The NBA restarted the 2019-20 season at the end of July at the Walt Disney World bubble in Orlando, Fla. LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers won the 2020 championship against the Miami Heat in six games.
James won his fourth title and fourth Finals MVP in the bubble. The Lakers beat the Portland Trail Blazers, Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets and Heat in the 2020 playoffs.

The leading scorer in NBA history, James said the bubble "was strictly basketball."
"I agree when a lot of people say it's the purest form of hoops," James said. "Like it was just, it was strictly basketball. You know, we're all like, you know, have the ability to do whatever we want in life. You know, we've made a bunch of money. We have all the access. You know, that's gone in the bubble. You can't just, you know, oh, I'm about to go to a restaurant or I'm about to do this or I have this. You can't do none of that. Like, everything in the bubble was strictly about basketball.
"Of all my championships I've won, that level of focus, like how long can you maintain your focus in order to get the job done? Because you have all the reasons, if you want to, to get out of focus because you're so accustomed to a certain lifestyle."
James averaged 27.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.9 blocks in the 2020 playoffs.

Just In: Houston Rockets center Steven Adams has agreed to a three-year, $39 million contract extension to stay with the franchise, sources tell ESPN. Former NFL Player Sends Blunt Message to Browns on Shedeur Sanders

Former NFL Player Sends Blunt Message to Browns on Shedeur Sanders originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Former Ohio State and NFL safety Tyvis Powell joined the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show to discuss Shedeur Sanders and the Cleveland Browns' quarterback situation. Advertisement Powell expressed strong support for Sanders, suggesting that if the Browns want a true franchise-changing quarterback, Sanders is a compelling option. He emphasized that Sanders possesses an intangible quality that draws people to him. Shedeur has a presence that inspires belief in his potential. 'If you want the guy actually can be your franchise quarterback that can change things then you go with Shedeur,' said Powell. 'It's something about the fact that people just gravitate to him.' Powell was particularly frustrated by reports that Sanders has not taken any first-team reps, despite performing well in practices. He noted that other quarterbacks have had opportunities with the starters, and found it 'ridiculous' and disrespectful that Sanders hasn't received the same chance. 'How has he not got a rep with the ones, that's inexcusable,' stated Powell. Advertisement Powell referenced praise from outlets like ESPN Cleveland, which highlighted Sanders' efficiency, noting that he reportedly throws very few incompletions and mostly touchdowns in practice. He dismissed the current depth chart as meaningless in June, emphasizing that if Sanders continues to impress, he deserves a legitimate shot with the starters. Powell criticized the coaching staff's handling of Sanders, saying it feels like they're 'playing with him,' and urged that the team give Sanders the reps he's earned based on performance, not just pedigree or position on the chart. Georgia Two-Way Player Commits to Deion Sanders and Colorado (Exclusive)

Georgia Two-Way Player Commits to Deion Sanders and Colorado (Exclusive) originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Colorado Buffaloes had a late addition for this year's roster on Saturday night. Buford (Georgia) receiver and cornerback Kyle Carpenter announced he would be Boulder bound. The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder was a high school teammate of Buffs three-star linebacker Mantrez Walker. Carpenter ended last season with nine receptions for 142 yards and a touchdown in nine games. He also split time as a two-sport athlete with basketball being his secondary focus. In the first round of this year's GHSA 6A state playoffs, Carpenter finished with 17 points in Buford's win. Advertisement Don't be surprised if he tries to suit up for Tad Boyle's team as well. "If the coaches allow me to play both sports, I would love to," Carpenter told Athlon Sports. Colorado's 2025 high school class bumps up to 14 players. Carpenter is the third Peach State prospect for the Buffs this year, along with Walker and five-star QB Julian Lewis. It's clear Sanders and his staff are sending a message to the rest of the Big 12 as next season quickly approaches. They're going to compete and recruit in the southern region of the country by any means necessary. "The facility was like no other," Carpenter said. "The coaching staff with Coach Prime is the greatest to ever do it. Everybody in boulder just feels like family as soon as I came in." Related: Shedeur Sanders Should be Browns' No. 2 QB, says Cleveland Hosts Carpenter is ready to get to work in Boulder and says he hopes to have the opportunity to be the Buffs' next two-way star. With Travis Hunter's historic Heisman win, Sanders could start trending with players ready to be featured on both sides of the ball. Only time will tell if that happens or if 'Saucy-T' is truly a unicorn. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 15, 2025, where it first appeared.
