Windham motorcyclist seriously injured in Gray crash
Apr. 28—A Windham man was seriously injured in a collision in Gray early Monday morning.
William Segler, 50, was headed south on his motorcycle on West Gray Road around 6:30 a.m. when a 2022 Ford Explorer turned left in front of him from Ramsdell Road, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office. He hit the driver's side of the vehicle and was brought to the hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Ford Explorer was identified as 59-year-old Cheryl Royal of Gray, according to the sheriff's office. Police say she "failed to yield to the right-of-way" before turning. The sheriff's office said the crash is still under investigation and no charges have been filed.
The road was closed for nearly two hours while several agencies investigated the crash.

5 hurt as ambulance, police SUV crash blocks apart in Manchester
Five people were injured in nearly back-to-back crashes near Elliot Hospital involving an ambulance, a police SUV and two other cars Wednesday. An AMR ambulance and a Volvo wagon collided around 11:40 a.m. near the entrance to the hospital and the intersection of Tarrytown Road and Nelson Street, Manchester fire officials said. The ambulance was responding to a call when the collision caused the driver to lose control and the rig rolled over. Manchester Police said the ambulance was entering the intersection with its lights and siren activated when the accident happened. The two medics in the front seat of the ambulance were trapped inside, but fire crews helped them remove the front windshield so they could get out. They were taken to the hospital for evaluation. Police said the driver of the Volvo reported no injuries. While crews were working at that crash scene, a Ford Explorer driven by a Manchester Police officer collided with a Jeep Compass near the intersection of Valley and Jewett streets, just a few blocks over and near the other side of the Elliot. The Jeep rolled over and crews had to extricate the driver and a passenger who were trapped inside, fire officials said. Doors were removed from the driver's side of the Jeep. Police said the officer and the two occupants of the Jeep were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The identities of the people involved were not released. Anyone who witnessed either accident is asked to call Manchester Police at 603-668-8711.

Testimony in Meagan Jackson murder trial reveals victim killed by .22 caliber bullet
HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Three law enforcement officers testified Wednesday morning in Horry County Circuit Court in the trial of a woman accused of killing her four children's father in 2020. Meagan Jackson was having an affair with Horry County deputy Coroner Christopher Dontell when she allegedly killed Gregory Rice, whose body was found in the Little Pee Dee River on Nov. 8, 2020. Dontell is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty in early December to accessory and conspiracy charges and agreeing to testify against Jackson. Jackson, who could be seen crying during witness testimony on Tuesday, is charged with murder and conspiracy. Rice was last seen on Oct. 2, 2020, and it was Jackson who reported him missing three days later. Mark Bonner, who is now retired from the Horry County Police Department, was supervising investigations in the criminal investigations division at the time of Rice's death. He testified that Rice was killed by a .22 caliber bullet and that he became aware that the relationship between Jackson and Rice had become estranged. Reggie Hotaling, a senior investigator with the Marion County Sheriff's Office at the time, said he responded to the Pitts Landing area near the Horry County line about a body in November 2020 and recovered evidence from the body that included a lighter, cigarettes, cinder blocks, tarp straps, a ball cap, sheets, a tarp and zip ties. After an autopsy was completed, Hotaling testified he was given black sneakers, jeans, a sweatshirt and clothing, photos and bullets, all evidence that was later turned over to Horry County authorities after it was determined that they had jurisdiction in the case. Horry County police Sgt. Adam Skellett, who worked in the department's investigations unit, testified about surveillance video obtained from the River's Edge community. Jackson's car is shown leaving River's Edge at about 6:16 p.m. on Oct. 2, followed by Dontell's gray Ford Explorer at 6:20 p.m. He also testified about an interview with Erica Dontell, Chris Dontell's wife, who said she was receiving anonymous messages believed to be from Gregory Rice, saying that Chris Dontell had been sleeping with Jackson. Testimony in the case began on Tuesday as jurors heard from Savannah Rice — Jackson's and Gregory Rice's daughter, who said her parents fought constantly and were not compatible. Savannah Rice also testified about her relationship with her parents, saying that her dad was a flawed man but someone who cared about his kids and the people around him. She also testified that her parents broke up on two different occasions and that she did not hear them say 'I love you' to each other. She also testified that she met Dontell because of her mother's work and spent a lot of time with the family. Hollidaysburg man charged after leading officers on ‘reckless' pursuit
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Hollidaysburg man is facing charges after he allegedly led multiple police departments on a high speed chase and almost hit an officer head on while he was driving in the wrong lane. James Potts, 44, is facing over 40 charges after he allegedly led officers on a high-speed chase, according to a criminal complaint. On June 2, a Pennsylvania trooper received a call to respond to a pursuit in Vintondale Borough in Cambria County. Potts, who was driving a Ford Explorer with a utility trailer attached, had fled from police on Ben Franklin Highway. Philadelphia duo arrested in Altoona with drugs after foot chase According to the complaint, while running from police, Potts's vehicle reached speeds up to 90 mph and drove into the other lanes multiple times. During the pursuit, a cruiser from the Nanty Glo Borough Police Department was damaged, and the chief of the Blacklick Township Police Department was almost struck and an officer with the Cambria Township Police Department sustained a hand injury that needed sutures. Potts eventually lost control of the vehicle and allegedly tried to flee from police into a nearby wooded area. However, he was arrested after a failed deployment of a stun gun or taser. 'This multi-jurisdictional high speed pursuit placed the lives of responding officers and the general public in danger, and occurred at high unsafe speeds in combination with reckless and careless driving,' Troopers noted in the complaint. Potts is facing felony charges of aggravated assault, fleeing officers, criminal mischief and evading arrest. He's also facing misdemeanor charges of simple assault, resisting arrest and recklessly endangering another person, along with multiple summary driving offenses.
