Blazers Hire Quinton Crawford as Assistant Coach
The Portland Trail Blazers have hired Quinton Crawford as an assistant coach on Chauncey Billups' staff, a league source confirmed to Blazer's Edge. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed. NBA insider Chris Haynes first reported the news. Advertisement Crawford was the head coach of the Stockton Kings this past season, guiding the club to the 2024-25 NBA G League championship in his first year on the job. Previously, Crawford worked as an NBA assistant coach for five seasons. The stretch included tenures with the Phoenix Suns (2023-24), Dallas Mavericks (2022-23) and Los Angeles Lakers (2019-22). Before joining the Lakers, Crawford served as the head video coordinator and player development coach with the Charlotte Hornets in 2018-19. He also spent a two-year stint with the Orlando Magic, serving as head video coordinator with a role in player development in 2017-18 and as an assistant video coordinator in 2016-17. Crawford started his NBA career as an assistant video coordinator with the Sacramento Kings in 2015-16. Crawford played college basketball at Middlesex Community College from 2008-10 in Edison, New Jersey, before playing for the Arizona Wildcats from 2011-13. He began his post-playing career as a graduate manager and video exchange coordinator for the men's basketball program at Pepperdine University for two seasons from 2013-15. The news of Crawford's hiring Saturday coincided with the news that the Blazers are re-signing assistant coaches Nate Bjorkgren and Ronnie Burrell, as well as analytics coach Jacob Mooallem.
