DUBAI (ALETIHAD)flydubai, the Dubai-based carrier, launches a new Travel Shop in the Emirate of Sharjah, featuring a City Check-in service for the first time. The new Travel Shop, located in the heart of the city, is now open to customers who can avail the new convenient service as well as other available services.Partnering with Sharjah National Travel and Tourist Agency (SNTTA), flydubai's Travel Shop in Sharjah enhances convenience and accessibility for its customers in the Northern Emirates. For the first time, the airline's recently opened Travel Shop offers passengers the option of City Check-in, enabling them to complete their check-in process well in advance before arrival at Terminal 2, Dubai International (DXB).Sudhir Sreedharan, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations (UAE, GCC, Africa, South Asia and South-East Asia) at flydubai, said: 'we are committed to finding the right travel partners to bring our reliable travel experience to our customers wherever they are. The new flydubai Travel Shop in Sharjah underscores our continued commitment to innovation and delivering value-driven convenience to our customers. By offering this added flexibility with the new City Check-in service, we aim to improve the overall travel experience and support our customers' needs in a more personalised and accessible way.'Designed with convenience in mind, flydubai's Travel Shop in Sharjah features a comfortable waiting area, designated service desks and a porter service for baggage drop to enhance the overall customer experience. Customers can expect a range of travel-related services, including booking flights, making changes to their travel plans and choosing flydubai Holidays packages. The City Check-in service marks a significant step in flydubai's customer experience journey, enabling passengers to check in their baggage, receive their boarding pass and select their seat—all before arriving at the airport.
This new City Check-in service is aimed at reducing airport congestion and wait times, particularly during peak travel periods. Passengers who use the City Check-in service can drop their baggage as early as 24 hours and up to six hours before their flight, arriving at Terminal 2 at their leisure.

Dubai sees 95 project launches in Q1 2025, adds 29,000 units
Nearly 95 new projects were launched in Dubai in the first quarter of 2025, which are expected to add 29,000 residential units to the market, according to a report by real estate consultancy firm Cavendish Maxwell. Approximately 9,300 residential units were completed in the first quarter of 2025, with apartments accounting for 79 percent of the total and the remainder comprising villas and townhouses, the report said. This marks the second-highest quarterly completion volume in the past two years, surpassed only by the fourth quarter of 2023. Dubai's housing supply is expected to see substantial growth, with nearly 300,000 units projected to enter the market by 2028. A significant portion of this new supply is anticipated in 2026 and 2027, indicating a potential surge in completions during those years, the report said. Over the rest of 2025, 73,000 units are forecast for delivery. However, actual completions may be impacted by shifting market dynamics, evolving buyer preferences, and potential delays in construction timelines. 'Given these factors, it will be crucial to observe how developers adjust their strategies to manage this increased supply, respond to market demand, and ensure timely delivery,' the consultancy stated. Dubai home sales surge to record $18.2bln amid population boom
Dubai's property deals reached a record AED 66.8 billion ($18.2 billion) last month, marking a staggering 44% increase over a year ago amid a population boom. One of the major growth drivers, the primary ready segment of the market saw total sales quadrupling to AED17.9 billion in May 2025, while the secondary ready segment logged AED 24 billion in sales, representing a 21% year-over-year growth in value, according to Property Finder. Overall, the value of primary ready and off-plan sales rose by 65% to AED 37 billion, while total secondary sales grew 23% to AED 29 billion, achieving a new record. The latest figures indicate strong sentiment in the market and sustained appetite for Dubai real estate. Property Finder noted that Dubai has recently seen a huge influx of new residents and visitors, a trend that drives strong demand for housing. 'With the remarkable growth in population this year, welcoming nearly 1,000 new residents each day – double last year's daily visitor arrivals, demand for housing is poised to reach peak levels,' said Cherif Sleiman, Chief Revenue Officer at Property Finder. 'Against this backdrop, the real estate market is enjoying positive momentum, fuelled by digital transformation, international investor appetite and a surge in demand for premium living.'
