Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed urges Aggie fans attend basketball, baseball games this weekend

Yahoo20-02-2025

Texas A&M starting quarterback Marcel Reed entered the spotlight during the 2024 season. His journey from backup to starter was filled with the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. The Aggies started 7-1 and 5-0 in SEC play before finishing 1-4 with consecutive losses to Texas and USC in the Las Vegas Bowl.
Reed's dual-threat ability jumps off the page, while his pocket presence and passing skill set are still in progress. However, the former four-star prospect finished the 2024 campaign with 1,864 passing yards, 15 touchdowns, and six interceptions while gaining 547 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. Reed has worked on and off campus this offseason to improve his downfield vision and add more bulk to his frame.
Outside of his on-field play, Reed possesses the leadership skills to become a vocal leader in the locker room in 2025, as former starting quarterback Conner Weigman is now with the Houston Cougars after transferring this offseason. Reed has embraced Texas A&M Athletics on campus, especially during Basketball, Baseball, and Softball seasons.
On Wednesday, Reed partnered with TexAgs and released a short 15-second video urging Aggie students, fans, and alumni to come out and support all three teams this weekend, including Texas A&M basketball's early home showdown vs. No. 6 Tennessee on Saturday morning.

Texas A&M Faces Setback as star Utility player enters the transfer portal

Texas A&M Faces Setback as star Utility player enters the transfer portal The transfer portal has struck the Texas A&M softball team once again. This time, however, it involves a major contributor expected to play a key leadership role. On Friday afternoon, in a shocking announcement, starting utility player Amari Harper entered her name into the softball transfer portal. The junior was a key contributor all season, routinely delivering clutch hits and showing emerging power by knocking out crucial home runs. While the Aggies have a deep roster and should be able to fill the void, Harper's departure is still a significant loss, especially if head coach Trisha Ford can't find a way to bring her back next season. Every athlete has their reasons for entering the portal, and even though this move is surprising, players must do what they believe is best for their future. Entering the portal doesn't necessarily mean Harper is leaving, but in today's NIL landscape, anything is possible.
