In the presence of Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, The Climate Tribe has launched The Climate Tribe Hub - Abu Dhabi's first sustainable collaboration hub.The hub also functions as a fully-operating business that supports brands, organisations, and institutions in communicating their sustainability efforts through an impact production studio, white-labelled storytelling, and bespoke community engagement initiatives.The Climate Tribe Hub's first event was The Climate Tribe Live!, an intimate gathering to showcase the organisation's impact and set the tone for what's to come. The inaugural event, set within the entirely sustainably designed hub, showcased the power of creativity, collaboration, and community as catalysts for transformation. Guests had the chance to learn more about The Climate Tribe's journey so far and the group's impact through a captivating short film.Established by Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan in 2023, The Climate Tribe is a UAE-based social enterprise dedicated to inspiring collective climate action. Serving as a platform for sharing creative ideas and mobilising the local community through workshops and activations around the UAE, The Climate Tribe has now opened the doors to its own collaborative hub in Abu Dhabi.Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President and CEO of The Climate Tribe, shared her inspiration for the organisation, perspectives on the current state of global climate action, and her aspirations for a more sustainable future in the UAE and beyond.Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan said: 'The Climate Tribe began with a vision to inspire climate action through storytelling, creativity, and shared purpose. With 2025 being the Year of Community in the UAE, we are proud to align with our national vision as we now mark this new chapter in our journey.'Building on the impact we have created through dynamic storytelling, community engagement and bold partnerships over the last two years, the opening of our Hub paves the way for deeper conversations and tangible solutions in our collective mission towards climate action. I look forward to seeing the ideas and collaborations that will flourish within this space to shape a more sustainable future.'The Climate Tribe Live! also took attendees through the journey of transforming an online movement into a physical home by highlighting The Climate Tribe Hub's innovative and community-centered sustainable design. Developed hand in hand with local artisans, makers, and designers, the Hub is a celebration of collaboration, creativity, and Emirati heritage. Contributors included Alchemy, Alghadeer Emirati Crafts, Date Form by ARDH Collective, Byblos, Datecrete, Desert Board, PlyPalm, Tashkeel and Tibrah who all played a vital role in shaping the space through thoughtful design choices and low-impact, locally sourced materials. Built not just as a co-working venue, but more importantly as a co-creation space, the hub brings together creativity and cause under one roof, offering a place for the community to connect, ideate, and drive climate action. Following a mini-documentary on the hub's development, members of The Climate Tribe's leadership team – including Executive Director, Hind Al Ghseen; Editor-in-Chief, Manal Shaikh; and Director of Community Impact, Aysha Hareb Al Dhaheri – shared their reflections on the design process and how it aligns with the group's mission.Spotlighting the community behind The Climate Tribe, the session concluded with a panel discussion from workshop participants, filmmakers, editors, and project partners who shared what being part of the movement has meant to them. In a relaxed yet engaging discussion, they highlighted the real people and stories behind every project and the ripple effect on the environment, reinforcing The Climate Tribe Hub as a space for collaboration and driving positive change.Reflecting on the launch of The Climate Tribe Hub and the success of its inaugural gathering, Hind Al Ghseen, Executive Director at The Climate Tribe, said: 'The Climate Tribe Hub is a true reflection of our values – built in collaboration with local artisans, designers, and sustainability experts who brought the space to life using thoughtful, low-impact practices. From the materials chosen to the storytelling woven into every corner, the hub celebrates Emirati heritage and community craftsmanship. It stands as a symbol of what can be achieved when creativity, culture, and purpose come together.' Since its founding in 2023, The Climate Tribe has united over 2,200 community members through meaningful, hands-on action. Beyond its digital platform of creative climate resources, the group has facilitated over 70 community initiatives, contributing to the planting of 921 trees and the collecting and recycling of 8,656 kilograms of waste.

Ben Sulayem recently returned from an official visit to Japan where he met Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and other leading officials, and was given deep insights the country's influence on global transportation and its status as a rising motorsport powerhouse. 'Throughout our discussions it became clear that Japan's approach is a model for nations across the world,' said the FIA President. 'From sustainable fuels to smart infrastructure, Japan continues to push boundaries in ways that align with the FIA's global mission.' Japan and the UAE continue to strengthen their trade partnership, with the UAE maintaining its position as Japan's top Gulf trade partner - accounting for 43.6% of Japan's total trade with Middle Eastern countries. In 2024, bilateral trade reached $49.6 billion, marking a steady 1.2% increase compared to 2023. Last year, Japanese exports to the UAE totalled $12.73 billion, vehicles and the automotive industry leading the way at $4.7 billion, a marked 10.9% year-on-year growth fuelled by strong demand for SUVs, sedans, and hybrid vehicles . 'This collaboration is not just about trade, it is about a shared vision for our global future,' said Ben Sulayem. 'Prime Minister Ishiba's leadership in promoting sustainable and innovative mobility solutions is setting a powerful precedent, ensuring that Japan remains at the forefront of advancements in transportation, investing annually over $38 billion in mobility infrastructure. His dedication to fostering innovation is equally clear in Japan's motorsport industry. A surge in fan engagement and a growing pipeline of talented drivers, Japan is rapidly solidifying its status as a global motorsport hub.' Japan produces around 8.23 million vehicles annually , but is not just a country that builds cars - it is a nation that defines how the world moves. 'With groundbreaking developments in sustainable mobility, artificial intelligence, and a community-first approach, Japan is shaping the future of transportation,' said Ben Sulayem. 'The nation's innovation verges at times on what could feel like science fiction - magnetic levitation cars developed by researchers at the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology eliminate the need for traditional engines and batteries, promising higher energy efficiency and a broad sustainable impact . ' The FIA President says Japan's passion for motorsport is contributing to a growing sporting scene and a stronger impact globally, as the country continues to set a high standard, from grassroots to its F1 Japanese Grand Prix which draws record crowds year on year. Sheikh Hamdan announces plan to support Emiratis in future job markets
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, on Thursday chaired the Dubai Executive Council meeting with education high on the agenda. The council approved a project to attract top international universities to the emirate while putting together the Academic and Career Guidance Policy. This, Sheikh Hamdan said, will help Emirati students in future job markets with targeted academic and career support. 'Today, I chaired The Executive Council meeting and approved a set of policies and strategies to reinforce Dubai's position as a global hub for education and future-ready talent,' he wrote on X. 'We approved a project to attract top international universities, aiming to position Dubai among the world's top 10 destinations for undergraduate and postgraduate students.' 'Aligned with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's vision for a knowledge-based economy, the project will be implemented in partnership with KHDA and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism,' Sheikh Hamdan added. 'We also approved the Academic and Career Guidance Policy to help Emirati students thrive in future job markets through targeted academic and career support.' A focus on the environment The Crown Prince of Dubai also revealed the approval of the Air Quality Strategy 2030, while also setting out plans for a new centre to mediate legal disputes. The clean air initiative follows a similar project announced in February, known as the Super Block initiative, which will target urban areas to make them more pedestrian-friendly. It is hoped that this will enhance quality of life, sustainability and boost social interaction between communities. It also aims to reduce carbon emissions by designating car-free residential areas and increasing green spaces. Areas such as Al Fahidi, Abu Hail, Al Karama, and Al Quoz Creative Zone will be the first to be boosted by the initiative. 'Enhancing quality of life remains a key priority. We approved the Air Quality Strategy 2030, which will be implemented by Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority, in partnership with relevant entities, with the aim of fostering a healthy and safe environment for all,' he continued on Thursday. 'During the meeting, we also approved the Dubai International Mediation Centre project to provide an efficient and transparent platform for alternative dispute resolution. 'We also approved the Governance Policy for Government Construction Projects to standardise procedures, enhance transparency, strengthen private-sector partnerships, and ensure efficient delivery and high-quality outcomes.'
