Neil Lennon caught up in hilarious Rangers wind-up at Hibs
The former Hibs and Gers striker appeared on Open Goal this week in a wide-ranging interview.
In the episode, he told of how now-Falkirk defender Sean Mackie got himself in a spot of bother with Lenny for singing Roy Orbison's Penny Arcade during his initiation with the first team.
As Cummings divulged, it's fair to say the young Hibs star's song choice didn't go down too well with the former Celtic captain.
"Lenny had all the young boys up to sing, like an initiation," Cummings explained to Si Ferry and Paul Slane. "It must have been Christmas.
"So I went up to Sean Mackie and said, 'I'll give you a hundred quid if you sing Penny Arcade in front of Lenny'.
"Mackie was just a young boy, but he had a bit about him, he was a bit like me in that way. He said, 'I'll dae it. A hundred quid?'
Read more:
"I remember being in the changing room and Lenny's like, 'Right Mackie, let's go'. And Mackie came in.
"I remember him looking at me, and I'm thinking, 'There's no way he's going to do it' because Lenny was fired up and getting involved with all the tunes.
"And then Mackie goes, 'Do-doom, do-doom... A light shone in the night...'
"I'm sitting there thinking, 'He's f*****g doing it!'
"Lenny's fuming, he shouts, 'What the f*** is that s***? Get out of my f*****g changing room. You'll never play for me again!'
"I saw him not long ago and I asked if I ever gave him that £100. 'Did you f***'. I never gave him it."

Reported Celtic transfer target Evan Ferguson has been hailed as a 'top player' who is in dire need of regular football after stagnating at Brighton and Hove Albion. Ferguson, 20, broke on to the Brighton scene under Graham Potter as a teenager, but has fallen out of the first-team picture under current head coach Fabian Hurzeler and spent the second half of last season on loan West Ham. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad However, the Republic of Ireland internationalist's spell in London did not go according to plan and was used sparingly, ironically under Potter, who gave him is big breakthrough at Brighton. Reported Celtic transfer target Evan Ferguson has struggled for regular first-team football recently. | Getty Images Celtic were loosely linked with Ferguson in January and reports have resurfaced that the striker is back on Parkhead manager Brendan Rodgers' radar, with the Scottish Premiership champions keen to bolster their forward line. Ferguson, who is a international teammate of current Celtic No 9 Adam Idah, is under contract until the summer of 2029 and former Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given believes the hitman is ready to 'burst on to the scene', explaining that his level of finishing has been hailed by those around him. 'Better not tell Adam that!' Given, who was promoting next month's Celtic v Newcastle friendly, said when the Ferguson speculation to Celtic was put to him,' 'I think Evan just needs to find a home, if I'm being honest. Be it here or somewhere else. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Ferguson needs confidence 'I think he needs someone to say 'You're my player.' He went to West Ham for Graham Potter and you thought that was the perfect fit because Graham had him at Brighton. But then he didn't play so much at West Ham either. 'I just think he needs to go, be it a loan for a season or some club buys him, and you build the team around him. I think he's a top player, I really do. I did some Malaysian TV recently with Bobby Zamora and he goes into Brighton once a week and coaches the strikers. Bobby said Evan was the best finisher at the club. 'Maybe because he burst onto the scene that everyone's been expecting so much so soon. But again with young players you need to have a bit of time. I just feel he's ready now to burst onto the scene for a full season with somebody. For us with Ireland it would be great too. 'I don't know the finances would be to buy him, but if you said for a loan for the season it would be perfect. But I'm not the financial power at Celtic or Newcastle, so I don't know!' Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Regardless of what happens with Ferguson, Given has been impressed by another Irishman at Celtic in Idah, who has just completed his first full season at Parkhead following a £9m transfer from Norwich City. 'I think he scored 20 goals. didn't he?' continued Given. 'Again, first season as a regular starter, I think it's been a good campaign for him. But he'll want to improve on that and get more goals next season. I don't think 20's a bad return, if I'm being brutally honest. 'He'll also want to add to his international goals too. Scales has come out of the team in recent weeks, I think. Adam and Scalesy are well regarded in the international set up. 'Adam's competing with Evan Ferguson and Troy Parrott and players like that. Evan Ferguson not that long ago was being talked about as a £100 million player and Adam started on Friday night against Senegal. So, that's where he's regarded in the Irish set up, by the manager especially. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Adam Idah has completed his first full season as a Celtic player. | Getty Images 'He was the first choice on Friday night while Ferguson started against Luxembourg. Adam's very much competing for that number nine jersey. He's a good player while with Brendan - who is a brilliant manager and coach- he's in the right environment. 'Celtic's a big club and I think Brendan will keep improving him as a player. I think he's in the perfect position.' Given also hopes that another Irish striker in Johnny Kenny can continue his first-team exposure. The 22-year-old made his debut last season after starring for Shamrock Rovers on loan in the Conference League and netted his first goal for Celtic last month against Aberdeen. 'He was on loan at Shamrock and did well,' added Given. 'I know obviously with Dermot there's a connection with Celtic and Shamrock. He's come back here and played a couple of games off the bench. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'You'd need to ask Brendan for his plans for Johnny for the season. Does he see him part of the plans or him going back out on loan? Kenny's future is key 'Does Brendan think he's ready? I don't see enough of him to know for sure. But again from an Ireland perspective, we'd really like to see more of him for Celtic. 'When you get a flavour of first team football you just want more and more. Even at Shamrock Rovers, the League of Ireland's flying at the minute. Damien Duff has added a huge problem to the league as well. 'The stadiums are sold out now. When you go to play in front of crowds it gives you such a lift. I remember for myself back in the day, I went to Swindon as a kid and I loved playing in front of decent crowds. It doesn't matter how big the crowd is, that edge is there.

Elite Hibs prospect's title triumph perfect end to year of 'obstacles and adversity'
Youngest ever first-teamer bounced from loan spell to youth team in challenging campaign Sign up to our Hibs football newsletter Sign up Thank you for signing up! One of Hibernian's most exciting prospects has been backed to recover from a season of setbacks – after producing the ideal response to falling out of the first-team reckoning. And Rory Whittaker's attitude to being dropped back into age-grade football has been hailed as an example to all young talents. The youngest debutant in club history, Whittaker was just 16 years and 44 days old when then-manager Nick Montgomery threw him into a home win over St Johnstone in September of 2023. He featured regularly as a substitute during Montgomery's eight months at the helm – and was rewarded with a three-year contract as Hibs looked to lock down a player seen as a future regular. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad With Hibs overloaded in the right back position, however, David Gray sent Whittaker out on loan to Spartans – where the youngster had started his career as a schoolboy - at the beginning of last season in the hope of furthering his development. Although regularly used as a substitute, the teenager made just two starts for the SPFL League Two side. When he returned to Hibs in January, the club decided against another loan move – and dropped Whittaker back into the under-18s squad, where he played his part in helping Darren McGregor's team pull off a stunning Club Academy Scotland Elite League title triumph . His performances for the youth team confirmed the coaching staff's high opinion of a character backed to benefit from going through such adversity. Scottish Cup hero McGregor impressed with defender Former first-team stalwart McGregor, who said Whittaker could easily have consider himself 'above' the daily grind of under-18 football, was massively impressed, the Scottish Cup winner saying: 'I mean, that's learning for you, that's football, sometimes it happens that you have to take a step back. And I think Rory was excellent in the run-in and the big important games, he was really one of the guys that sort of took the bull by the horns. He's got that, he's a confident lad, nothing phases him. 'But he had that wee bit of adversity, obviously getting into the first team, dropping back out, going to Spartans. Then it not quite working out at Spartans, coming back to us - and then just knuckling down and working hard. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'He could have quite easily said: 'I've been in the first team, I've been at Spartans, I'm above the 18s …' But he never did. He came back, worked hard and showed what a good player he is. 'All these little obstacles and adversity, for me, stand them in good stead when they get older because it's not always sunshine and rainbows. There's lots of peaks and there's lots of troughs as well. 'And I always say that to the lads, try to stay as close to centre as you can because you will get disappointments in football. People will have opinions about you. But if you believe in yourself and you keep working hard and show a can-do attitude, you've got half a chance. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'I say to the older boys in our group, boys like Rory Whittaker, Dead Cleland and Joe McGrath, really all the 2007 group, that the younger lads look up to them. The '08s and '09s look up to you, so set the standard – and that inspires them to reach that standard, maybe even better.'

Evan Ferguson to Celtic transfer links addressed by Shay Given as Hoops-daft pundit reveals his major concern
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) SHAY GIVEN would be thrilled to see Evan Ferguson in a Celtic jersey for next season — but he's not so sure how Adam Idah would feel about it. Republic of Ireland legend Given - 134 caps - believes the out of favour Brighton ace needs to move on to rejuvenate a stalling career. The frontman burst onto the Premier League scene when he was just 17 and got off to a flyer. But lately it's been tough going for the Irish international, a loan move to West Ham for the second half of last season failing to boost his confidence with just one start and no goals. Former Hoops youth and lifelong fan Given reckons Brendan Rodgers would be the 'perfect' manager to kick-start Ferguson's career amid persistent talk there's interest. The well regarded TV pundit - back in Glasgow to promote the glamour pre-season between the Hoops and former club Newcastle United at Parkhead on July 19 - said of the rumours: 'Better not tell Adam that! 'I think Evan just needs to find a home, if I'm being honest. Be it here or somewhere else. 'I think he needs someone to say 'You're my player.' 'He went to West Ham for Graham Potter and you thought that was the perfect fit because Graham had him at Brighton. 'But then he didn't play so much at West Ham either. 'Antonio and someone else was injured, yet they played Bowen and Kudus - not Ferguson. The diggers move in as Celtic Park pitch is dug up 'What happens next for Evan? 'But I'm not the financial power at Celtic or Newcastle, so I don't know!' 4 Given keeps a close watch on the Hoops' Irish contingent — Idah, Liam Scales and Johnny Kenny. And he said: 'I do take an extra interest in the Irish boys because I do a bit of work for Irish TV. 'Of course, there's Adam Idah, Liam Scales, Johnny Kenny. 'We obviously oversee them, watch the Celtic games and try to keep an eye on them. 'I think Adam scored 20 goals. didn't he?
