A Brazil native wins Country Music Award in Nashville this week
BRAZIL, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A Brazil man has won his very own Country Music Award this past week at the 19th Touring Country Music Awards.
Most of us know the Country Music Awards with lots of glitz and glam, on live television all while awarding some of the biggest country stars. With that, there is also CMA Touring Awards, which awards the crew members who work behind the scenes of tours.
Recently, a Brazil man won his very own Country Music Award for Tour Video Director of the Year. Although, this is not the first year he has been victorious.
Tyler Hutcheson, born and raised in Brazil, a Northview High School graduate, and former Indiana State University student, was heavily involved in theatre and arts his whole life.
Fast forward, he now serves as the Tour Video Director for country-star Luke Combs. And has won his very own CMA award. Hutcheson was up against some of the biggest tour video directors in the business including Tim McGraw, Chris Stapleton, and Miranda Lambert.
'There (are) so many fantastic people in the category, I never think that I even had any chance,' said Tyler Hutchenson. 'It's always mind-blowing to hear my name. It's been such a special thing not only for me but for the community. There's so many people that have worked to help make this possible. It's not just me. It's my name on it, but it's so many other people.'
Moving forward, Tyler is in his 11th year in the touring business and now has a new trophy to add to his collection. He plans to add it on his piano, next to his 2023 CMA award.
'I'm still a little numb from it. I don't believe it's real. It's something magical and very special for sure,' said Hutcheson.
He also mentioned that Dave Targett, a Wabash Valley native was a part of the recent Luke Combs' CMA Crew of the Year Award.

WATCH: Terre Haute Strawberry Festival returns this week
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — The Terre Haute Strawberry Festival is coming up this Thursday, June 12 outside of the First Congregational Church of Terre Haute. The festival is free to enter. It runs from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. outside of the church. Chances and Services for Youth is partnering up with organizers to put on this year's annual festival. Brandon Halleck with CASY, and festival organizer Gwen Hicks joined David and Jen Tuesday morning on WTWO Today to talk about the event and all of the fun they have planned. You can see the full interview at the top of the page. Attendees can purchase the strawberry 'works' treat for $10, which includes a sweet biscuit, strawberries, ice cream and whipped topping. There will be tables for people to sit and enjoy their treats, while listening to live music. There will also be a play area for children. 'Come back out and relive those memories you've had or if it's your first time, see what memories you will make. Bring the family, bring friends, make an afternoon out of it. Enjoy the music. CASA's Pirate Palooza kicks off summer with fun activities
VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Vigo County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) will hold its Pirate Palooza, Saturday, as a way to kick off the summer. It's a closed event for the children that CASA serves. The organization said about 400 kids will be participating in the pirate-themed event, complete with costumes, obstacle courses, bounce houses and giveaways. Vigo County CASA celebrates 40 years With support from Bogey's, Pepsi, Elks Lodge 86 and the Putnamville Correction Facility, CASA said it will be a summer bash the kids will remember. 'A lot of kids that we serve don't get the opportunity to do any grand vacations or travel, or things like that. So, this is our opportunity to give them a way to have memories for the summer to kick off and just have a good day,' said Glenna Cheesman, Director of Vigo County CASA. 'This is a day for us to just hang out with the kids and just be kids ourselves, and be pirates. Who doesn't like pirates?' Free admission offered at historic Indiana sites during Juneteenth
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — In honor of Juneteenth, the Indiana State Museum and Historical Sites will offer free admission to all of its locations across the state on Saturday, June 21. Juneteenth is a federal holiday recognized on June 19 and commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States following the Civil War. Three locations in southwest Indiana — Angel Mounds, New Harmony, and Vincennes State Historical Sites — will welcome visitors from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. as a way to celebrate the holiday. The beginner's guide to celebrating Juneteenth The Indiana State Museum and Historical Sites said visitors at the Angel Mounds State Historical Site will be able to explore the newly transformed interpretive center, which showcases the modern perspective of native descendants of the Mississippi culture from 1100-1450 A.D. Attendees will also be able to learn how the mounds were created to align with certain celestial events, such as the summer and winter solstices, and the special meaning this site has in today's world. Juneteenth at WH: 'Black history is American history' During visitors' trip to the New Harmony State Historical Site, they will be able to hear stories of the early utopian communities — the Harmonists and the Owenites — that once called the area home. Visitors will also be able to walk the halls of the Fauntleroy House and Thrall's Opera House — buildings early utopian communities left behind. The Indiana State Museum and Historical Sites said tours will offer tours at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., CDT. Community House No. 2 will also be open throughout the day for guests to explore during self-guided tours. ISU holds Juneteenth celebration on campus At the Vincennes State Historical Site, visitors can learn more about Indiana's time as a territory by exploring the state's oldest town and former territorial capital from 1800-1813. Guided tours will be offered at the original Territory Capital building, the Jefferson Academy, the Elihu Stout print shop and the Old French House, offering visitors insight on what life was like during Indiana's territorial period. Building tours will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., EDT. Guests can also learn more about the area's importance as an early military outpost during self-guided tours at Fort Knox II. The Indiana State Museum and Historical Site said the tours are first-come, first-served, and advanced registration is encouraged by calling the sites directly.
