Not just a black screen anymore, Vision AI is a quantum leap for us: Samsung India's VD business head Viplesh Dang explains how the company's 2025 range of televisions is changing
The three pillars of Samsung's Vision AI TVs
How the Vision AI TVs are solving the obsolescence problem with televisions
Samsung says it's committed to bring the technology for all at the right price
"Vision AI is a quantum leap for us. It transforms televisions into adaptive hubs that are responsive to their environment and user behaviors, making the TV an intelligent partner rather than just a display," says Viplesh Dang, Senior Director and Head of Visual Display Business, Samsung India , discussing the company's latest innovation in television technology.Samsung's new Vision AI technology is revolutionising how consumers interact with their televisions, offering unprecedented personalisation and intuitive features that adapt to individual viewing habits and environments.Launched today across Samsung's 2025 lineup of Neo QLED 8K, Neo QLED 4K, OLED, and QLED TVs, Vision AI rests on three fundamental pillars: AI Mode , AI Experience , and Multi-Device Connectivity ."AI Mode covers picture quality and sound optimisation. It automatically adjusts picture settings based on the genre of content and detects the brightness in your surroundings to optimize viewing," Dang explains. "For sound, there are two components: adaptive volume and adaptive sound. The system studies your habits, if you prefer watching news at volume level 20, it adapts accordingly. Adaptive sound differentiates between background music and dialogue so you can hear everything clearly."This intelligent adaptation extends to India's diverse content ecosystem, from cricket broadcasts to regional cinema. The NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, powering Samsung's flagship Neo QLED 8K model, employs 768 AI neural networks to analyze and enhance content in real-time.The second pillar, AI Experience, brings novel interactive capabilities. "There are very unique features we're introducing this year," Dang highlights. "Universal gestures allow you to control the TV with hand movements. If you're cooking while watching TV and miss a scene, you can simply rewind or pause with a gesture of your hand."Another standout feature is generative wallpaper . "It's not a black screen anymore. You can create a party mood or celebration atmosphere just by entering keywords, and the TV suggests various wallpapers to match," Dang says. The third pillar focuses on multi-device connectivity, transforming the television into a central hub for the smart home. "With SmartThings integration , your TV becomes a command center for connected living," Dang explains. "You can use your mobile as a remote, or even as a karaoke system without needing a separate microphone."For families, Vision AI introduces thoughtful capabilities. " Pet and Family Care Mode provides peace of mind by detecting unusual activities of pets or family members and automatically adjusting home settings for added comfort," explains Dang. "It can detect events such as a dog barking or a baby crying, alerting users when attention is needed."Samsung has addressed consumer concerns about obsolescence with an industry-leading commitment. "This year we're bringing seven years of OS upgrades, free of cost," Dang announces. "What's happening right now is people think that today they're buying, but tomorrow new features will come. By offering seven years of upgrades, we're reconfirming to consumers that their Vision AI TV will keep evolving throughout its lifecycle."Security remains paramount alongside innovation. "All these TVs have Knox security , which safeguards consumer information," Dang notes. "In addition to safety, we are providing delight to the consumer."The company has made its advanced technology accessible across various price points. "Our Vision AI series starts from 43-inch and goes up to 115 inches. Pricing starts from Rs 49,490 for 43-inch models and goes up to Rs 11 lakhs for 100-inch displays," Dang reveals. "We are committed to selling the latest technology at the right price."As market conditions remain challenging, Samsung sees Vision AI as a growth driver. "2024 has been a tough year for everyone, but we're happy to share that we've preserved our top line. This year, with this exciting lineup of Vision AI, we'll be able to grow further," Dang concludes with confidence.

Samsung to start deleting inactive accounts soon: Here's how to stop it
Samsung, the South Korean tech giant, has decided to permanently delete all accounts that have been inactive for 24 months as a new move to ensure better data protection. Emails are being sent out to the IDs associated with users' Samsung accounts with a personalized date mentioned on each of them. If the user fails to take any action by the specified date, their account and all data associated with it will be permanently deleted by the company. This new 'inactive Samsung account policy' is aimed at preventing the personal data of users from being tampered with due to prolonged periods of inactivity which could increase risks of leakage. Data from your Google Account will still be secure since that is completely separate from a Samsung account. 'As per our service's policy, your data in Samsung Cloud including data stored in Smart TV, Family Hub, and Galaxy Wearable will be deleted,' the email reads. All such warning messages to intimate customers about this move will be sent before July 31. Since Samsung accounts are required to access any Galaxy device, it's fairly staple for all customers of the company to have one. If you wish to protect your data from being erased, simply log in to your account using a Galaxy device once again to inform the system that you are still an active user and wish to continue with your previous account. If you fail to do so by the date mentioned in your warning email, the company will consider that you no longer wish to receive the data stored on your previous account and delete all such material. Make sure you are still logged into the email associated with your Samsung account, otherwise you may never receive the warning mail. For those using a secondary Samsung account, the same procedure applies. If you switched to another mobile brand but wish to keep your hold account intact, make sure you log into it once before the assigned deadline.
