Arkansas Storm Team Forecast: Overnight Storms Expected
After a calm evening, attention turns westward as a line of strong to severe thunderstorms begins forming across Texas and Oklahoma. These storms will push into southwest Arkansas after midnight, bringing the potential for damaging winds and large hail. Additional storm clusters moving out of northeast Oklahoma may also reach northern parts of the state later tonight.
The main window for severe weather will be from around midnight through early Monday morning. While storms will likely weaken as they move into central Arkansas, the threat for damaging winds and localized flooding. By tomorrow afternoon, most of the state should see storms push off towards the east with calmer conditions.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Wind and rain brought a temporary respite from the blazing sun Sunday. The weather also made for some interesting cloud formations (below). WAVY meteorologist Don Slater breaks down how it all played out: As expected, an active low pressure system (a mini-cyclone) moved eastward from halfway across the U.S. to get us this morning. We had numerous severe thunderstorm warnings from 5:47am to 9:45am, but damage appears to be limited to trees and power lines down. That damage was mostly in Southampton County, VA. Though we did see tree and power line damage in southern Chesapeake. After some quiet time in the late morning and early afternoon, it was also expected that we could see some severe weather in the afternoon. And though the thunderstorms were more widely scattered, we did get some damage to trees in James City County. As of 9:00 pm, more thunderstorms are approaching from the west…especially for areas from the Peninsula and northward. First Baptist Church of Timpson damaged during severe weather
TIMPSON, Texas (KETK) – The First Baptist Church in Timpson had much of its brick facade blown off by severe weather moving through the area on Sunday. Interactive Radar In photos submitted to KETK by a Timpson resident, bricks can be seen strewn around on the ground in front of the church. The bricks also fell on top of the church's awning that used to be over their front door but was crushed by the bricks. Sunday was the day of Pentecost and the church had a service in the morning before a severe storm came through the area at around 5 p.m. According to the church's Facebook, they were planning to start their vacation bible school on Monday. Shelby County was under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 7:45 p.m. and is currently under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 9 p.m. on Sunday night. 4Warn Storm Team tracking storms moving into Oklahoma Sunday
Live coverage ended at 7:38 p.m. OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – The 4Warn Storm Team is tracking more storms rolling into the state Sunday. Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected Sunday afternoon and evening across parts of Oklahoma, including the Oklahoma City metro. The high today will reach the upper 80s and low 90s with storms most likely between 5 and 9 p.m. According to KFOR Meteorologist Tim Boyd, some of the strongest storms, especially south/southwest of the metro, could bring large hail, damaging wind gusts over 80 mph, and even a chance of tornadoes.
