Earn money caring for children of service members at home; details
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Residents of the Shreveport-Bossier area are invited to apply for a program that will allow them to care for the children of service members stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base.
The Family Child Care Provider Program offers opportunities for individuals residing within 30 miles of Barksdale AFB to establish in-home child care facilities, providing service members with access to qualified child care providers.
Program enrollees will receive extensive support, financial incentives, and professional development, addressing a critical need for military families: quality, affordable childcare.
'Childcare availability directly affects mission readiness and quality of life of our force,' said Col. Michael Maginness, 2d Bomb Wing commander, 'Reliable, competent, and qualified childcare reduces stress on the Airmen and their family and allows our children to continue to thrive while their parents perform our nation's most critical missions. This is an incredible opportunity for qualified caregivers in the community to earn a paycheck while supporting our nation's number one mission here at Barksdale AFB.'

Qualified applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a high school diploma or GED, proof of current immunizations, and a completed background check for all members of the household. Homes must pass fire, safety, and health inspections. Providers are also required to carry limited liability insurance, which is reimbursable through the program.
Once providers are licensed, they may care for up to six children and earn more than $ 60,000 annually.
Program participants will also have access to business resources, the USDA food program, incentive pay, and weekly subsidies for their children. Military and non-military members are eligible for the program, and base housing is not required.

The event aimed to raise awareness and support for this important issue. Kory, who was the couple's trainer, played a role in the race's organization. As part of a nationwide tour, the race traveled to several cities across the United States, with the Shreveport event taking place at Southern Hills Park. Salute the Badge: A candid conversation with SPD Chief Wayne Smith One of the most significant announcements was the launch of a new economic development website, a one-stop shop designed to facilitate the city's collaboration with entrepreneurs and small business owners. 'When we came into office, we wanted to simplify the process for people to do business in and with the city,' said Mayor Arceneaux. 'You can now find checklists, permit information, and applications online, without needing to visit Government Plaza.' The website is accessible from the city's homepage and includes resources tailored to new and existing business owners. 'Small businesses create most of the jobs in this country,' the mayor emphasized, 'so we want to encourage an entrepreneurial spirit right here in Shreveport.'
