Hartford HealthCare offers ‘BEAR Repair' for ACL injuries
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — ACL tears are a common and often debilitating knee injury, but advancements over the years have provided patients with more effective treatment options.
Along with the gold standard of reconstruction, the Hartford HealthCare Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute offers the Bridge-Enhanced Anterior Cruciate Ligament (BEAR) Repair.
Surgeon Dr. Michael Redler, with the Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute at St. Vincent's Medical Center, joined Good Morning Connecticut at 9 a.m. to tell us more about the Bear ACL Repair.

New community health center opens its doors in Fair Haven
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — New Haven opened the doors to a new community health center on Wednesday morning, expanding on its previous location. $750,000 Project Purple grant helps Hartford HealthCare with pancreatic cancer screenings The new 36,000 square-foot building was a part of a $40 million expansion for the Fair Haven Community Health Center (FHCHC) campus on Grand Avenue. According to a press release from Mayor Justin Elicker, this expansion hopes to meet the growing demand for accessible high-quality care in the community. The new community space will focus on supporting new learning programs like ESL, job training and digital health literacy, including support for neighborhood nutrition. WTNH News 8 collecting donations for Connecticut Foodshare | Nexstar's Founder's Day 'As you walk through, it not only is high quality space for both physical and behavioral health services, but it also has space for dieticians to meet with folks and do healthy cooking classes,' said Karen Dubois-Walton, president and CEO of the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven. 'There's space for a food pantry, the ability for people to come here and get food resources they need.' RECALL: Fish sold in Connecticut recalled by FDA due to bacteria concerns
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (WTNH) — Salted Smoked Split Herring sold in Connecticut is being recalled by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Fungi concerns spark nationwide recall of Zicam and Orajel products The recalled fish was distributed to retail locations in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. Experts say that the product has potential to be contaminated with a bacteria called Clostridium botulinum that can cause life-threatening illness or death. In 2023, the former U.S. Surgeon General said loneliness is associated with cardiovascular disease, dementia, stroke, depression, anxiety and premature death. World Health Organization (WHO) recently declared loneliness a global public health concern. A Connecticut non-profit 'For All Ages' is on a mission to end loneliness and enrich lives through social connection. The organization has helped more than 38,000 people and counting. For All Ages also convenes The CT Collaborative to End Loneliness, a statewide alliance to foster social connection for Connecticut's residents.
