Factors to consider when choosing an espresso machine
FAQs
Update, Feb. 28, 2025: We checked all product prices and availability. We also added the Ninja Luxe Café to our list as the best multi-use espresso machine. Our number one pick for best espresso machine remains unchanged.

Weight: Some espresso machines are made for commercial use, which can make them super heavy. You don't want to put something holding too much weight on top of a counter that can't handle it, and you don't want to get hurt trying to lift a heavy machine.
Counter space: The dimensions of your espresso machine matter—make sure it can fit on your counter or under your overhead cabinets before making a big purchase.
Brew capacity: Each machine can brew a different maximum espresso, so take how much you want your machine to make into account. This depends on how much espresso you drink.
Type: There are a few types of espresso machines, which include manual, semiautomatic, automatic and super-automatic. A manual espresso machine requires you to grind your own beans and use a lever to determine your pour. Semiautomatic machines require you to grind your own beans and use a button or dial to determine your pour. Automatic machines require you to grind your own beans and use a button to determine how much espresso you're pouring. But super-automatic machines can grind the beans for you and use their own control to determine how much espresso you're pouring. It all depends on the experience you want from your machine.

Any and all coffee can be used in an espresso machine. However, your coffee might taste different than you're used to if you previously used a coffee machine. You'll have a learning curve with any new maker, and some aren't as user-friendly as others. Pre-ground coffee could come out watery when used in an espresso machine, which is something to be on the lookout for as a new user. Use a coffee grinder for any coffee beans you may already have, to make them a consistency that works for your machine.
There are different solutions and specialized brushes you can use for cleaning, but each machine is different. Scrub the basket and filter to make sure those are clean so your espresso doesn't have a weird taste. Rinse any removable items with warm water, too. To descale an espresso machine, dissolve a descaling solution in water and let it sit—run the machine, let it steam, turn it off and let it sit again. You can also use vinegar to try to descale.
You can make a variety of different coffee drinks with an espresso machine, like macchiatos, cappuccinos, mochas, lattes, flat whites and more, in addition to brewing espresso. You can also include a bunch of add-ons for your drinks—like milk foam and flavors—to make it feel like you just got your drink from your favorite coffee house.

This compact Nespresso is my secret to great coffee in a small kitchen — and it's 23% off
As a lifelong coffee lover, there are few things I appreciate more than the perfect cup of coffee or shot of espresso. But I know better than anyone that at-home barista dreams and city living aren't exactly compatible, as my lack of kitchen space has forced me to suffer with some less-than-ideal coffee makers over the years. Thankfully, a family member put me out of my misery and gifted me the Nespresso Vertuo Pop+, which makes all of the café-quality coffee and espresso drinks I love without monopolizing my precious counter space. If you, too, are on the hunt for a cute and compact brewing setup, you can get the machine 23% off now on Amazon. Follow our WhatsApp channel for more deals and buying guides The Pop+ machine, which our kitchen editors found to be the Nespresso machine with the best value in our best Nespresso machine guide, brews five sizes of Nespresso pods, from single espresso shots to 12-ounce cups of coffee. With the help of Nespresso's Aeroccino3 Milk Frother, I've used the machine to make both hot and iced specialty drinks like cappuccinos, americanos, and lattes that I would normally be willing to pay for in a coffee shop. With only a 30-second preheat time, getting the perfect brew has never been easier. Despite being Nespresso's smallest machine, the Pop+ has plenty of fun and convenient features. I love that it can be paired with the Nespresso app to give me recipe ideas and remind me when to descale the machine. The height of the cup stand can be adjusted, which helps minimize splatters while I'm brewing into a smaller cup. The machine also has a convenient compartment that collects used pods as you go, so you can recycle a bunch at once. Plus, it's super cute and comes in eight fun colors, so you can match it to your kitchen. Amazon I've used lots of single-serve, drip, percolator, and French press machines in the past, and the Nespresso consistently makes the best coffee, is the most versatile, and is the easiest to use. I'd recommend it to any coffee lover, regardless of how tight your space is. With hundreds of five-star ratings on Amazon, it seems I'm not alone in this opinion. "I thought my pour-over coffee was fast in the morning, but the Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ (with the accompanying milk frother) has changed my morning routine. It's a pleasure to get up and make my morning latte," said one reviewer. "Delicious coffee and I found myself not needing to add sweetener with the addition of the frothed milk. Very happy with my purchase." Unlike other machines that can be an eyesore, shoppers love having this one on their counter. "We are moving soon, and I have themed my entire kitchen around this machine because I love the color," said another reviewer who purchased the machine in mint. It's super sturdy, makes my coffee super fast, and is adorable." With the current discount on Amazon, certain colors of the Nespresso Vertuo Pop+ are just $100. Add it to your cart now while the deal lasts. More trending kitchen deals on Amazon Still shopping? Check out more kitchen deals on Amazon.

You'll find thousands of offers available online, and there are some true bargains to be had if you're willing to sift through all of the deals. Fortunately, CNET has done most of the heavy lifting for you, and we've collected some of best daily offers below. For today, June 6, that includes a top-rated pair of over-ear Beats headphones that you can grab for $70 off, a single-serve Keurig brewer that whips up refreshing iced coffees on sale for less than $60 and a previous-gen Samsung smartwatch available for just $99. If you find over-ear headphones to be a little bulky, the Beats Solo 4s are an excellent alternative. They're one of our favorite pairs of on-ear headphones for 2025, with our reviewer commending them for their sound quality, battery life and voice-calling performance. They lack active noise cancellation, but do support spatial audio if you're an Apple user. Plus, they boast an impressive 50 hours of listening time per charge. They're also very lightweight at just 217 grams, and the plush ear cushions help reduce outside noise. Now that the warm summer weather is here, a refreshing iced coffee is the perfect way to start your day. And with this single-serve Keurig brewer, you can make it at home in minutes. It has a special "brew over ice setting" that starts hot to help extract flavor and then cools down so it won't melt the ice and water down your drink. It has multiple different cup size settings, and this deal also comes with a 12-ounce tumbler so you can take your coffee on the go. This 2021 Samsung smartwatch is now three generations old, but it's a great option for those on a tight budget who don't want to spend $300 or more on the latest model. It's equipped with a 40mm display and 16GB of onboard storage, and still has all the basic features you need. These include tons of fitness tracking functions like preset workout modes, sleep tracking and even a built-in ECG, as well as some convenient smart features like on-wrist notifications and support for tons of Android apps. Both the black and pink gold variants are on sale.

Russian hackers target Greek company
Nespresso customers in Greece received a notification on 21 May about a possible personal data leak following a cyberattack on its logistics partner, Orphee Beinoglou International Transportation. Source: Ekathimerini, as reported by European Pravda Details: In February 2025, a Russian-speaking ransomware group called Clop claimed responsibility for the attack. The compromised data may include the names, phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, and tax numbers of customers who submit invoices. Nespresso advised customers to be cautious about emails or phone calls asking for personal or financial information. They should also avoid opening links or attachments from unknown sources and use security software on their devices. A representative of Orphee Beinoglou confirmed the breach, stating that the company had notified its partners, ensured that no financial data had been leaked, and strengthened its security measures. The Clop group, which has been active since 2019, was brought to the FBI's attention in 2023 due to attacks on US federal agencies. Experts recorded 384 violations by Clop in 2023. The Greek Data Protection Authority and the National Cybersecurity Authority were informed. Separately, Adidas customers in Greece received similar messages. Background: On 29 May, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced the extension of the BRAVO and BRAVO–CRP alert levels due to increased hybrid threats from Russia and Belarus ahead of the second round of presidential elections. Krzysztof Gawkowski, Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Affairs, said Russia was making an unprecedented attempt to interfere in the presidential election.
