NRL fans all say same thing after Manly make 'sad' decision on Tom Trbojevic
The Manly Sea Eagles reportedly held mini-crisis talks on Monday after their latest shock defeat and it's been suggested star fullback Tom Trbojevic is set for a permanent move to centre. Manly were left stunned last Thursday having been humbled at the hands of the Titans to see them drop out of the eight and into 11th place.
Manly have now lost three of their last four games and fans have been growing increasingly frustrated with the performances. The Daly Cherry-Evans saga could be starting to take its toll on the playing group with the halfback's next club still not announced. The drama appears to have finally unsettled the fan base with the halfback's form also dipping.
But one of the major concerns across the last few weeks has been the fitness and form of Trbojevic. The star fullback is the highest-paid player at the club and was once considered one of the best fullbacks in the game.
Although three separate injuries so far in 2025 appears to have hampered the 28-year-old who has looked a shadow of himself this year. And after Trbojevic spent some time at centre last year - when returning from injury - it appears the move could be his new home going forward.
Coach Anthony Seibold is under immense pressure to turn things around and reportedly held a seven-minute session with each player over their performances. And in this meeting it was decided Trbojevic would move to centre having visibly lost his mobility and agility this year.
This will allow Lehi Hopoate to remain at fullback with the Sea Eagles looking more threatening with his speed and athleticism at the back. And few Manly fans have disagreed with Seibold's move. Only a couple of weeks ago, Bryan Fletcher encouraged Manly to make the move as they waited for Trbojevic to return from injury.
"He is way too good, it's clearly evident, he needs to be around the ball because things happen," Fletcher said on SEN Radio. "He is too valuable to this team to be playing on the wing. I know Tom is a terrific fullback...he has to be in the centres. Things happen around Hopoate."
SEN Radio host Jimmy Smith went further and said Trbojevic looked like a 'shell' of his former self. "He is a shell of his former self and it is so sad to see. He can't explode, he has no strength in his legs, he can't break a tackle...it's not Tom Trbojevic. Manly what do you do?" he said on Monday. "It is so sad to see..."
The move is expected to see Jason Saab drop out of the backline as Seibold looks to reignite their season. The move could help boost Manly with Seibold facing pressure in the team's two next home games against the Wests Tigers and the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
As much as I want Turbo at the back.. this is a good move to, hopefully, give some consistency to our spine which we've lacked for years now.. and it shows in the year to year of yoyo results.All be it mass changes to the spine mid-season is not ideal..

Despite the loss, the Sea Eagles were looking at another horror injury when Haumole Olakau'atu went off clutching at his shoulder. The big second-rower has been Manly's best forward this year and was looking at a season-ending injury.
Although the star has avoided shoulder surgery in a welcome boost and could be back after four to six weeks. Another long-term injury would have rocked the club with Taniela Paseka (achilles) already missing from their forward stocks.

And it appears the roles have been reversed a year later with Queensland waiting on the winning team this time around. Although Daley will be hoping he can do one better than Slater and follow through with the victory in Game 2. Last year, leading journalist Dean Ritchie revealed the Blues were privately 'filthy' with Queensland after their stunt. 'The Blues were privately a little bit miffed though, it was for 12.30pm, they were ready to go at twenty past 12 and Queensland lobbed in at twenty to one,' he said on the Sky Sport Radio. 'And then even when Billy got there, Madge was waiting at the gate to go onto the stage and Billy decided to do some autographs and selfies. That's fine to promote the game down here, I get it. Dash after gash: 40 stitches couldn't stop star Dolphin
The Dolphins are creating waves after three weeks of all-time premiership form and hooker Jeremy Marshall-King is just happy to be part of it after surgery. The 29-year-old missed five games with leg lacerations that required surgery after getting infected. His last two matches have been 58-4 and 56-6 wins over North Queensland and St George Illawarra respectively after he missed the previous 44-8 win over Canterbury. Those victories made the Dolphins only one of six teams in premiership history to have won three straight games by 36 points. Marshall-King suffered bad cuts against Penrith in round six and came back too soon in round nine against Sydney Roosters before missing the following four games. On Tuesday he spoke about his ordeal for the first time. "Everyone thought it was just a little scratch but it was two cuts on my leg that were pretty deep," he said. "It got infected at one point and probably didn't heal enough when I came back. I reopened it and had to go back in and get surgery. "They had to clean it out because it got infected and I had over 40 stitches in my quad - inside and outside. "It wasn't nice but I had to get it done. It is a little setback in my footy this year but it is good to be back playing and getting the wins." It is the way the sixth-placed Dolphins are winning that is such a joy. Their attack is on fire and defensively they have been elite, despite missing Daniel Saifiti, Max Plath and Tom Gilbert to season-ending injuries. "It's been really fun and enjoyable the last three weeks and breaking those records as well," he said. "It is all about our connection as a group but it comes back to our defence. The last three weeks we have kept teams to 18 and not many teams do that. "Adversity has been part of this club since we started. We've had a lot of setbacks but us boys bond and connect a lot better when things happen like (injuries). We've got to keep going and be consistent in what we do." The Dolphins will miss captain Felise Kaufusi to suspension for the next fortnight with hooker Harrison Graham set to come onto the bench against Newcastle in Perth on Saturday afternoon. That will allow standout utility Kurt Donoghoe to play longer minutes at lock and not have to slot in at hooker when Marshall-King has a rest. "Kurt's a great player. Massive double blow for Broncos an Qld after veteran suffers injury 'setback'
The Brisbane Broncos have been hit with a fresh blow after the bye round with Michael Maguire still unable to select Ben Hunt after the star suffered a slight setback during his recovery. Broncos coach Maguire is facing plenty of pressure to get the club back on a winning streak having only won two of his last eight games in charge. The Broncos were able to bounce back against the Titans before the bye thanks to the return of Reece Walsh with the squad able to rest up and reset before round 16. Maguire would have been hoping to have the experience of Hunt back for selection against the Sharks this weekend as the Broncos look to carry over the momentum against the 5th placed team. The veteran has not featured in the starting XIII after injuring himself in round 10. Hunt injured his hamstring against the Rabbitohs and limped off the field during the loss. In Hunt's absence, Ezra Mam slotted into five-eighth role after his NRL suspension came to an end. And the coach is expected to use Hunt as the No.9 when he returns, which would see Cory Paix or Billy Walters drop out of the side. Hunt has thrived in the representative arena throughout his career as a No.9, which saw him play some of his best footy for Queensland during State of Origin. While he has played as a halfback for the majority of his NRL career, he was always signed at the Broncos with the idea of playing a dummy-half role with Adam Reynolds their chief playmaker. But Maguire hasn't had the opportunity to start Hunt in this role and he will have to wait with the veteran set to spend another week on the sideline. Hunt hasn't recovered in time for the Sharks clash with his hamstring not ready. This could also be seen as a blow for Queensland coach Billy Slater. Harry Grant has enjoyed his best Origin moments coming off the bench for Queensland with Hunt starting and taking on the early workload. While Hunt was no certainty to play in 2025, Slater would have liked the option of choosing the veteran having chopped and changed his team for Game 2 in Perth. Te Kura had only just joined the side in recent weeks having gone back to QLD Cup and proved his worth to Maguire in the first-half of the season. However, Te Kura will miss six to eight weeks after undergoing surgery on an injury, according to AAP reporter Joel Gould. Te Kura's injury could have also prompted Maguire to bolster the forward depth by signing journeyman forward Ben Talty with immediate effect. Talty has been in the Melbourne Storm system since 2023, plying his trade with the North Sydney Bears in the NSW Cup.
