South Africa and Australia are all set to lock horns in the World Test Championship (WTC) final 2025 set to begin from Wednesday, June 11 at Lord's in London. The ICC (International Cricket Council) had announced a record prize money for the ongoing cycle of the WTC to prioritize Test cricket.India failed to qualify for the WTC final for the first time in their history after finishing as the runner-ups of the last two editions. As a result, they will be earning USD 1.44 million (Rs 12.30 crore). It's a massive increase from the prize money awarded in 2023, which was USD 450,000 (Rs 3.84 crore).
The winner of the WTC cycle 2023-25 will take home more than double the amount of last edition's prize money as it has been increased from USD 1.6 milllion to USD 3.6 million (Rs 30.76 crore). On the other hand, the runner-up prize has also increased from USD 800,000 to USD 2.16 million (Rs 18.45 Crore).New Zealand, who finished fourth, will earn USD 1.44 million, an increase from USD 350,000, while fifth place, finishing England, will earn USD 960,000, another massive jump from last edition's prize of USD 200,000.In the WTC Cycle 2021-23, teams finishing sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth were all awarded with USD 100,000 each. However, in this edition, Sri Lanka (sixth) will get USD 840,000, Bangladesh (seventh) will be awarded USD 720,000 and West Indies, who finished in eighth place will get USD 600,000. Meanwhile, Pakistan will earn prize money of USD 480,000 for finishing last on ninth spot.

Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi revived South Africa's hopes of a stunning win in the World Test Championship final as Australia collapsed to 73-7 in their second innings at Lord's on Thursday. Australia captain Pat Cummins had produced a sensational spell of four wickets for one run when South Africa were dismissed for 138 earlier on the second day in reply to Australia's first-innings total of 212. But Proteas fast bowler Rabada struck twice in an over before Ngidi, who took three wickets, and Marco Jansen turned the screw as Australia slumped to 73-7 a lead of 147. Australia might still have too many runs for a raw South Africa batting line-up in a match, which although scheduled for five days, could yet be all over before stumps on the third as bowlers on both sides dominated. Rabada, who had taken 5-51 in Australia's first innings, tormented them again with two wickets in the 11th over. He had opener Usman Khawaja caught behind for six and, two balls later, removed Cameron Green for a duck as Australia wobbled. Mehidy Hasan Miraz To Lead Bangladesh ODIs
Bangladesh on Thursday named Mehidy Hasan Miraz as the new captain of the ODI team, with the 27-year-old all-rounder succeeding Najmul Hossain Shanto in white ball cricket. Off-spinner Miraz will take up his post during Bangladesh's three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka, which begins in July, the Bangladesh Cricket Board said.
