Tyrese Haliburton makes NBA playoffs history in Pacers vs Knicks Game 4

Express Tribune4 days ago

Tyrese Haliburton delivered a historic triple-double to power the Indiana Pacers past the New York Knicks 130–121 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals on Tuesday, giving Indiana a commanding 3–1 lead in the best-of-seven series.
Haliburton finished with 32 points, 15 assists, and 12 rebounds without committing a single turnover — a first in NBA playoff history since the league began tracking turnovers in 1977–78.
"I was just trying to be aggressive," Haliburton said post-game. "I felt like I let the team down in Game 3. I could have been so much better. I felt like I responded the right way today."
The point guard's performance came in front of his father, John Haliburton, who returned to Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the first time since an incident involving Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo in Round 1.
Indiana also welcomed former Pacers stars Jermaine O'Neal, George Hill, and Lance Stephenson, alongside celebrities Triple H, 50 Cent, John Mellencamp, and Jelly Roll.
Across the floor, Knicks supporters Spike Lee, Timothée Chalamet, and Ben Stiller watched on as the Pacers took control early.
Pascal Siakam added 30 points while Bennedict Mathurin scored 20 off the bench. Indiana shot 51% from the field and 40.6% from deep.
'Just getting back to us,' said forward Aaron Nesmith. 'Playing our game and doing what we do best.'
From Haliburton's 14 assists, the Pacers scored 33 points on 63% shooting. His zero-turnover game drew praise from coach Rick Carlisle.
'It's pretty remarkable,' Carlisle said. 'There will be a new statistical category, perhaps, named after him somewhere down the line.'
The series now shifts back to New York for Game 5 on Thursday, with Indiana just one win away from its first NBA Finals appearance since 2000.

The moment that stole the spotlight, however, came when NBA legend and TNT analyst Charles Barkley warmly embraced Chalamet courtside—while seemingly ignoring Jenner, who stood right next to the actor. The moment sparked quick reactions online, with fans debating whether it was an accidental oversight or a pointed snub. Charles Barkley: "Thank you for taking care of my boy, Ernie [Johnson]." Timothee Chalamet: "I'm trying." 🤝 (via @NBAonTNT) — ClutchPoints (@ClutchPoints) May 30, 2025 Despite previously showing support for the Los Angeles Lakers, Chalamet has become a regular at Knicks playoff games alongside Jenner. The couple even shared a moment of public affection during the game, underscoring their growing visibility as a courtside duo. On the court, the Knicks delivered under pressure, defeating the Pacers 111–94 and forcing a Game 6. Jalen Brunson led the way with 32 points, continuing his remarkable postseason run. With that performance, he joined LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander as the only players to record at least 10 games with 30+ points and five assists in a single postseason. Game 6 is now set for Saturday in Indiana, with the Knicks hoping to tie the series. While the basketball action was intense, it was the celebrity moment between Barkley, Chalamet, and Jenner that left fans buzzing well beyond the final buzzer.

Messi stars as Miami rips Montreal

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez each scored two goals to spark Inter Miami to a 4-2 Major League Soccer victory over visiting Montreal on Wednesday. Argentine superstar Messi opened the scoring in the 27th minute and assisted on Suarez's first goal in the 68th minute for a 2-0 edge. Uruguayan star Suarez scored again in the 71st minute before Montreal's Dante Sealy answered in the 74th minute. Messi struck again in the 87th minute before Victor Loturi pulled one back from the Canadian club two minutes into stoppage time. Miami jumped to sixth in the Eastern Conference with seven wins and five drawn from 15 matches while East doormat Montreal slid to 1-10 with five drawn. Miami had lost twice and drawn twice in the past four matches. "We had to take responsibility for the poor results. It's a matter of correcting to regain confidence," said Suarez, who added the victory "means a lot ... We have to continue to gain confidence in this kind of game." Inter coach Javier Mascherano was concerned about injuries to defenders Gonzalo Lujan, Tomas Aviles and Jordi Alba. "We needed to cut the negative dynamic. I'm happy," he said. "Unfortunately (the victory) is tarnished by the departure of Gonzalo, Jordi and Toto. "In the case of Gonzalo and Jordi it was something muscular, which tomorrow we will see how far it is. In the case of 'Toto' it was the ankle that swelled in a stomp. Maybe he could continue. He wanted to continue." Overall league leader Philadelphia won 2-1 at Toronto as the Union rallied late after Norway's Ola Brynhildsen scored in the 75th minute. Nathan Harriel netted the equalizer for the Union in the 86th minute and Germany's Kai Wagner scored the game winner two minutes into stoppage time. The Union improved to 10-3-3 for a league-high 33 points while none of the three clubs just behind them on the table could manage full points, second-place Cincinnati drawing 3-3 with visiting Dallas and third-place Nashville drawing 2-2 at fourth-place Columbus.
