Remove Ads The Cursed Child's Ongoing Impact In a move that has sparked both excitement and skepticism, British actor Tom Felton is stepping back into the role that made him a household name—Draco Malfoy. But this time, it's not for the screen. After more than a decade since the final Harry Potter film, Felton is returning to the franchise via Broadway, starring in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Felton will reprise his role in the stage adaptation of J.K. Rowling's wizarding universe at New York's Lyric Theatre starting November 11, for a strictly limited 19-week run. The play is set 19 years after the events of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and follows Harry Potter's son, Albus Severus Potter, as he grapples with the weight of his family legacy. Draco, now a father himself, appears as an older man dealing with parenthood and unresolved complexities from his return was announced in a coordinated post across the official Harry Potter and Harry Potter Broadway social media pages, featuring a video of Felton dressed in a black suit, platinum blonde wig, and a wand tucked in his pocket. He delivered the memorable line, 'Scared, Potter?', igniting a wave of reactions from fans expressed his enthusiasm, calling this moment 'full-circle' and acknowledging that he is now the same age as Draco Malfoy is in the play. Producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender emphasized the significance of the casting, describing it as a moment steeped in nostalgia and emotional resonance for fans across some fans embraced the casting with open arms, others were less enthusiastic. A portion of the audience questioned whether Felton was the right fit, given the long time that has passed since the original films. One fan commented, 'Isn't he too old for that role?', while others jokingly suggested he's now better suited to portray Draco's father, Lucius many celebrated the move, with comments like 'Whaaaaaaaat? I need to book tickets now!!' and 'Broadway's about to get a serious dose of Slytherin charm.' Some long-time Potterheads also expressed hope for a full original cast reunion, even as they acknowledged the absence of those who have passed casting comes on the heels of HBO's announcement of a rebooted Harry Potter television series with a new trio stepping into the shoes of Harry, Hermione, and Ron. This renewed interest in the wizarding world has kept the franchise alive and Felton had once auditioned for the roles of both Harry Potter and Ron Weasley before landing the part of Draco Malfoy at age 12. Reflecting on his bond with co-stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, Felton has often spoken of the genuine friendship they shared Potter and the Cursed Child has become the highest-grossing non-musical play in Broadway history, drawing millions of fans worldwide since its premiere in London in 2016. With productions also running in Hamburg, Tokyo, and London, the play has solidified its place in the extended with Tom Felton bringing Draco back to life in a new medium, the line between nostalgia and reinvention continues to blur—delighting some fans while leaving others embraced or criticized, Felton's return proves one thing: the magic of Harry Potter still casts a powerful spell.

UK woman swoons over India's garbage truck jingle

Credit: X/@sociallywanderful India's music scene is known for producing some absolute bangers — from Bollywood hits to indie chart-toppers. But for one British woman, the song that stole her heart wasn't playing in a nightclub or movie — it was blaring from a garbage truck. Deanna Leigh, a 23-year-old travel vlogger from the UK, recently went viral after posting a hilarious and wholesome video about falling in love with India's municipal waste collection jingle. The tune? The familiar 'Swachh Bharat ka irada, irada kar liya humne…' — instantly recognizable across the country as the anthem of cleanliness drives and, more commonly, the soundtrack to your local trash van. 'I kept hearing it in Jodhpur and thought it was just a really catchy morning song people liked,' Deanna admitted in her video, laughing at her mistake. 'I had no idea it was announcing garbage pickup!' In the clip, a garbage truck can be seen rolling down the street as the upbeat jingle plays, while Deanna listens in, clearly amused and unexpectedly impressed. In her caption, she wrote: 'My new favourite song in India! At one point, this was all I would hear in the mornings. I had no clue what it meant… but damn, what a banger!' She first heard the tune while traveling through Rajasthan and Agra, where different versions are commonly played by municipal vans. 'Each city has its own tune, but this one was my favourite,' she added. And now? She's seriously considering bringing the concept home. 'Can we use this back in the UK? I think it might make bin days 10 times better,' she joked. Deanna's reaction has struck a chord with Indian netizens, who are both entertained and oddly proud. One user commented, 'Honestly, it's a banger.' A second user wrote, 'This song was a nightmare and an alarm for me for 7 straight years.' However a third user noted that his personal favourite is another OG song. He wrote, 'Nobody can beat the OG song though: 'Kude wala aaya ghr se khachra nikaal.'
