High School Heritage Classic continues rivalry between local schools
The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp will host the sixth annual High School Heritage Classic between two Duval County Public Schools as they compete for the A. Philip Randolph Cup.

The exhibition game between William M. Raines High School and Jean Ribault High School will be on Friday, March 7 at VyStar Ballpark at 6:30 p.m.
The rivalry between the Raines Vikings and the Ribault Trojans dates back to 2020, when the Vikings won their first match during the Classic and again in 2021. The Trojans won the next two contests in 2022 and 2023. Both teams tied in 2024.
Student-athletes will wear customized Jacksonville Red Caps uniforms as tribute to the Negro Leagues from 1938-42. The game will feature references to players and teams throughout the league.
'Every year, the High School Heritage Classic celebrates the extraordinary history of the Negro Leagues in Jacksonville and honors the many Negro Leagues players who laid the foundation for our entire industry,' said Jumbo Shrimp executive vice president/general manager Harold Craw.
General Admission tickets are available for $7 per person.
'I want to thank Duval County Public Schools and the students and faculty of both Raines and Ribault High Schools for continuing this integral tradition to the Jumbo Shrimp's annual Black History Month celebration,' says Craw. 'We hope this special game will help encourage all fans to continue to learn about the extraordinary Negro Leagues players who complete the history of the sport we all love.'

Former NFL player Adam ‘Pacman' Jones arrested in Kentucky
Police in Kentucky arrested former NFL player Adam 'Pacman' Jones. Action News Jax's Ohio station, WHIO-TV, reports Jones was booked into the Kenton County Jail early Saturday morning. Jones, who is from Atlanta, faces charges of public intoxication, disorderly conduct in the second degree and assault on a police officer in the third degree, according to the jail records. Police have not said what led to the charges. Advertisement This is at least the third arrest within the past two years for Jones, who has a history of legal issues. WHIO-TV reported Jones was arrested at the Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Airport (CVG) in 2023 for alcohol intoxication, terroristic threatening, and disorderly conduct. He later pleaded guilty to one count of disorderly conduct in December 2023. Arlington, Texas police arrested Jones back in November after officers said he got into a fight near AT&T Stadium after the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul boxing match, the Athletic reported. Jones played 13 years in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans, Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals and Denver Broncos. Jacksonville Armada forced to find new field after abruptly losing home
The Jacksonville Armada announced late Friday that Saturday's double header will be played on a different home field. The team usually plays its home games at Edward Waters University, but the school abruptly canceled the teams use of its facilities. The Armada will be playing Saturday's double header at Patton Park, 2850 Hodges Blvd, Jacksonville, the team said. Advertisement Edward Waters University released a statement Saturday saying, 'Due to an unforeseen and exigent administrative facilities management challenge, EWU regrettably was unable to host this weekend's contest as originally planned. We regret that this late discovery necessitated the temporary suspension of the use of our facilities for tomorrow's match.' EWU said it's working to resolve its issues so the Armada can play its final four games at the university. (See the school's full statement below.) Jaguars' Travis Hunter is not looking to become trendsetter, just being himself

Advertisement Growing up in South Florida, his father was a football and track athlete for Boynton Beach Community High School, so football was simply a part of who Hunter was as a young boy. 'Since I first picked up a football, when I was about four years old, always wanted to be on the biggest stage,' Hunter said. Hunter has played with that same level of energy his entire life. It's fairly common to play both sides of the ball in high school. The twelve-minute quarters, running clock, and simplicity of the game at that level make it far more of a possibility than in college or the NFL. I have high energy, as you can tell. I just love being on the football field and do my job,' Hunter told Action News Jax. Whether it's his five-star rating, state championship, Heisman trophy, or draft pedigree, Hunter's success and the way he plays the game have never been seen before in the modern era. It's that propensity to break records and to change the way the sport is played that makes Hunter so intriguing as a player. Every play, Hunter is doing something never before seen. I hope they go out and be themself and if it comes to them, they go and do it, but I'm not trying to be a trendsetter, my journey is what I do,' Hunter said.
