UAE President awards Order of Zayed to US President in recognition of efforts to strengthen bilateral ties
ABU DHABI: President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan today awarded the Order of Zayed - the UAE's highest civilian honour granted to heads of state - to US President Donald Trump in recognition of his efforts to enhance cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and the United States.
The award also reflects the UAE's pride in the close and longstanding partnership between the two countries.
His Highness commended President Trump's role in reinforcing bilateral ties, stating, 'By awarding the Order of Zayed to President Donald Trump, we express our appreciation for his efforts to strengthen the ties that unite the UAE and US while underscoring our shared commitment to further expanding cooperation.'

World leaders have warned against further military escalations between Israel and Iran following two days of missile fire between the two countries. Prince Mohammed separately spoke to Mr Pezeshkian on Saturday to offer his "condemnation and denunciation" of the attacks. He said the kingdom called for "dialogue as the fundamental principle for resolving differences". Mr Erdogan also spoke with Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who said Israel's actions were "a blatant violation of international law and a threat to regional peace", according to his office. They also voiced solidarity with Palestine amid what they described as Israel's 'brazen military aggression,' which they said had continued 'with complete impunity.' Iraq meanwhile called on the US to prevent Israeli aircraft from breaching Iraqi airspace to carry out attacks against Iran, citing bilateral agreements and international law. 'The Iraqi government urges the United States to uphold its responsibilities under the agreements signed between the two countries and prevent aircraft belonging to [Israel] from once again violating Iraqi airspace,' military spokesman Sabah Al Numan said. Mr Starmer said further military assets are being deployed to provide 'contingency support' across the region amid escalating hostilities between the two long-time foes. He said that he wants to see a reduction in tensions in the region. 'My strong position is that this needs to de-escalate, and that is the primary focus of the discussions that I've been having,' he told reporters. Russian President Vladimir Putin meanwhile spoke to US President Donald Trump for 50 minutes on Saturday, focusing on hostilities between Israel and Iran and calling for efforts to bring them to an end. Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said Mr Putin condemned the Israeli military operation against Iran and expressed concern about the risks of escalation.

UAE's GDP reach AED 1,776bln in 2024 with four per cent growth
Abu Dhabi: The UAE's real gross domestic product (GDP) reached AED 1,776 billion in 2024, marking a 4 per cent increase compared to that of 2023. Non-oil GDP grew by 5 per cent, totaling AED 1,342 billion, while oil-related activities contributed AED 434 billion to the overall economy. H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, emphasized that the latest GDP figures released by the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre (FCSC) reflect a renewed and positive momentum in the national economy. They further underscore the new milestones achieved by the UAE in economic diversification and competitiveness, guided by the vision and directives of its wise leadership. Top performing economic sectors The transport and storage sector emerged as the fastest-growing contributor to GDP in 2024, recording a 9,6 per cent year-over-year growth. This growth was primarily driven by the exceptional performance of UAE airports, which handled 147,8 million passengers—an increase of approximately 10 per cent. The building and construction sector followed with an 8,4 per cent growth rate, supported by substantial investments in urban infrastructure. Financial and insurance activities expanded by 7 per cent, while the hospitality sector, encompassing hotels and restaurants, rose by 5,7 per cent. Meanwhile, the real estate sector recorded a 4,8 per cent growth. With regard to non-oil economic activities that contributed most to the GDP, the trade sector contributed 16,8 per cent, the manufacturing sector accounted for 13,5 per cent, and financial and insurance activities contributed 13,2 per cent. Construction and building contributed 11,7 per cent, while real estate activities accounted for 7,8 per cent of the non-oil GDP.
