Northern California facing dangerous heat this week, Extreme Heat Watch issued
A big shift in the weather is in store for Northern California this week as the first triple-digit temperatures appear to be on their way.
Some places could even see record-highs, according to the National Weather Service.
With well above normal temperatures expected this week, Moderate HeatRisk and areas of Major HeatRisk are in the forecast. Widespread triple digits are possible on Friday, with near record to record highs. Practice heat safety! #cawx

After a relatively cool Memorial Day Weekend, things are expected to start warming up on Tuesday. Temperatures are expected to fluctuate around slightly above normal.
Come Friday, however, is when the major onslaught should begin.
Extreme Heat Watch
With temperatures expected to hit the triple-digits for the first time this season, NWS has issued an Extreme Heat Watch for the Sacramento Valley, Delta, Foothills and northern Coastal Range starting Friday at 11 a.m. until Saturday at 11 p.m.

Triple-digit highs are expected across the valley, with areas north of Interstate 80 expected to get the hottest on Friday.
Limited overnight relief is expected, according to NWS, with low temperatures of over 65 degrees forecasted.
Temperatures are expected to come down by Sunday, with seasonable weather forecasted by Monday.

Back in March, the Folsom Zoo welcomed a bear named Herbie after the closure of a different Northern California wildlife facility. Drone video captures moment giant wave swallows up swimmers on Mexican beach
A harrowing scene unfolded along a Mexico beach Sunday as drone footage captured swimmers becoming swamped by a huge wave in the wake of Tropical Storm Alvin. The nearly 2 1/2-minute video shows walls of angry surf crashing onto the sandy shoreline of Icacos Beach, giving three swimmers quite the ride as they bobbed up and down – and sometimes disappeared beneath – the swells. At about the 1:13 mark, the trio are pushed under as a massive swell comes ashore, with surf covering the entire sandy beach. 'A group of people swam despite warnings and were swept up by the swell,' Adolfo Kahan Farco, who recorded the video, told Storyful. While there is no official word on their fate, Farco told Storyful it appeared they escaped unharmed. The incident occurred after Tropical Storm Alvin, the first named storm of the eastern Pacific Ocean hurricane season, produced giant swells off the coast of southwest Mexico. But the National Weather Service had warned that the swells left from Alvin would continue to create potentially dangerous surf and rip current conditions along the coasts of west-central Mexico and southern Baja California through the weekend.

4-alarm fire in San Francisco's Inner Richmond damages homes overnight, over 30 displaced
A four-alarm fire in San Francisco's Inner Richmond neighborhood early Friday morning has damaged several homes and displaced more than 30 people, firefighters said. Shortly after 1:50 a.m., firefighters were called to the 500 block of 5th Avenue, between Balboa and Anza streets. The fire, which grew to four-alarms, involved five 3-story multi residential dwellings. More than 130 firefighters responded to the fire, which was put under control around 4:30 a.m. BREAKING 4-ALARM FIRE 500 BLOCK OF 5TH AVE AT BALBOA AND ANZA The San Francisco Fire Department is currently responding to an active 4-alarm structure fire, and over 130 San Francisco firefighters are on the scene.
