Footage appears to show the moment a Midlothian youth riding a bike rummages through a car parked outside a fast food restaurant before allegedly making off with a handbag.
The incident was captured on CCTV near Straiton Retail Park on Sunday, May 11, and shows a youth cycling up to the vehicle before getting off and opening the passenger side door.
The incident took place in broad daylight as the male youth then returns and opens the boot of the car before appearing to take a bag.
Another angle then shows the individual sitting on his bike with the bag in hand at the drive-thru of one of the restaurants.
The footage appears to show him stash the bag under his jacket. The owner of the car, who shared the clip with Fife Jammer Locations, claimed their credit cards and ID were among items stolen.
They said: "I went through to Edinburgh and this person took my bag which had my credit cards and ID among other things. Be careful and look your cars."
Police Scotland was approached for comment.
