Many fans dreamed of watching the worlds top clubs face off around the world have the chance to play each other, but others find it unnecessary to bring this competition to life.
Formatted like the World Cup for national teams, the Club World Cup will provide significant prize money for the participating teams, and more will be secured depending on each team's performance.
Only two La Liga will compete in the tournament, which are the Madrid clubs Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid.
There are concerns in Spain due to the scheduling of the competition, as La Liga will soon unveil the league's schedule for next season, which starts in August. The Club World Cup will start on June 14 and end on July 13.
La Liga President Javier Tebas spoke to COPE and was asked his opinion of the Madrid clubs participating in the competition.
Club World Cup Criticized by Tebas
Tebas doesn't understand the point of having the competition other than being a financial benefit for clubs participating in it. The La Liga president mentions how it could negatively impact the league itself.
Javier Tebas: "The Club World Cup is a complete nonsense. This model harms the ecosystem of LaLiga. And then there is the other issue, when will Real Madrid and Atlético be able to start the league matches."

With Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid being top clubs, it is possible for them to reach the latest rounds of the Club World Cup. The quarterfinals of the competition will be played on July 4 and 5.
Anything past that date seems too late in preparation for the upcoming soccer season, which typically starts in mid-August. Along with that, rest time for players will be significantly reduced.
Tebas is remains firmly opposed to the Club World Cup and does not want to change calendar dates for the new season. He will decide whether Real Madrid and/or Atletico Madrid will rest in the first matchweek.
Javier Tebas: "We have to see and study it. It cannot be that we are constantly changing our calendars for other competitions, FIFA expects all leagues to adapt without consulting us. A Madrid derby in the first matchday is impossible."
Three days ago, La Liga announced that the 2025-26 season league will start on the weekend of 17th August. The performance of the Madrid teams could result in game delays.
What if Real Madrid and/or Atletico reach the quarterfinals of the CWC?
COPE reports that the Association of Spanish Footballers (AFE) has spoken with Real Madrid's Dani Carvajal and Atletico Madrid's Koke on a potential delay in the upcoming La Liga season.

If Real Madrid and/or Atlético Madrid reach the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup, they may start their La Liga season a week after the scheduled start of the season.
It could be as late as August 24 that either or both clubs could play their first league game of the new season if they become the last eight teams of the Club World Cup this summer.
Who will Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid play in the CWC?
Real Madrid is in Group H with Al Hilal, Pachuca, and RB Salzburg. They will make their debut on June 18 when they take on Al Hilal at the Hard Rock Stadium.
Atletico Madrid is in Group B along with Botafogo, Seattle Sounders, and PSG. They will make their debut on Sunday, June 15, against the newly crowned European Champions, PSG.

Poland coach resigns after dispute with star striker Robert Lewandowski
WARSAW, Poland (AP) — The coach of Poland's national soccer team announced Thursday has resigned as head coach, days after a spat with star striker Robert Lewandowski. 'I have come to the conclusion that, given the current situation, the best decision for the good of the national team is my resignation from the position of head coach,' Michał Probierz said in a statement published by the Polish Football Association. Advertisement Probierz stripped Barcelona striker Lewandowski of his position as team captain on the eve of a World Cup qualifier against Finland earlier this week, and named Inter Milan midfielder Piotr Zieliński as the new captain. Lewandowski reacted by saying he would no longer play for the national team as long as Probierz remains head coach. Poland went on to suffer an embarrassing 2-1 defeat to Finland, to put its qualifications hopes into jeopardy. The 36-year-old Lewandowski, who has played a record 158 games for his country and is the leading scorer with 85 goals, is arguably the most outstanding player in the history of Polish soccer. Lewandowski pulled out of last Friday's friendly over Moldova, citing tiredness from a La Liga title-winning season with Barcelona. Advertisement Probierz, who took over in September 2023 after the disappointing tenure of Fernando Santos, managed to secure qualification for the 2024 European Championship but has since struggled. The Polish Football Association's president, Cezary Kulesza, had summoned Probierz on Wednesday to discuss the matter. 'I give coaches a lot of freedom, but with that comes responsibility. I expect results, first and foremost," Kulesza said. 'These were difficult days for the fans of the national team." ___ AP soccer: The Associated Press

Club WC serves as rehearsal for World Cup which is one year away
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup exactly one year away, local officials marked the occasion on Wednesday with a celebration at Liberty State Park in Jersey City, while promising to put on the 'biggest event that the world has ever seen.' The picturesque park will serve as the official site of the FIFA Fan Festival New York New Jersey, with plans for massive screens for fans to watch every match of the 39-day tournament, along with live entertainment and fan activities. Liberty State Park is a short distance from MetLife Stadium, which will host eight matches during the World Cup, including the final on July 19, 2026. NYNJ Host Committee CEO Alex Lasry called it 'a lot' just to reach the one-year mark until the world's biggest sporting event comes to the region, but said there's still more work to be done. Advertisement Alex Lasry, CEO of the New York New Jersey 2026 World Cup Host Committee, speaks during a media availability with host city leaders for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, in New York City on June 9, 2025. AFP via Getty Images 'I think what we saw today is what the plan is, and now we gotta move into the execution phase,' Lasry told The Post. 'Our region isn't unique to mega sporting events and mega festivals. I think that's what is really going to help us as we execute on what's going to be the biggest party and the biggest event that the world has ever seen.' Officials projected between $2.14 billion and $3.45 billion in economic output for the New York/New Jersey area related to the World Cup, with the host committee planning other events related to the tournament. Advertisement New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy said the fan fest in Liberty State Park alone is expected to see at least 45,000 fans. The NYNJ Host Committee is also launching a number of events in the months leading up to next year's World Cup to build excitement, including the installation of a countdown clock at MetLife Stadium. Buildings across New York and New Jersey were lit up in Liberty Green and a mobile fan experience dubbed the 'Skyline to Shoreline Road Tour' will make its way around the region. Advertisement 'This is all part of becoming part of the fabric and culture of New York, New Jersey and getting people excited for the World Cup,' Lasry said. 'I think that's what we're trying to do, is just make sure that everyone has a feel for what we're planning to do. And just get people really excited about what's going to happen next year.' While excitement has been building for the World Cup, concerns have arisen over the current political climate in the United States related to the immigration policies of President Donald Trump, who was in office when the United States won the joint bid with Canada and Mexico to host the 2026 tournament. Murphy didn't express any concerns about the potential impact, saying he expected a 'blowout success and a safe World Cup.' 'Based on all the vibrations I hear, and we hear a lot, we're obviously working very closely with the administration, with FIFA. This is going to be done in a first-class, welcoming way,' Murphy said. Advertisement The outgoing New Jersey governor also touted the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, which begins this weekend in the U.S., will be aired on DAZN, and will play several matches — including the final — at MetLife Stadium. Lasry called the Club World Cup a 'great chance for us to just get a sense' of how to work with their regional partners for the 'big show in 2026.'

Real Madrid Legend Toni Kroos Criticizes Lack Of Discipline At Club
Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos appeared to criticize the lack of discipline at his former club on the ... More latest episode of the podcast he hosts with his brother Felix. Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos appeared to criticize the lack of discipline at his former club on the latest episode of the podcast he hosts with his brother Felix. The German midfield maestro famously hung his boots up at the age of 34 around this time last year. While the last time we saw him on the pitch was when eventual champions Spain beat his Germany team in the Euro 2024 quarterfinals, his club swansong was the sealing of an impressive La Liga, Spanish Super Cup and Champions League treble clinched by beating Borussia Dortmund at Wembley in the latter competition's decider. Without Kroos around, as Carlo Ancelotti also had to shoehorn Kylian Mbappe into an attack that was fine as it was, Madrid finished 2024/2025 trophyless while bitter rivals FC Barcelona won every trophy on offer in Spain. Kroos' compatriot Hansi Flick was the mastermind behind the shift in power in Spain, and his no nonsense brand of discipline, which saw him punish the likes of Jules Kounde and Inaki Pena for lateness, might have had something to do with it. 'With Hansi, some players have been left out of the team because they are late for a meeting,' Kroos first said, before adding 'this has happened several times at Barca'. Kroos then indicated that Flick's hard line would have been unacceptable at the Bernabeu, which SPORT took as there being 'chaos in the locker room' during his era. 'They are different philosophies. At Real Madrid, they would have laughed. Many times you didn't know who was late, the player or the coach. It's a different mentality, not letting someone play because they are five minutes late for a meeting,' Kroos said. They're just different. They're both fine. We could say that Flick's is typical of Germany," Kroos went on, while his brother claimed that some coaches from other countries, and not just theirs, would act like Flick to the lack of punctuality from some players. Now in the dugout after Carlo Ancelotti took the Brazil job, former Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso is tasked with changing the culture at the club, which could prove key to Los Blancos getting back on track and derailing Barca.
