French Open 2025: Novak Djokovic beats Alexander Zverev, set to face Jannik Sinner in semi-final
Novak Djokovic beat Alexander Zverev to reach the semi-final of the French Open 2025 on Wednesday in Paris, becoming the oldest man to do so at Roland Garros since 1968 at the age of 38, according to the ATP Tour website. The 38-year-old delivered a tactically astute display to prevail 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 and reach a record-extending 51st Grand Slam semi-final . Djokovic successfully deployed a more varied approach to win the match and improve to 9-5 in his Lexus ATP Head2Head series with the German. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với mức chênh lệch giá thấp nhất IC Markets Đăng ký Undo "Especially during the last game, my tactic was just to play drop shots. So I played three or four in a row... Maybe you can't see it on TV, but there is a lot of wind from one side, so it gives the sensation that you must hit twice as hard. It was important to vary the game," Novak Djokovic said after his victory over Alexander Zverev. With his 101st victory at the clay-court major, three-time champion Djokovic set a semifinal meeting with top seed Jannik Sinner , who earlier eased past Alexander Bublik in straight sets. Live Events Djokovic and Sinner are tied at 4-4 in their head-to-head record. However, Sinner has won the last three meetings between the two players. Djokovic won their only meeting on clay in 2021. Sinner, currently 17-1 on the season according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, joins countryman Lorenzo Musetti in the semifinals. It is the first time in the Open Era that two Italian men have reached the semifinals of the same Grand Slam event. "Evdently, there was a lot of pressure at the end, Zverev has been one of the best players in the world over the past six years. Matches like this tonight are the reason why I still want to play and compete," he added. Djokovic is chasing his first major title since the 2023 US Open. Carlos Alcaraz, defending champion at Roland Garros, and Sinner, between them, have won each of the five that followed.

While the side by Cristiano Ronaldo made it to their second final in the history of the competition, it was their 40-year-old skipper scoring his 137th international goal to become the oldest player to score against Germany that grabbed all the headlines. Ronaldo's goal came five minutes after substitute Francisco Conceicao equalized with a powerful shot in the 63rd minute, helping Portugal overcome their initial deficit and ending Ronaldo's personal losing streak against Germany. Florian Wirtz had given Germany the lead in the 48th minute with a precise header inside the right post, but Portugal coach Roberto Martinez's strategic substitutions proved decisive. Cricketer Kuldeep Yadav gets engaged to LIC employee, also his childhood friend. Who is Vanshika?
Indian cricketer Kuldeep Yadav has taken a significant step in his personal life by getting engaged to his childhood friend Vanshika. The ceremony took place on June 4 in Lucknow and was kept low-key, intimate, and traditional. Close family members and friends were present, along with a few familiar faces from the cricketing world, including fellow cricketer Rinku Singh . The couple exchanged rings at a private venue in the city, celebrating the beginning of a new chapter in their longstanding bond. Who is Vanshika? Vanshika, who belongs to Shyam Nagar in Lucknow, works with the Life Insurance Corporation of India ( LIC ), according to reports. Her connection with Kuldeep dates back to their early years, with the two having known each other since childhood. What started as a close friendship gradually turned into a relationship built on mutual respect and affection. Their engagement marks the culmination of years of companionship, making the event especially meaningful for both their families. — PriyaSarojMP (@PriyaSarojMP) The presence of Rinku Singh at the ceremony also drew attention, especially in light of earlier rumors suggesting a rift between him and Kuldeep. These speculations stemmed from an on-field incident involving the two during the IPL. However, Rinku's attendance, accompanied by his fiancee Priya Saroj, appears to have put those rumors to rest, reinforcing the bond the two cricketers continue to share off the field. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch vàng CFDs với sàn môi giới tin cậy IC Markets Undo On the professional front, Kuldeep Yadav remains one of India's most dependable spin options. In the 2025 Indian Premier League, where he represented the Delhi Capitals, the left-arm wrist-spinner delivered a solid performance. He picked up 15 wickets over 14 matches at an economy rate of 7.08 and a bowling average of 24.07. His standout performance of the season was a three-wicket haul for just 22 runs, a testament to his consistency and effectiveness in the shortest format of the game. Since his international debut in 2017, Kuldeep has played a crucial role in India's bowling attack, particularly in One Day Internationals, where he has accumulated over 180 wickets. Known for his deceptive variations, especially his trademark 'chinaman' delivery, he continues to be a match-winner capable of turning games in India's favor. Kuldeep Yadav-Vanshika wedding While his engagement has brought a wave of happiness in his personal life, Kuldeep's professional journey remains as demanding as ever. With India set to tour England soon, the spinner will play a key role, especially in red-ball cricket, where conditions often favor skilled spinners like him. As for the wedding, it was initially scheduled for June 29 but has now been postponed due to the upcoming international commitments. Reports suggest that the couple may tie the knot later this year.
