Man accused of depositing check meant for GA county commissioners into personal account
A man was arrested after deputies said he stole a check and deposited it into his own account.

In September 2024, Darrell Lee Powell, mobile depositing a check for $18,562.33 into his personal Fidelity account, deputies say.
However, officials said, the check belonged to the Floyd County Board of Commissioners.
According to Floyd County authorities, the check was somehow altered and made to be paid in the order of Powell.

Last month, deputies issued a warrant for Powell's arrest.
He was arrested and charged with identity fraud.
Powell was booked into the Floyd County Jail.

43-year-old arrested after stealing car at gunpoint, prompting chase, police say
A man is in custody after police said he stole a car at gunpoint and led officers on a chase Thursday. Suspects accused of bringing contraband to Fulton jail annex, cutting through fence
Sheriff's deputies captured three people they say attempted to sneak in drugs, phones and food to inmates at the Fulton County Jail South Annex. Malachi Abdul-Baqi, Matthew Abdul-Baqi and Asia Henry each face multiple charges, including conspiracy to commit a felony and interference of government property. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] A deputy found the three suspects Wednesday after discovering a hole in the fence during a perimeter patrol, according to the arrest affidavit. He said he saw the three people lying down near the opening, along with a pair of bolt cutters. Malachi Abdul-Baqi and Henry each received bonds totaling $30,000, Matthew Abdul-Baqi's bond totaled $25,000. Henry posted bond Thursday, according to jail records. All three were also charged with purchase, possession, manufacture, distribution or sale of marijuana, and Malachi Abdul-Baqi and Henry received an additional charge of possession of tools for commission of a crime. Father accused of killing 3 daughters in Washington served at Fort Benning
Fort Benning confirmed that a man being sought by authorities in Washington in connection with his three daughters' deaths served at the Georgia Army post. Travis Caleb Decker, 32, served at Fort Benning from 2018 to 2020, the Public Affairs Office said. Authorities in Washington state are still searching for Decker one week after he and his daughters didn't return from a planned custody visit, our sister station KIRO reports. Authorities found Becker's three girls dead Monday. The bodies of 9-year-old Paityn, 8-year-old Evelyn and 5-year-old Olivia were discovered Monday near Decker's unoccupied truck near a campground in Leavenworth, Wash., KIRO said.
