Brighton and Hove bus stops to become photo galleries
Bus stops in Brighton and Hove are to be transformed into photo galleries. More than 65 images by British photographers Martin Parr and JJ Waller's will be placed on bus stop roofs in the East Sussex city. The Besides the Sea exhibition, which focuses on "iconic" seaside life, will only be viewable from the top deck of buses."Photography has the ability to be shown anywhere, and this is the most original location I can think of," said the internationally acclaimed Mr Parr.
"There is nowhere more British than the seaside," he added.
Mr Waller said the idea had been on the "backburner" for years. "I have clear memories of weekly bus journeys with my mother," he said. "For her, it was a carefree break from suburban life, and for me, it was a window to another world." Organisers said the exhibition, which will include images from Brighton itself, will visible from bus shelter roofs from 22 April.They said the photos will also be displayed for free at the Hove Museum of Creativity.

Glastonbury performer forced to cancel all shows in 2025 over mental health
A rapper who was scheduled to perform at Glastonbury 2025 has pulled out of all remaining shows this year, citing mental health struggles. Nottingham rapper Bru-C, whose real name is Josh Bruce, has slowly risen through the ranks of the British music scene over the last decade. After releasing his first EP in 2015, Bru-C has scored two platinum-selling singles, with a handful of other hits scoring gold and silver classification. He landed a top 20 hit in 2022 with the song No Excuses and was scheduled to perform his collection of recent hits at Glastonbury's Arcadia area. But a recent post on Bru-C's Instagram has revealed the rapper will no longer be performing at the festival, which will run from June 25 to June 29 this year. A statement read: 'This is a really difficult thing for me to post, and one I was really hoping I wouldn't have to. I'm really sorry to announce I'm going to have to cancel all of my upcoming show commitments for 2025. 'Many of you know I've been struggling with mental health issues for some time now and I've tried my best to bury things and keep my life and career moving forward.' He continued: 'What I've been going through has got gradually worse over the last few years and I need to take another step back and try to get back to some kind of stable peace in my life. Bru-C said the last thing he wanted to do was let people down by cancelling shows, but stressed that he needed to take this time to recover and get his life and health back on track. He then apologised to people who had 'spent hard-earned money' to see him at any future shows he's had to cancel, but assured fans he was 'seeking the right help and support'. Concluding his emotional statement, Bru-C revealed that he 'just wants to be better' but admitted that he didn't know when that would be. Showing support, chart-topping DJ and rapper Example said: 'Take your time man. Focus on yourself. Mad respect for this post. Hopefully it helps others. Love ya.' 'We woke up on dream Turkey holiday to screams of terror - I couldn't breathe'
British pensioners tell how they feel 'lucky to be alive' after escaping horrific blaze at their hotel during a holiday in Turkey. They didn't think they would make it back to the UK in one piece Daniel and Christine Steel, who are both nearly 70, had been enjoying a break at a five-star resort in Turkey when a terrifying fire broke out. The pensioners were among six people taken to hospital for smoke inhalation and Daniel said at one point during the nightmare, he phoned his daughter because he didn't think they'd be coming home alive. Daniel from Bradford told his local paper the Telegraph & Argus: "We feel lucky to be alive. We were woken up after hearing screams of 'fire, fire' and 'help, help!' Our room became dense with smoke - we couldn't breathe. "We were on the top floor and had to make a decision about what to do. Put it this way, if it wasn't for the balcony, we wouldn't be here now telling you this story. Below us was a 250ft drop and it was pitch black - all the electricity went off because of the fire." The couple climbed over the balcony rails onto a roof and held onto the rails for 'dear life'. But pensioner Daniel pulled a nerve in his leg and is still in a lot of pain. "Most of the hotel was evacuated but we came across some other guests who found themselves in the same position as us," he continued. "At that point, there were 11 of us screaming for help. We were eventually rescued by firefighters after what felt like a lifetime." After leaving hospital, they were moved to alternative accommodation before later returning to the hotel to collect their belongings. But Daniel said all their holiday things were ruined. And although the couple are glad to be back home, Christine is still struggling to forget about their hellish experience. She added: "We keep reliving what happened - and thinking what might have happened if we hadn't had a balcony. It was certainly a holiday from hell - but we're grateful to be alive."
