In the thrilling U19 male beach sprint, Jake Hutton from Big Bay surged to gold, redeeming himself after a controversial DQ earlier in the week in the flags.
The senior men's beach flags final saw drama and appeals that resulted in a fourth-place run-off being reinstated. Samuel Booysen of Clifton kept his cool to take gold in a nail-biting finish.
In the open women's beach flags, Even Abrahams from Fish Hoek proved unbeatable, sprinting to the top of the podium.
Fish Hoek's Mark Keeling and Cheyne Haupt teamed up to win the open male double ski, with Keeling also claiming victory in the open single ski.
On the women's side, Georgia Singe (Fish Hoek) took gold in the open female single ski, and joined Nicola Harcus for another gold in the double ski.

As the flags came down on an extraordinary week in Gqeberha, Lifesaving SA's Director of Sport, Craig van Rooyen, praised the athletes.

It's been a good year for the former Moroka Swallows man. Naturally, the monied clubs in Gauteng have been lining up and are interested in his services. But my main focus is to use whatever opportunity I get to play and keep doing what I do and keep improving every day. 'So, whatever happens in the background is just part of the rumours that have been created. But for me, in football, there comes a time where you want to achieve greater things – maybe play for the so-called big teams or make big moves.' So, with that being said, where should he go next? For many, the logical answer would be Mamelodi Sundowns. At Chloorkop, Basadien would land in a very stable situation, where every player knows what is expected of them and clear goals are set. While Sundowns supporters are passionate about their club, they're not as vocal and opinionated as those from other clubs. If he struggles to settle in, they would be patient enough to give him time to get used to his new surroundings. The same can't be said about fans of the Soweto clubs. While Pirates are more settled as a football operation, Chiefs are not. The club have just finished outside of the top half for a second successive season and are in desperate need of open-heart surgery. Kaizer Chiefs would be completely the wrong move for a player who is starting to make a name for himself on the international stage. And we all know how quickly Chiefs supporters can turn on players who don't hit the ground running. Basadien must think carefully now. He's not a youngster anymore, and this next move could define the rest of his career. A switch to Sundowns makes sense if he wants silverware and structure, but he'll have to fight for his place every week. Pirates might offer him that balance – game time and prestige – while Chiefs, honestly, look like a gamble right now. Whatever he chooses, the ball's at his feet. And in South African football, that's a rare kind of power. KZN Treasury banking on Comrades Marathon to give local tourism a boost
DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal's Treasury Department has described Comrades Marathon as a major boost for the province's economy. Thousands have booked accommodation in Pietermaritzburg and Durban ahead of the marathon. The race will start in Pietermaritzburg and end at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. Finance MEC Francious Rodgers said the province always gets excited to host this event. 'It's obviously one of those really big events that we are proud of. It has a history in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, and it's not a South African event, it's an international event.' He said the hospitality industry will do business this weekend. 'And if you try and to get accommodation in Durban and Pietermaritzburg over the weekend, it's fully covered, booked, and that's exactly what we want.'

South African wheelchair tennis player Kgothatso Montjane (right) and Japanese partner Yui Kamiji at Roland Garros in Paris after winning their second French Open double title together. South African wheelchair tennis star Kgothatso Montjane reclaimed the French Open doubles title with Japanese partner Yui Kamiji in dramatic fashion at Roland Garros on Friday night. It was a fourth doubles Grand Slam title for the South African ace, who fell short of reaching the singles final in an earlier semi-final. Montjane and Kamiji faced the Chinese pairing of Xiaohui Li and Ziying Wang, the No 2 seeds, in the women's doubles final. They had to dig deep, fighting back from a set down to secure a 4-6 7-5 (10-7) victory. They reclaimed the trophy they lifted at Roland Garros in 2023. The duo also won the US Open title together in 2023, as well as the Wimbledon crown last year. Montjane and Kamiji beat top seeds Manami Tanaka of Japan and Zhenzhen Shu of China 6-1 6-4 to reach the decider. Earlier on Friday, in the men's quad doubles final, Donald Ramphadi of SA and Turkish partner Ahmet Kaplan lost 6-3 6-4 to Guy Sasson of Israel and Niels Vink of the Netherlands.
