Driving Innovation and Tackling Veteran Debt Relief Across Indiana
Today at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Verizon, Team Penske and the Indianapolis Colts announced a $6 million commitment to tackle veteran debt in Indiana over the next two years.
This initiative includes a $4 million collaboration with Team Penske during the Month of May. One million dollars in veteran debt relief has been committed for 2025, with an additional $1 million contingent on Will Power, driver of the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet, finishing in the top 10 at the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500. An additional $2 million in debt relief will be provided in collaboration with the Indianapolis Colts over the next two seasons.
"This partnership between Verizon, Team Penske and the Indianapolis Colts represents a unique opportunity to address veteran debt relief while showcasing innovation and excellence,' said Andy Brady, president of Verizon's Great Lakes Market. 'Together, we aim to make a lasting impact on the lives of the veterans across Indiana, both on the racetrack and in the community.'
Significant Technology Investment Powers the Racing Experience
As part of this commitment, Verizon has made a significant technological infrastructure at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This investment includes: Comprehensive upgrade to the Distributed Antenna System (DAS).
Modernization of all wireless capabilities with new 4G equipment and addition of 5G coverage across 71 zones throughout the facility.
Enhanced high-capacity antennas to support the massive data demands during race events.
Improved connectivity at main gate areas to streamline ticketing and enhance the fan entry experience.
These technological advancements ensure that fans, teams and media can stay connected throughout the race events while enabling innovative new racing applications and improved spectator experiences.
"Verizon has always been a leader in innovation and a company that makes a difference in people's lives,' said Roger Penske, founder and chairman of Team Penske. 'Verizon's commitment to helping veterans through this debt relief initiative is a testament to their values and dedication to creating positive change. At Team Penske, we are proud to stand with Verizon in supporting those who have served our country and creating meaningful change for our veterans.'
The 109th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge is scheduled for Sunday, May 25 at IMS. Fans can tune into the FOX network broadcast beginning at 10 a.m. ET as 2018 winner Power attempts to win his second Indy 500 and secure another $1 million in debt relief for Central Indiana veterans.
'Verizon's dedication to innovation and reliability is second to none, and the Indianapolis Colts are honored to partner with a brand that truly takes care of its community,' said Carlie Irsay-Gordon, vice chair/owner of the Indianapolis Colts. 'This collaboration represents the best of what teamwork and shared values can achieve, supporting those who have served our nation while making a lasting impact across Indiana.'
Veteran Debt Relief
As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting veterans, Verizon continues its initiative to relieve debt across the Great Lakes region through its partnership with ForgiveCo. Building on previous successes, Verizon is now focusing on Indianapolis, aiming to alleviate up to $6 million in veteran debt. This effort is part of a broader $22 million debt relief program across the Great Lakes over the next two years. In 2024, Verizon successfully relieved more than $4 million in debt for over 4,800 veterans.
"At Verizon, we believe in honoring our veterans not just with words, but with action,' Brady said. 'Relieving up to $6 million in veteran debt in Indianapolis is a testament to our dedication to providing meaningful support to those who have given so much for our country.'
Those receiving this debt relief will be contacted by ForgiveCo., a company that identifies and handles the clearing of debt for veterans in need. There is no enrollment process for eligibility.
Verizon currently employs more than 8,000 veterans nationwide and is nationally recognized as a Military Friendly company for seven years in a row.
Verizon also provides special offers and discounts to veterans and military members across the nation, allowing them to save on mobile or home internet plans. To check for discount eligibility and to get started, visit verizon.com/military

How to buy the Nintendo Switch 2: Current in-stock availability on consoles and games
The Nintendo Switch 2 is finally a thing you can buy in the US — or at least, something you can try to buy. The $450 console officially went up for sale at midnight ET on June 5, with several retailers offering the device both online and in-store. Predictably, online stock appears to have dried up fairly quickly and remains spotty as of Thursday morning. But if you haven't managed to secure an order yet, the hunt continues. To help you out, we've rounded up all the latest information we could find on how to buy the Nintendo Switch 2 at launch and any restocks that may pop up. Walmart opened up purchases online at midnight, but both the standard console and the Mario Kart World bundle are out of stock as of our latest update. Naturally, the world's largest retailer is selling the console at its brick-and-mortar locations as well. The company has noted that quantities are limited and inventory will vary by location, but it's worth checking if any store near you still has devices available. GameStop held launch events starting on Wednesday and is advertising in-store availability, though again this will vary by location. Anecdotally, Engadget's Cherlynn Low was able to acquire the console at a GameStop store in New York City on Thursday morning and was told by a staffer that each location had "about 50 units of inventory." As we write this, the device is unavailable on GameStop's website. A $625 bundle that includes a microSD Express card and a few other accessories was available for a bit longer than the standard SKUs, though it's since gone out of stock (and it's kind of scummy anyway). Target began selling the Switch 2 in stores on June 5 and may still have stock available this morning, so it's worth looking into the locations closest to you. The retailer says it'll restock online inventory in the early morning on June 6, while supplies last. Best Buy held midnight launch events as well and said it'd have limited stock at its retail locations. It is not selling the console online during launch week, however. You may have more luck at certain membership-based retailers, if restocks this morning are any indication. A Mario Kart World bundle at Costco that includes a 12-month Switch Online membership has gone in and out of stock, while Sam's Club has had a bundle without the Switch Online sub available as well. You'll need a membership to check on either of those, though. We've also seen online stock at BJ's, but those listings are unavailable as of our most recent update. Verizon briefly had the Switch 2 available earlier on Thursday, but that appears to have dried up, and only those with Verizon service were able to order. As of now, Amazon is the only major retailer that doesn't have some form of a Nintendo Switch 2 listing on its website. The company also did not take any pre-orders for the Switch 2, so it's unclear if and when it will sell the device. Newegg has a Switch 2 listing for several weeks now, but it hasn't started sales just yet. With all of these stores, note that we've generally seen the Mario Kart World bundle available in greater quantities online than the base console, which costs $50 less. Considering that's the Switch 2's biggest launch game and that it retails for $80 on its own, though, that may not be the worst thing. Where to buy Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle: Where to buy Switch 2: Naturally, Nintendo is selling a bunch of new first-party accessories for the Switch 2, most of which became available on June 5 along with the console. Same thing goes for games such as Mario Kart World and the Switch 2 edition of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom . Another big Switch 2 title, Donkey Kong Bananza , won't be available until mid-July. Still, you can currently pre-order games that are not out right now, so that you'll get them when they actually become available. As of Thursday morning, most Nintendo Switch 2 games remain widely available. Stock for the accessories is a little patchier, but most devices are generally in stock at certain retailers. Also note that, for Nintendo's own accessory listings, you'll need to have received an invite to purchase each item.
