration as 'corrupt, incompetent and treasonous" during a concert on Wednesday in Berlin. He was addressing tens of thousands of fans at a stadium built for the 1936 Olympic Games that still bears the scars of World War II and contains relics from the country's dark Nazi past. 'Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experiment to rise with us, raise your voices, stand with us against authoritarianism, and let freedom reign," he said. Springsteen, long a political opponent of the president, has made increasingly pointed and contentious public statements in recent concerts. He denounced Trump's politics during a concert last month in Manchester, calling him an 'unfit president" leading a 'rogue government" of people who have 'no concern or idea for what it means to be deeply American." Springsteen is no stranger to Berlin. In July 1988, he became one of the first Western musicians to perform in East Germany, performing to a ravenous crowd of 1,60,000 East Germans yearning for American rock 'n' roll and the freedom it represented to the youth living under the crumbling communist regime. An Associated Press news story from that period says 'fireworks steaked through the sky" and hundreds of people in the audience waved handmade American flags as they sang along to 'Born in the USA." Almost four decades later, Springsteen issued a stark warning, 'The America that I love, the America that I've sung to you about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration."
