The Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility) participates in the Gulf Traffic Week 2025
Abu Dhabi: As part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing traffic awareness and promoting road safety for all road users, the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility), an affiliate of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, took part in the 40th edition of the Gulf Traffic Week. Held under the theme 'Drive without a phone' the event ran from 13 to 18 April 2025.
Abu Dhabi Mobility 's participation in this prominent event reaffirmed the Emirate's commitment to enhancing road safety and promoting a culture of traffic discipline. It also aimed to uphold the highest traffic safety standards across Abu Dhabi. The initiative was carried out under the framework of the Joint Traffic Safety Committee, led by the Department of Municipalities and Transport, with members including the Integrated Transport Centre, the Abu Dhabi Police General Headquarters, and the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi.
As part of its active participation in Gulf Traffic Week, Abu Dhabi Mobility emphasised the dangers of mobile phone use and driver distraction, both of which are among the main causes of road accidents. A range of awareness activities were organised, including panel discussions that explored critical road safety topics and stressed the need for concentration and alertness behind the wheel. The initiative also showcased successful international case studies aimed at minimising driver distraction.
As part of its participation in the GCC Traffic Week, Abu Dhabi Mobility showcased its strategic initiatives through an interactive platform held at City Centre Al Zahia in Sharjah, in collaboration with several government entities and private sector partners. The participation featured a showcase of strategic projects, including the Vision Zero strategy, which aims to enhance road safety by implementing engineering and technological interventions at high-risk locations such as intersections, pedestrian crossings, and roads with high accident rates.
The event also marked the launch of the pilot phase for the implementation of Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication technology on Sheikh Zayed Road, one of the key arterial roads in Abu Dhabi, with the aim of studying its impact on improving traffic flow and enhancing road user safety.
The exhibition further included a detailed presentation of the Smart Driving Test project, in addition to broadcasting awareness content through interactive screens and distributing educational materials focused on the importance of adhering to safe driving standards, particularly avoiding mobile phone use and distractions while driving.

Abu Dhabi Mobility also sought to amplify the campaign's messages by displaying the GCC Traffic Week logo on Darb toll gates at the entrances of the Abu Dhabi City, broadcasting traffic safety messages on electronic road signs across main roads, and lighting up key landmarks in Abu Dhabi in yellow to ensure the awareness message reaches all segments of society.
Dr. Abdulla Hamad AlGhfeli, Acting Director General of the Integrated Transport Centre, affirmed that Gulf Traffic Week provides an important platform to highlight unsafe driving behaviours and promote a culture of road safety across the community. He said: ' Abu Dhabi Mobility 's participation in this initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting national efforts aimed at enhancing traffic safety and raising public awareness of the dangers of distracted driving. Safe driving begins with focus and attention. Using a mobile phone while driving or being distracted by other factors is a leading cause of road accidents. Therefore, we remain dedicated to working closely with our partners across the public and private sectors to implement impactful awareness campaigns and foster a safer, smarter, and more sustainable mobility environment for all road users, in line with Abu Dhabi's vision.'

Abu Dhabi – As part of its ongoing efforts to regulate the use of truck yards and public parking facilities and enhance their operational efficiency across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), affiliated with the Department of Municipalities and Transport, has called on vehicle owners whose vehicles have been parked for more than six months in Musaffah's designated truck yard (M-18) to visit the on-site parking management office to complete the necessary procedures, including updating vehicle records and settling outstanding fees. The ITC confirmed that vehicles left parked for extended periods without fulfilling the required procedures, such as updating vehicle information and settling outstanding fees, may expose their owners to legal action, including the possibility of public auction in coordination with the relevant authorities and in accordance with the applicable regulations in the Emirate. The ITC urged the concerned vehicle owners to promptly complete the required procedures, noting that unauthorised parking or failure to register vehicle details constitutes a clear violation of public parking regulations. Such practices obstruct the flow of movement within the yards and negatively impact the visual appearance of the urban environment. This measure is part of the ITC's ongoing efforts to regulate parking usage, maintain smooth traffic flow, ensure public safety, and enhance the urban appearance of the Emirate.

Abu Dhabi – In its ongoing effort to improve the parking system and enhance quality of life in the Emirate, the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility), an affiliate of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, continues to enforce the guidelines for managing multi-storey parking in private buildings—whether residential, commercial, or mixed-use. This is carried out in accordance with Abu Dhabi's Parking Regulation Law No. (18) of 2009 and its corresponding executive regulations. This directive aims to improve compliance with the law by raising awareness among residents and property owners about the importance of following the approved management system. It seeks to ensure fair and efficient parking distribution without adding financial burdens or going beyond the Emirate's regulations. This system is designed to ensure the optimal use of parking spaces within buildings and to achieve a fair allocation that allows residents to fully benefit from these spaces without incurring any additional costs. Priority in allocation is always given to residents. Abu Dhabi Mobility oversees the implementation of this system through on-site inspection teams that monitor compliance with the laws and regulations, provide guidance to residents and property owners, and take legal action, including issuing fines, in cases of non-compliance. The parking allocation system varies according to the type of building. In residential buildings, one free parking space is allocated per apartment, starting with larger units and moving down to smaller ones. In cases where apartments are of the same size, priority is given to longer-term residents. In residential buildings constructed before the issuance of the law, one free parking space is allocated per apartment, starting with units that have the highest number of rooms and proceeding to those with fewer. If multiple units have the same size, priority is given to residents with longer tenancy. In mixed-use buildings that include both residential and commercial units, one free parking space is first allocated to each residential unit following the same order, while the remaining spaces are distributed among the commercial and service units based on their size, starting with the largest. In commercial buildings, free parking spaces are allocated to occupants of commercial and service units according to floor area, from largest to smallest. For buildings constructed after the issuance of the law, the technical requirements outlined in the executive regulations of Law No. (18) of 2009 apply. These regulations specify the number of parking spaces required for each building type, based on its designated use and total area. Abu Dhabi Mobility also highlighted the importance of property owners complying with regulations by not leasing or using parking spaces outside the legal framework without prior approval from the relevant authority, especially in buildings where the number of spaces exceeds residents' actual needs. Abu Dhabi's EV charging infrastructure gets major boost
In a major push for sustainable transport, Abu Dhabi Mobility (Integrated Transport Centre) has announced a large-scale rollout of electric vehicle charging stations across the UAE capital. The move supports the emirate's broader goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. The first phase includes 1,000 new EV chargers at 400 key locations, from Abu Dhabi Island to Al Ain and Al Dhafra. These stations, operating under the brand name 'Charge AD', will offer standardised rates - 70 fils per kilowatt-hour for AC chargers and AED 1.20 for fast DC chargers. The project is being delivered through public-private partnerships (PPP) and aims to expand charging access even further, including in hotels and shopping centres. A number of operators have been appointed to manage the stations under PPP contracts that cover the supply, installation, operation and maintenance. Abu Dhabi Mobility says the initiative is part of a larger plan to get half of all vehicles on the road running on electricity by 2040. Dr. Abdulla Hamed Al Ghfeli, Acting Director General of the Integrated Transport Centre, called the investment a key step in building a cleaner, smarter and more energy-efficient future. Electric vehicle ownership in Abu Dhabi is already accelerating, with over 15,000 EVs registered in the first quarter of this year alone - a 60 per cent jump from 2024.
