The Edge at Lowry complex in Aurora officially closes
AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — The notorious apartment complex, The Edge at Lowry in Aurora, officially shut down Tuesday morning.
A court order demanded the complex near Dallas Street and East 12th Avenue be closed by 8 a.m. The judge issued the emergency order to close the complex in January, calling the complex an 'immediate threat to public safety.'
FOX31's Jim Hooley said all residents vacated the complex before the 8 a.m. deadline.
However, advocates for the people living at The Edge at Lowry claim residents didn't receive the proper treatment from the city and enough help to move out. In total, they said 32 families have been relocated with help from the community, donations and grants from the city.

The closure stems from the alleged takeover of the complex by suspected Venezuelan gang members. There have also been several reported criminal offenses at the complex.
According to a petition filed by the city of Aurora, The Edge at Lowry had over 60 offenses since September 2023, including reports of aggravated assault with a gun or blunt weapon, robbery, larceny and several other crimes.
The complex was the scene of armed apartment break-ins captured on surveillance videos and a deadly shooting in the summer of 2024.
The city of Aurora is still locked in a legal battle over violation at the apartments with the owner of the complex.
Both sides are due in court next month.

The driver was convulsing and vomiting, but thanks to Reedbravery, she survived. 'This lady was having a seizure while driving, and the Lord gave me the strength to stop her vehicle before an accident occurred,' Reed later shared. 'Lord, I thank you for putting me in this position this morning.' Reed's mother added a touching detail — Zion was born weighing just 1 lb. 14 oz. 'We knew he was going to be special,' she said. In an emotional message sent to WRBL, the woman whose life was saved personally thanked both men. She said she is grateful beyond words and overwhelmed by their courage, saying she may not be alive today if not for their actions. The Troup County Sheriff's Office and City of LaGrange say both men embody the very best of their community. Jax's mother says her daughter's body was found in Lakewood Friday night, although Lakewood police have not confirmed that.
