Anthony Edwards viciously mocks Shannon Sharpe after taking out Lakers
Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards used Shannon Sharpe's words to troll the ESPN personality after Minnesota bounced the Lakers out of the NBA playoffs in Game 5 on Wednesday night.
Edwards mocked Sharpe's 'Lakers in 5' prediction after the underdog Timberwolves advanced to the second round with a 103-96 victory over Los Angeles.
'Ant man, Batman, Superman. Lakers in 5,' Edwards said while leaving Crypto.com Arena, as seen in a video on social media.

The NBA All-Star was seen smiling and counting on his fingers as he repeated Sharpe, who has since become a meme for his 'Lakers in 5' take, which includes him reciting random words that rhyme.
Edwards said the 'Lakers in 5' remark while doing an impromptu victory lap around the streets of Los Angeles after the game.

During a recent installment of his 'NightCap' podcast, Sharpe, who is Lakers fan and an avid LeBron James supporter, predicted the Lakers would eliminate the Wolves in five contests.
Sharpe – who stepped away from his ESPN duties after he was accused last month of rape by an OnlyFans model in a civil lawsuit — laughed about his whiff of a prediction during his 'NightCap' podcast, which was filmed right after the game Wednesday night.

'I was pressed for time, what I meant to say was Lakers going home in 5,' Sharpe quipped. 'That's what I meant, but y'all don't let me finish my thoughts, my sentences.
'If someone told me that Ant man was going to struggle shooting the ball tonight and they were going to win this game because Rudy Gobert was going to be one of the few guys in a playoff game to have a 20-20 game … Rudy Gobert came into the game averaging three points and six rebounds on the night.'

Edwards finished 5-of-19 shooting with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Gobert, the Timberwolves' center, dominated on both ends of the floor to defeat the small-ball Lakers, who are lacking depth at the center position.
The center had playoff career-highs with 27 points and 24 rebounds, scoring more points than he totaled in the first four games of the first-round series.

The Lakers lost in the first round for the second straight year, this time around with first-year head coach JJ Redick.
The Timberwolves will face the winner of the Warriors-Rockets series in the Western Conference semifinals.
Golden State has a 3-2 series lead, with Game 6 at Chase Center set for Friday night.

Suns Could Trade Kevin Durant to Texas Team 'Right Before' 2025 NBA Draft
Suns Could Trade Kevin Durant to Texas Team 'Right Before' 2025 NBA Draft originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Phoenix Suns are expected to trade Kevin Durant this offseason, and we're starting to get an idea of when a deal could go down. Advertisement According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports, the Suns could trade Durant "right before" the 2025 NBA draft. "I expect that a KD deal would happen right before the draft because you want to include draft capital in the deal," Gambadoro said. "So a KD trade would come up this month, sometime before the draft, probably close to the draft if it's gonna happen.' Durant, 36, has one year left on his contract. The superstar small forward will make $54.7 million next season. Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant could be on the move again approaching the NBA Scuteri-Imagn Images Not only did Gambadoro reveal when a Durant trade could happen, but the veteran NBA insider also reported the destination of the future Hall of Famer. Advertisement According to Gambadoro, Durant could be traded to the San Antonio Spurs. 'The team that I heard last night in speaking to somebody pretty close to the situation with KD is keep your eye on the Spurs,' Gambadoro said. 'KD could have some interest in the Spurs. 'That may be a good landing spot for him with (De'Aaron) Fox and (Victor) Wembanyama an up-and-coming team on the rise that has a great defensive anchor on their team and a terrific young player in Stephon Castle." Durant turns 37 in September. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season in 62 games while shooting 52.7 percent from the field, 43.0 percent from beyond the arc and 83.9 percent from the free-throw line. Three-Team NBA Trade Idea Sends Suns' Kevin Durant to Heat
Three-Team NBA Trade Idea Sends Suns' Kevin Durant to Heat originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat both had disappointing 2024-25 seasons. The Suns missed the playoffs and play-in tournament despite having Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. Mike Budenholzer was fired as head coach after just one year in the desert. Advertisement Meanwhile, the Heat were forced to trade Jimmy Butler after the All-Star requested a trade. Miami traded Butler to the Golden State Warriors. While the Heat made the playoffs this year, unlike the Suns, they were swept in the first round by the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Suns are widely expected to trade Durant this offseason and one NBA analyst believes the Heat should acquire the future Hall of Famer, who only has one year left on his contract. Sam Quinn of CBS Sports proposed the following three-team trade idea between the Suns, Heat and Portland Trail Blazers: Suns get: Andrew Wiggins, Robert Williams III, Nikola Jović, 2030 first-round pick, 2032 first-round pick Advertisement Heat get: Kevin Durant Trail Blazers get: Duncan Robinson Durant averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from beyond the arc and 83.9% from the free-throw line. He turns 37 in September. An NBA trade idea sending Kevin Durant from Phoenix to Miami has emerged. Jesse Johnson-Imagn Images "So, is Durant worth it? The answer is yes, at least if Kel'el Ware continues to grow as the team hopes," Quinn wrote. "That might not be the case if the Boston Celtics were still at full power, but, with apologies to the Indiana Pacers, the Eastern Conference throne is vacant right now. "There is no obvious juggernaut holding it. A team built around Tyler Herro, Durant and Bam Adebayo would have a real chance to seize it. That chance would rise significantly if Ware takes a major step or if the shooting Davion Mitchell showed with the Heat last season persists. Miami always develops depth." Advertisement Durant has career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns. KD won two championships and two Finals MVPs with the Warriors but hasn't gotten back to the NBA Finals since leaving Golden State for Brooklyn in 2019. It will be fascinating to see where Durant is playing next season. He was linked to the Heat at the February NBA trade deadline.
