Amr Diab to Release New Album This Summer

"El Hadaba' Amr Diab will be dropping a new album later this year.
Diab announced at his latest gig in Kuwait that his forthcoming album will arrive in Eid al-Adha.
The acclaimed singer is currently putting the final touches on the record.
In the new album, he collaborates with a large number of poets and composers, including Bahaa El Din Mohamed, Ayman Bahgat Kamar, Tamer Hussein, and Aziz Al-Shafi'i.
In December 2023, Diab released his last album "Makanak".
The record contains 12 songs bearing surprises that represent major progress in Egyptian and Arab music.
In the album, he collaborated with a large number of poets and composers including Bahaa El Din Mohamed, Ayman Bahgat Kamar, Tamer Hussein, mahraganat songwriter Mustafa Hadouta, Aziz Al-Shafi'i, Mohamed Yahya, and Islam Zaki.
"Makanak" represents the return of Diab to album-making after releasing his last album, 'Ya Ana Ya La' back in 2021.
Born on October 11, 1961, Diab is a multi-award-winning pop singer-songwriter. He created his own style which is often termed 'Mediterranean Music', a blend of Western and Egyptian rhythms, by 1992, he became the first Arabic artist to start making high-tech music videos.
He is a Guinness World Record holder, the best-selling Middle Eastern artist, a seven-time winner of World Music Awards, and a five-time winner of Platinum Records.
Diab's fame in the entertainment industry has led him to experiment with other forms of media, such as film-making.
The acclaimed singer co-starred in four films, 'Al Sagenatan', 'El Afareet', 'Ice Cream in Gleam', and 'Dehk Wa Le'b Wa Gad Wa Hob'.
In 1988, he made his acting debut in the film 'Al Sagenatan' starring prominent actresses Elham Shahin and Samah Anwar.
Despite the films' success, Diab did not experience the same success in acting as he had with his music. He has focused on his singing career since 1993.
In 2020, the iconic singer signed on to make an acting comeback in an original Arabic series for Netflix. The project has yet to come to light.

"The Social Network 2" in Works
Yara Sameh After teasing a potential sequel to his Oscar-winning drama "The Social Network" for years, Aaron Sorkin seems to have found an angle to tackle for his follow-up film. Sources tell Deadline that Sorkin has been tapped to direct "The Social Network Part II" for Sony Pictures. Insiders say that while it's being called part two, it's not a straight sequel but rather a follow-up to the original movie that explored the origins of what would become the world's biggest social media platform. Jesse Eisenberg starred as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in 'The Social Network,' but casting has yet to be announced for the sequel. Part 2 is in development with Todd Black, Peter Rice, Sorkin, and Stuart Besser producing. Sorkin's original screenplay for the new movie explores the story behind the Wall Street Journal's "The Facebook Files" by Jeff Horowitz, an explosive series of articles published in October 2021 that exposed the inner workings of — and multiple harms caused by — the world's largest social network. Released in 2010 by Sony Pictures and based on Ben Mezrich's "The Accidental Millionaires", "The Social Network" was a huge hit with audiences and critics and earned $226 million at the global box office. The pic had also been nominated for eight Oscars including Best Picture, the film won three, including Sorkin for Best Adapted Screenplay. Since its release, Sorkin has noted on several occasions his interest in doing a follow-up, but he couldn't find the right angle. Following the events of January 6, 2021, when the U.S. Capitol was attacked, Sorkin found his new inspiration. The filmmaker in an interview last year said that he believed Facebook played a part. Sources stress that the new film isn't a 'January 6' movie" and will focus on "not just on the 2020 election but also Facebook's effect on teens, preteens, violence, and countries outside the U.S." Although the original was directed by David Fincher, Sorkin will take on directing duties for this pic having sharpened his skills since the original Social Network came out.
