Air France brings back seasonal direct flights between Cape Town and Paris this summer season
Johannesburg: Air France is delighted to announce the return of its seasonal direct flights between Cape Town and Paris for the 2025/2026 summer season, making it even easier for travellers to explore the best of both worlds.
From 15 December 2025 to 12 January 2026, Air France will operate daily nonstop flights between the Cape Town and Paris, just in time for South Africa's summer season and Europe's peak holiday period. The daily service will be operated by the state-of-the-art Airbus A350, offering South African travellers a comfortable and stylish journey with the hallmark French flair Air France is known for. From gourmet meals to Champagne in all classes, passengers can expect an elevated travel experience from take-off to landing.
This expanded service not only makes it more convenient for European travellers to reach Cape Town's beaches, winelands and world-class culture, but also gives South Africans more options to connect seamlessly to Europe, the Americas, and beyond via Paris.
Air France's daily seasonal service will see flight AF0871 departing Cape Town each morning at 08:50 and landing in Paris at 19:20. The return flight, AF0890, will depart Paris at 18:30 each evening, arriving in Cape Town at 06:45 the following day.

Together with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Air France-KLM will offer up to 18 weekly flights to Cape Town and a total of 32 flights per week to South Africa, providing over 11,000 seats in each direction every week. This expansion underlines the group's strong commitment to South Africa and its important role in connecting global travellers to this exceptional destination, providing unmatched travel options for business and leisure travellers alike.

Leparan Gideon ole Morintat, CEO and Managing Director of the National Oil Corporation of Kenya (NOC Kenya), will speak at this year's edition of the African Energy Week (AEW): Invest in African Energies conference – taking place September 29 to October 3 in Cape Town. During the event, Morintat will share insight into the company's growth strategy in the country, highlighting frontier oil and gas prospects and opportunities for global investors. Morintat will also participate in the event's first-ever National Oil Company (NOC) and International Oil Company (IOC) Forum, which brings together key public and private sector stakeholders into direct conversation to drive investment and deals in Africa. Morintat's participation comes ahead of the country's inaugural oil and gas licensing round, which is set to launch in September 2025. Offering ten exploration blocks to investors, the licensing round aligns with national objectives of unlocking the frontier potential of the country's oil and gas sector. The ten blocks were selected using geoscientific data to ensure a transparent allocation process. The government – through the NOC - provides comprehensive seismic surveys and geological reports, thereby supporting exploration and future discoveries. As the head of the country's NOC with a participating interest in all acreage, Morintat will detail opportunities available in the round at AEW: Invest in African Energies 2025. Visit for more information about this exciting event. The upcoming oil and gas licensing round aims to drive investment in the country's Lamu and Anza basins. Known for their hydrocarbon potential, the basins offer significant opportunities for frontier explorers. NOC Kenya manages all of the data for the basins through the National Data center, including geoscientific data, seismic surveys and well-logs. The blocks are available via Production Sharing Contracts and offer tax incentives to entice participation. Currently, NOC Kenya is developing a Seismic Processing Center and Geochemical-Petrophysical Analyais Laboratory, aimed at supporting future oil and gas campaigns. To further entice investment, Kenya introduced a Petroleum Act in 2019, offering a comprehensive framework for the exploration, development and management of the country's petroleum resources. Key provisions in the act include a transparent revenue-sharing model; stringent environmental protection measures; and streamlined licensing processes. The act served to offer a much-needed boost to the country's oil and gas sector, which has long-faced project delays due to regulatory challenges. By providing a transparent framework, Kenya seeks to boost investment while facilitating greater collaboration between the NOC and global operators. At AEW: Invest in African Energies 2025, Morintat is expected to outline the impact the Petroleum Act has had on the sector. Through his participation in panels and the NOC-IOC Forum, he is also anticipated to share insight into the country's investment prospects. 'A Mission, Not a Job!' - African Development Bank President reflects on a decade of leadership
Speaking Monday at a breakfast meeting with journalists, the President of the African Development Bank Group ( Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, described his ten-year presidency as a consuming yet profoundly fulfilling mission. The press briefing is the first official event of the Bank's 2025 Annual Meetings, taking place in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire from 26 to 30 May 2025 – during which a new president of the Bank will be elected. 'This is not a job. If anyone is looking for a job, please don't take it. This is not a job. This is a mission,' he said. 'As my wife Grace and staff would tell you, for ten years I have had no life. Completely zero. I worked every single day. Every single step.' Adesina expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the institution. 'Serving as President of the African Development Bank Group has been the greatest honor of my life,' he said. 'It has been a decade of relentless purpose, of enduring passion, and of tireless service.' The event was attended by journalists covering the Annual Meetings, which are expected to draw a record 6,000 delegates from 91 countries, including policymakers, private sector leaders, academics, civil society, development partners, and media. '[This] is one of my favorite moments of every Annual Meeting. Echoing his keynote remarks from the All-Africa Media Leaders' Summit in May 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya, Adesina called for the emergence of African media platforms that will credibly amplify positive continental narratives on a global scale. 'The African Development Bank you have today is not the African Development Bank you used to have. This is a global institution now.' he said.
