Fire crews tackled a blaze at Luton Town's Kenilworth Road stadium on Friday night. The fire started in the laundry room at the ground ahead of the Hatters' Championship clash against Coventry City on Saturday.
Pictures emerged on social media of the fire, leading to speculation the fixture could be in doubt. Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue were called to tackle the blaze. But the Hatters moved to allay any fears the match could be cancelled and said the fire had been contained.
The club said in a statement: "We would like to advise supporters that following reports of an incident at Kenilworth Road this evening, there is no disruption to tomorrow's fixture with Coventry City taking place.
"Smoke was found to be coming from a small appliance that had caught fire in the stadium's laundry room, which was contained within that area and has been dealt with swiftly to prevent any substantial damage.
"We would like to offer a huge thank you to Beds Fire & Rescue for their quick intervention, along with club partners and staff who are also on site to help resolve the issue and ensure that everything is now safe."
Saturday's match is a crucial one at both ends of the Championship table. Despite back-to-back wins, Luton are still staring down the barrel of a second successive relegation after a nightmare return to the second tier.
The Hatters dropped out of the Premier League after a solitary season in the top flight, which came courtesy of victory over Saturday's visitors Coventry in the playoff final at Wembley.
Luton sit 22nd, inside the relegation zone by virtue of goal difference, with just two fixtures of the season remaining. They travel to the Hawthorns to face West Brom on the final weekend.
Coventry, meanwhile, are eyeing a first return to the Premier League since their relegation in 2001. They have enjoyed a remarkable turnaround under Frank Lampard after the Chelsea icon replaced Mark Robins in the CBS Stadium dugout earlier this season.
That run of form has seen them storm their way into playoff contention, and the sit in sixth, three points clear of seventh-placed Middlesbrough, ahead of their trip to Luton.
But the Sky Blues do face Boro on the final day of the season, meaning three points could be critical on Saturday.

But it is hoped he will be able to start an individual rehabilitation programme in the coming months, working individually on the grass during pre-season. The aim will be for Martinez to make his return as soon as possible in the 2025/26 season, when United's team will look very different. Amorim is keen to overhaul his squad – and the club will listen to offers for any of their players – but the United boss is a fan of Martinez. "If you let him, he can go play today without problem," Amorim said in March after Martinez was spotted cheering his team-mates on from the sidelines against Arsenal. "Because he loves the club, he wants to help the team, he understands the context. Like I said, he's a great character, he's really important in the dressing room." The 27-year-old has also been praised for his leadership and encouragement by young midfielder Toby Collyer, who told the club website: 'Licha is another name that's massively helped me, in training every day, around the building, to express myself, giving me little tips on the pitch and helping me through games. He's another one that's really helped me.' Collyer also struggled with injuries, so spent lots of time with Martinez. 'We saw each other every day in the physio room,' he added. 'And even when we're working in the gym, you have little moments where you can chat for a bit. It's nice to have someone like him to get through it with.' Martinez is keen to return as soon as possible. After undergoing surgery he wrote on Instagram: "Today, after going through several stormy days where I allowed myself to feel and accept my sadness, helplessness, insecurities, fears, and a deep emotional imbalance, I am reconnecting with my essence and my values, which help me see things from a kinder and more positive perspective. "I feel immense gratitude for the incredible work and support of @manchesterunited, @afaseleccion, my family, friends, teammates, and everyone who took the time to send me a message of encouragement. Manchester United are continuing to work on a possible deal to bring Bryan Mbeumo to Old Trafford but could face competition from a Premier League rival. United offered Brentford £55million for the 25-year-old earlier this week, but the bid was rejected. A second offer is believed to be imminent, but United risk being foiled by a familiar foe. That is because Tottenham Hotspur — who beat United in last month's Europa League final, thus denying Ruben Amorim 's team a place in next season's Champions League — are also keen on Mbeumo. Newcastle — who will join Spurs in the Champions League after finishing fifth in the Premier League — have also expressed interest in Mbeumo. But Mbeumo made it clear to Newcastle that he would rather move to Old Trafford. It is understood that the salary on offer at United will be higher than what Spurs will put forward should their interest be formalised. However, Spurs may have a trump card because they are also plotting a move for Brentford manager Thomas Frank this summer. Frank is the current favourite to replace Ange Postecoglou, who was sacked earlier this week — just 16 days after Tottenham won their first trophy in 17 years. Mbeumo has an excellent relationship with Frank, who signed him from Troyes in the French second division in 2019. Since joining for a £5.8m transfer fee, Mbeumo has scored 70 goals in 242 games for Brentford, including 42 in 136 Premier League matches.
