Take measures to prevent spread of contagious diseases: CM

Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu instructed officials of the Municipal Administration Department to prioritise cleanliness in municipalities and municipal corporations and to take preventive measures against the spread of infectious diseases.
On Saturday, the Chief Minister conducted a review meeting on the department at the CM camp office.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed the officials to prevent the outbreak of infectious diseases. He said in some areas, poultry waste is making the environment unhygienic.
'Poultry waste should not be dumped indiscriminately. Implement a regulated system for its disposal. Bring in a dedicated poultry waste management policy. If needed, explore linking it with the circular economy,' Naidu said.
Referring to DWCRA groups, the Chief Minister said women's development was being achieved through the groups. 'We must work to increase the demand for their products and ensure high quality.'
He asked the officials to provide continuous skill development training to DWCRA women. Government efforts should lead to higher income and improved living standards for DWCRA women. MEPMA officials must keep this objective in mind. Facilitate marketing of their products through e-commerce platforms and other online channels.
The Chief Minister also asked the officials to take measures to save electricity. He stressed the need to maintain high standards of quality in Anna Canteens.
'Even during financial difficulties, we are continuing this programme. Accept contributions from anyone who comes forward to donate,' the CM directed.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to review Central govt funds and Ensure there are no delays in projects under AMRUT, AMRUT-2, AIIB and UIDF,' Naidu emphasised. Municipal Administration Minister Narayana and senior officials from the Municipal and Finance Departments participated in the review.

As the last date to file income tax return (ITR) on Sept 15 looms closer, taxpayers can file their tax returns using ITR-1 or ITR-4. Notably, excel utilities of other income tax forms have yet not been released including the ones for ITR-2 and ITR-3. To be able to file their income tax return via any of the forms released so far, taxpayers can visit e-filing portal and follow the due process as listed below. I. As you log in to your account and click submit return, you need to first choose the assessment year i.e., 2025-26 for filing the return of FY 2024-25. II. Then the system will ask you to choose the category of taxpayer i.e., individual or HUF. III. In the next step, you will have to choose the tax form which you need to choose based on the category of source of income. For salaried employees, it is ITR-1 and for persons with business and profession, it is ITR-4. It is worth mentioning that you will have to wait for a few more days if your income bracket aligns with any other tax form i.e., ITR-2 or ITR-3. As of now, taxpayers can choose between these two tax forms only IV. As soon as click this, the system will tell that the new tax regime is the default regime. Govt plans to add 2,536 new buses into RTC fleet in state

As many as 2,536 additional buses would be inducted into the existing fleet of Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation ( APSRTC ) to implement the free bus travel scheme for women. Officials of the state-run corporation submitted the estimates on the scheme to chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday. APSRTC has not included new buses in its fleet for a long time, and there will be an additional requirement of buses as the passenger rush is likely to increase once the scheme is implemented. Officials estimate that an amount of ₹996 crore is required to induct new buses. They also explained the need to improve other facilities like drinking water, sanitation, bus information systems, and other amenities at bus stations. In a review meeting on the free bus scheme with the CM, officials said they estimate the number of journeys by women is likely to increase by about 78% after the scheme is rolled out. The total number of trips by women is likely to increase from 49.91 crore to 88.90 crore trips annually. Naidu suggested officials to go for new buses or take buses on rental basis if required. He said all new buses to be inducted into APSRTC fleet henceforth should be electric-AC buses. He also suggested exploring the possibility of converting existing diesel buses into electric ones. He also wanted GPS installation in every bus to be made mandatory, while stressing on the cleanliness of bus stations and buses. The chief minister made it clear that the scheme will be rolled out from Aug 15 despite financial difficulties. 'In view of the challenges being faced by the state, public money should be utilised efficiently,' he said, and suggested looking for additional revenue sources focusing on cost reduction. Even in the procurement of new buses, he asked officials to explore all options to ease the financial burden on the govt. He suggested officials to study the best implementation models, explore options to generate own power for EV buses, hand over maintenance to private players, and explore battery swapping options.
