Although the Sky carried a two-game winning streak into the Commissioner's Cup, they have been set back by a 27-point loss to the Indiana Fever and a 19-point defeat at the hands of the 9-0 New York Liberty.
Angel Reese scored a season-high 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season in Tuesday's loss to the Liberty. She also shot a season-best 8-for-13 from the field and added three assists.
Chicago did lose 15-year veteran point guard Courtney Vandersloot for the season due to an injury she suffered against Indiana, so backup guard Rachel Banham played a season-high 27 minutes against the Liberty.

As the Sky adjust to life without Vandersloot, who was averaging 12.0 points and 6.2 assists per game through six contests, they have struggled offensively. In the two games since her injury, the Sky have averaged just 59 points per contest.

Before Friday's matchup against the 6-3 Atlanta Dream, head coach Tyler Marsh addressed the media about the team's offensive struggles. He honed in on two problems in particular that have plagued Chicago during its losing streak.
"I think there's two areas offensively where accountability can be had," Marsh said. "I think that's with turnovers and that's with our movement."
Reese has seen a slight dip in production from her 13.6-point, 13.1-rebound per game averages in 2024. She is contributing 10.1 points and 12.1 rebounds per contest this season for the Sky.
Ariel Atkins has been the team's leading scorer at 13.4 points per game, and she is also chipping in 3.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest. Kamilla Cardoso is pitching in 10.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per night during her sophomore campaign as well.

Friday night's matchup between the Sky and Dream will tip off at 7:30 p.m. ET at Gateway Center Arena in College Park, Georgia.

Angel Reese, Chicago Sky drop third straight game as slump continues with loss to Dream
Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky's slump continued on Friday night with the team's third straight loss and seventh of the season, this time against the Atlanta Dream. Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca said earlier this week that the team would need to see more production out of the former LSU star, but Reese struggled to turn things around in the 88-70 loss that saw the Dream's Rhyne Howard drop a season-high of 36 points and a career-high nine three-pointers. "We've got to do a better job of stopping the bleeding as it's going," head coach Tyler Marsh told reporters after the game. "I think we did about as good a job as you could do defensively in that first half and for parts of that third quarter and executed our defensive game plan. But we've got to continue to put together a full 40-minute game." Reese went 0-for-2 in the first quarter but recorded five rebounds and two assists. She followed that in the second with eight points and went 3-for-4. But the Sky's attempt at turning things around faltered in the third as Atlanta pulled away. She finished the game with 12 points and nine rebounds. Statistically, Reese has struggled this season, compared to last year's All-Star-worthy performance. Her field goal percentage has dropped, she is averaging 10.3 points a game compared to last season's 13.6, and her average turnover per game is up 3.8 compared to her rookie average of 3.5. "She's had some great games, and she's had some games like everybody else that haven't been her best," Pagliocca told the Chicago Sun-TImes this week. "But she's our best chance at versatility on this roster. We need more production out of her, but we need her to help us in other ways, too. A new head coach and revamped roster have put the Sky's growing pains on full display. "It's a long season and there's a lot of games left, but this is unexpected, and I've been very disappointed," Pagliocca added. "We had pretty big, significant expectations for this season. That's why I made the moves I made." The Sky sit at the bottom of the Eastern Conference with a 2-7 record. They'll look to turn things around when they travel to Connecticut to play the Sun on Sunday. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Pascal Siakam Joins LeBron James in History Amid NBA Finals
Pascal Siakam Joins LeBron James in History Amid NBA Finals originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Indiana Pacers' remarkable run to the NBA Finals has been defined by fast-paced scoring, stingy defense and clutch shooting, as the No. 4–seeded team knocked off the Milwaukee Bucks and Cleveland Cavaliers before defeating the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals to earn a spot on basketball's biggest stage. Advertisement Pascal Siakam has been instrumental throughout, providing Indiana with extensive championship experience and veteran leadership. During the 2024-25 regular season, he averaged 20.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game on 51.9 percent shooting from the field across 78 contests. Through 20 playoff games, Siakam has logged 33.4 minutes per night while averaging 20.6 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists, along with 1.2 steals and 0.6 blocks per contest. Advertisement In Game 4, Siakam delivered a defensive masterclass—recording four steals in the first quarter—a feat unmatched in any NBA Finals quarter since LeBron James achieved the same in the 2014 Finals. That 2014 series saw James average 28.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals over five games, while shooting 57.1 percent from the floor. Despite his two-way brilliance and one of the greatest Finals performances in history, Miami fell to the Spurs 4–1. As the series shifts back to Oklahoma City for Game 5, Siakam's historic quarter stands as a testament to his two-way impact, placing him in elite company and spotlighting his pivotal role in Indiana's championship quest. Cameras Catch Rory McIlroy Meltdown at Oakmont Club in US Open
Cameras Catch Rory McIlroy Meltdown at Oakmont Club in US Open originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Cameras in the grandstands and on broadcasting towers were rolling as Rory McIlroy reached his breaking point during the second round of the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club. Advertisement After misplacing his drive at the drivable par‑4 17th, McIlroy spun around in frustration and unleashed a powerful swing, obliterating the white tee marker with his driver. The outburst quickly went viral on social media, underscoring just how punishing Oakmont can be. He was not the only one; several others, like Scottie Scheffler and Shane Lowry, also lost their cool during the event. Despite that meltdown and an earlier club‑throw on the par‑5 12th, McIlroy rallied when it mattered most. After flirting with disaster through much of his round, he rolled in a clutch five‑foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to card a 72 and squeeze past the cutline at six‑over par. He has played a tough Open and performed poorly before so this emotion isn't new." A fan commented. Advertisement "Was glad to see him get the slam but hard to root for a guy who behaves like this" Another said. "Good thing he won at Augusta cuz my man does not handle failure any better than a petulant child." One fan posted. "Classless behavior from Rory McIlroy. Don't judge someone's character from how they act in victory, judge it by how they act in defeat. Rory has no class." Another wrote. "My kids are happily watching the US Open and just saw Rory McIlroy destroy the tee marker. They are scarred for life, asked me to turn it off. What a terrible example he just set" A fan expressed. Advertisement "For someone who's carried the PGA Tour's banner. Rory McIlroy's recent behavior, media silence, outbursts, board drama, feels off. Not a great look. ⛳️👀" Another said.
