MBOR, BERNAMA TV Launch Series Honouring National Records

Barnama18-06-2025

KUALA LUMPUR, June 18 (Bernama) -- Viewers can expect a powerful wave of inspiration as the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) collaborates with BERNAMA TV to premiere a brand-new 13-episode television series titled "Malaysia Book of Records 2025: Malaysia Luar Biasa."
The series, set to air weekly on Tuesdays at 8.30 pm beginning August, promises to shine a light on record-breaking individuals and trailblazing organisations across the country, giving viewers a closer look at the remarkable achievements made by everyday Malaysians and prominent brands.
According to MBOR's Chief Executive Officer, Christopher Wong, with the tagline "Malaysia Luar Biasa," each episode of the programme will highlight two to three record-breaking achievements, ranging from personal feats to national-scale accomplishments, demonstrating Malaysians' drive and discipline.
"This series is about more than just celebrating records. It is a tribute to Malaysians' drive, talent, and resilience. Viewers can expect to be inspired by stories that demonstrate courage, creativity, and determination, reinforcing the message that greatness can emerge from any corner of the country," Christopher told reporters following the official launch here today.
Also present at the launching ceremony were Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) Chairman Datuk Seri Wong Chun Wai and MBOR Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Michael Tio.
Christopher explained that while MBOR has previously produced television content, this new series returns after a long hiatus and is being revived with a fresh approach.
The initiative was conceptualised earlier this year with the goal of raising public awareness about MBOR and encouraging more Malaysians to strive for record-breaking performances.
Christopher added that the series is expected to include 30 to 40 records across 13 episodes, with the production team carefully curating a mix of corporate accomplishments, community-driven efforts and individual triumphs that reflect Malaysia's diverse society.
Notably, Christopher said the launch coincides with MBOR's 30th anniversary, having certified nearly 8,000 records since its inception in 1995.

Tohoku Region Showcases Culture, Recovery At Osaka Expo 2025

GENERAL KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 (Bernama) -- The six Tohoku prefectures, in collaboration with the Tohoku Tourism Promotion Organization and the Tohoku Kizuna Festival Executive Committee, successfully hosted the 'Tohoku Four Seasons & Tohoku Kizuna Festival' at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, from June 13 to 15. In a statement, the organisers said the event served to express gratitude for the international support received following the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and to highlight the region's recovery and development. The festival aimed to promote the appeal of the Tohoku region, both domestically and internationally, showcasing its natural beauty, traditional culture, local cuisine, cutting-edge technology and warm hospitality, with the goal of attracting more visitors to the region. An opening ceremony was held on June 13, with the participation of the governors of the six Tohoku prefectures, other regional officials, local mascots, and MYAKU-MYAKU, the official mascot of Expo 2025. The event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a special showcase of signature festivals from each of the six prefectural capitals. The Tohoku Kizuna Festival, which featured summer festivals from Aomori, Morioka, Akita, Sendai, Yamagata and Fukushima, was initially scheduled for June 14 and 15; however due to inclement weather, performances on June 14 were moved indoors, while two outdoor parades were successfully held the following day. The Tohoku Kizuna Festival is a successor to the Tohoku Rokkon Festival, established to honour the memory of lives lost in the 2011 disaster and to support the region's reconstruction. While it is usually held within the Tohoku region, this year's edition was specially organised at the Osaka Kansai Expo. The six festivals represented were the Aomori Nebuta Festival, Morioka Sansa Odori Festival, Akita Kanto Festival, Sendai Tanabata Festival, Yamagata Hanagasa Festival and Fukushima Waraji Festival. The venue also featured large Nebuta and Tanabata decorations. Approximately 550 dancers participated in the parades, enthralling visitors with vibrant and powerful performances. Meanwhile, the 'Tohoku Four Seasons' event ran concurrently over the three-day period, featuring promotional booths from each prefecture, stage presentations, traditional craft workshops and local food tastings and sales—all contributing to a lively showcase of the region's rich heritage and tourism potential.

AKM launches Ekspresi Merdeka video contest for Malaysia MADANI theme

PUTRAJAYA: Akademi Kenegaraan Malaysia (AKM) has launched the Ekspresi Merdeka creative video contest, themed Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni, as part of the 2025 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations. The competition, open from June 5 to August 8, invites Malaysians to showcase their patriotism through innovative video submissions. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil announced that state-level winners will advance to the national finals, set for September 13. 'This contest aims to inspire Malaysians to celebrate independence with creativity,' he said during his weekly press conference. Details are available on AKM's official platforms. Fahmi, also the MADANI Government spokesperson, highlighted additional activities like interactive nationhood sessions and lucky draws during state-level prize ceremonies on August 23-24 and the national finale. The initiative involves collaboration with entities such as the Ministry of Education, Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, and Mydin Hypermarket. The Malaysia MADANI theme, announced earlier this month, will guide this year's National Day (August 31 in Putrajaya) and Malaysia Day (Penang) celebrations.
