Tokyo Textile Scope (TTS) 2026 Spring/Summer
The newly launched comprehensive textile exhibition Tokyo Textile Scope (TTS) 2026 Spring/Summer, organized by JFW (Japan Fashion Week Organization) Textile Division, will be held from May 14 to 16 at the Tokyo Metropolitan Industrial Trade Center Hamamatsucho-Kan, utilising the entire venue.
For this first edition, we have planned , a special feature introducing materials and case studies from startups engaged in new product development and business expansion. Additionally, we are launching , a series that highlights the strengths and appeal of Japan's textile-producing regions. (This time, denim will be featured). The popular textile voting event, will also continue, further energising business negotiations at the exhibition.

Language no longer a barrier at railways: BHASHINI and CRIS sign MoU; Will offer multilingual AI solutions
In a major push to break language barriers for millions of passengers, the Digital India Bhashini Division (DIBD) and the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to integrate BHASHINI's advanced language technologies into key passenger-facing platforms. The MoU was signed on Monday by Amitabh Nag, CEO of BHASHINI, and GVL Satya Kumar, managing director of CRIS. The collaboration will bring BHASHINI's language tools to CRIS managed services like the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) and RailMadad. These tools include automatic speech recognition (ASR), text-to-text translation, text-to-speech (TTS), and optical character recognition (OCR), a press release by the ministry of electronics and IT said. The aim of this initiative is to ensure that passengers can access critical railway information and services in 22 Indian languages, removing language as a barrier for millions of daily users. This will enhance accessibility, transparency, and efficiency in our passenger-facing services.' Beyond just translation, the partnership will also work on co-developing multilingual chatbots and voice assistants for real-time passenger support. Plans are in place to roll out these tools across railway websites, mobile apps, kiosks, and even call centres. Over-the-counter enquiry counters will also be equipped with multilingual digital interfaces. The rollout will be supported by both cloud-based and on-premise infrastructure, with technical workshops and pilot deployments expected to begin shortly. This initiative falls in line with the vision of Digital India and further strengthens the country's global leadership in language AI. The collaboration will focus on key programmes including YuvaAI empowers (for school students); StartupAI (for startups); and IndiaAI Dialogues (for public sector leaders and policy practitioners). It will also enable Bhashini to scale to remote classrooms across India on AI.

Jal Shakti team visits Vizianagaram for water project review
Vizianagaram: A Central team from the Jal Shakti Abhiyan visited Vizianagaram district on Wednesday to assess local water resources and understand ground-level conditions. The team paid a courtesy visit to District Collector Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and briefed him on their schedule and objectives. The team informed the Collector that they would be visiting the Thotapalli and Tarakarama Teertha Sagar (TTS) projects. They also planned to interact with beneficiaries of the Jal Jeevan Mission in Kota Gandredu village. During the interaction, Collector Dr. B.R. Ambedkar emphasized that Vizianagaram is a backward district and urged the team to recommend increased central funding for pending water infrastructure projects. Explaining the status of the Tarakarama Teertha Sagar project, the Collector said that although proposals worth ₹800 crore had been submitted, only ₹100 crore had been sanctioned so far. He noted that Relief and Rehabilitation (R&R) payments were still pending and stressed that the release of the remaining funds was essential to meet the district's developmental goals. He explained the importance of supplying 5 MLD (Million Litres per Day) of water to the Bhogapuram International Airport, providing drinking water to Vizianagaram Municipality, and ensuring irrigation for 25,000 acres of farmland in the Nellimarla, Gurla, Pusapatirega, and Denkada mandals. The Collector also highlighted the need for additional funding under the Jal Jeevan Mission. In response, the visiting officials assured him that the district should submit detailed project estimates and proposals, which would then be forwarded to the Central Government for further recommendation and approval.
