Trump orders major deportation push in Democrat-led cities

NEW YORK: US President Donald Trump on Sunday directed federal authorities to ramp up deportation efforts in Democrat-led cities, doubling down on a politicised anti-immigration drive after major protests in Los Angeles.

"These, and other such Cities, are the core of the Democrat Power Center," he claimed, citing debunked right-wing conspiracy theories that undocumented immigrants are voting in US elections in significant numbers.
Trump has made deporting undocumented immigrants a key priority for his second term, after successfully campaigning against an alleged "invasion" by criminals.Raids by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency in Los Angeles have sparked days of mainly peaceful protests, though they have seen sporadic violence at times.Trump has pounced on the violent incidents to deploy 4,000 National Guards and 700 Marines to the Democrat-led city, against the wishes of local and state authorities.
ADVERTISEMENT California has sued to regain control of the National Guardsmen from Trump, arguing he overstepped his authority. That suit is working its way through federal court.

'In the coming hours, the Israeli army will operate in this area, as it has over recent days in other parts of Tehran, to strike military infrastructure belonging to the Iranian regime,' Adraee said. 'Your presence in this area endangers your life. For your safety and security, we urge you to immediately evacuate." he said. Several important state institutions, government offices, and semi-governmental organisations, as well as communication and intelligence facilities are located in District C, Xinhua news agency reported. The Israeli military said in a statement that since the morning hours, Israeli warplanes have struck trucks containing weapons and surface-to-air missile launchers, advancing from western Iran toward Tehran.

But one of the other lawmakers was on vacation and the suspect left the other house after police arrived early Saturday, acting attorney Joseph Thompson said. The suspect, Vance Boelter, meticulously planned out the attacks, carrying out surveillance missions and disguising himself as a police officer on the night of the attacks. A list of about 70 names was found from the fake police vehicle that was left at the crime scene, said officials. The list included state and federal lawmakers and community leaders, along with abortion rights advocates. Boelter surrendered to police Sunday after they found him in the woods near his home following a massive manhunt over nearly two days. He is accused of fatally shooting former Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband in their home. He also shot senator John Hoffman, a Democrat, and his wife.
