"He brings schemes that we had not imagined": Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria applauds PM Modi
Chandigarh [India], June 12 (ANI): Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, applauding Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stated that the schemes he had brought in 11 years of governance had laid the foundation for progress.
'Every person experiences what PM Modi has done for the poor in 11 years. He brings such schemes that we had not imagined. When Swachh Bharat Abhiyan started, people used to make fun of it, saying it wouldn't happen. But look at today, it has progressed,' Kataria told ANI.
The Punjab Governor also stated how the PM's schemes had brought people in the country above the poverty line, further stating that it was a big achievement for the country.
'We had never thought that every household would get water, but now it is happening. 50 crore people have got food grains, every household has got electricity, and Mudra Yojana- every kind of business has benefited from it. In the last few years, about 24-35 crore people have come out of the poverty line. This is a big achievement for the country,' he further added.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari emphasised that whatever happened in the 11 years under the PM's governance was a 'sanjeevani.'
Speaking to the media, Tiwari emphasised that they are not going to stop now.
'Whatever has happened in these eleven years is a 'Sanjeevani', but we are not going to stop now. We are planning for at least Rs 8000 crores more in the next five years, and we are fully confident that there will be no shortage of it as long as Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister,' he said.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta credited the Central Government for significant development and relief initiatives in Delhi over the past 11 years on Tuesday, citing achievements in healthcare, infrastructure, and welfare schemes.
Speaking to media reporters, Delhi CM said, 'The situation in Delhi was different during the 11 years of the Central Government's tenure.'
Citing developments in healthcare, she pointed to the performance of AIIMS. 'Just look at the hospitals today. AIIMS handles 5 lakh OPD cases annually, which helps reduce the burden on Delhi's hospitals,' she added.
Delhi CM also highlighted the infrastructure growth, 'The central government approved a road project worth RS 1.25 lakh crore.'
She further said, 'The credit for the metro goes to the central government. The Centre has launched one phase after another of the metro.'
She listed various schemes implemented by the central government. 'Under the Mudra Yojana, loans were distributed to the people of Delhi. Under the Garib Kalyan Yojana, free ration was provided.'
'1,731 colonies were regularised. Loans worth Rs 300 crore were given to 2 lakh street vendors. Rs 6,000 was provided as Kisan Samman Nidhi to 12,000 farmers,' CM Gupta added. (ANI)

Jharkhand HC fines former CM Madhu Koda for fourth time in Rural Electrification scam case
Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court has once again imposed a fine on former Chief Minister Madhu Koda, this time amounting to Rs 8,000, for repeatedly seeking adjournments in a case related to the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Scheme scam. This marks the fourth time Koda has been penalised for delaying proceedings. Koda had approached the High Court challenging the framing of charges against him in a lower court. However, during the hearing on Friday, his lawyer sought more time -- prompting the court's strong displeasure. Noting the pattern of repeated delays, the court imposed the fine and scheduled the next hearing for eight weeks later. Previously, Koda had been fined Rs 1,000 on December 13, 2024; Rs 2,000 on January 17, 2025; and Rs 4,000 on March 1, 2025; each time for requesting adjournments. With the latest penalty, the total fine now stands at Rs 15,000. The court has directed that all amounts be deposited with the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority (JHALSA). The case against Koda stems from allegations of large-scale corruption during his tenure as Chief Minister of Jharkhand. He is accused of accepting a bribe of Rs 11.40 crore from a director of Hyderabad-based power infrastructure firm that had been blacklisted. In return, Koda allegedly awarded the company a tender for electrification works in six Jharkhand districts, including Latehar, Garhwa, and Palamu. The CBI, which is probing the case, has charged Koda with abuse of power and criminal misconduct. CBI counsel Prashant Pallav represented the agency during Friday's hearing. The electrification project was part of the Centre's Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY), under which Jharkhand had received Rs 467.76 crore in 2006 to electrify 27,359 villages. The project aimed to directly benefit over 29.26 lakh rural families. Madhu Koda was previously arrested in the case and spent two and a half years in judicial custody before being granted bail on July 30, 2013. The present proceedings concern the framing of charges based on the CBI's charge sheet, which Koda is contesting in the High Court.

India and China agree to resume direct flights: Vikram Misri meets Sun Weidong; to rebuild ties with 'people-centric engagements'
Sun Weidong ( and Vikram Misri (ANI) F oreign secretary Vikram Misri met Chinese vice foreign minister Sun Weidong in New Delhi on Friday in a renewed effort to improve bilateral relations between the two countries. Weidong is visiting India for two days. During the meeting, the neighbours decided to rebuild ties by prioritising 'people-centric engagements', including resuming direct flights. The discussions reviewed progress since the last meeting between the countries, which was held in Beijing in January. Misri expressed appreciation for China's cooperation in facilitating the resumption of the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra this year, a significant development welcomed by Indian pilgrims. Last year, both countries reached a 6-point consensus on the same. Misri also referenced the discussions held in April 2025 under the Expert Level Mechanism on trans-border rivers, where both sides agreed on sharing hydrological data and other forms of cooperation, and hoped for progress. Earlier in April, President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had met with their Chinese counterparts, Xi Jinping and Li Qiang, respectively, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties. Karnataka CM writes to union agri minister for timely intervention to help mango farmers
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday requested Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Shivaraj Singh Chouhan for an urgent Price Deficiency Payment and Market Intervention Scheme for mango farmers in Karnataka. He has written to the union minister drawing his attention to the "severe distress" being faced by mango farmers across Karnataka due to a sharp and unsustainable decline in market prices during the current harvest season. Farmers in Srinivasapura, a major mango growing belt in Kolar district, bordering Andhra Pradesh, held protests and observed a taluk-level bandh on Wednesday, demanding a support price for mangoes and withdrawal of a ban imposed by the neighbouring state.
