Big Brother to Return in July for ‘Biggest Season Ever' (With Friday Episodes!) — Get Premiere Date

Yahoo14-05-2025

CBS is really putting the 'big' in Big Brother this summer.
In addition to sharing a Season 27 premiere date for its annual reality staple — Thursday, July 10, at 8/7c — the network on Wednesday revealed new details about the upcoming cycle (dubbed the 'biggest season ever'), which will feature extended episodes and a new Friday installment.

Following its 90-minute season premiere on July 10, Big Brother will air a 90-minute episode on Sunday, July 13 (8 pm), then will settle into its usual Wednesday-Thursday-Sunday schedule. But in an expect-the-unexpected twist, all Wednesday episodes will be 90 minutes long throughout the season, instead of the usual hour; Thursdays (featuring live evictions) and Sundays will stay put at one hour each.
Additionally, the show is introducing Big Brother: Unlocked, which will air every other Friday starting July 25 at 8 pm. In this new companion series, three Big Brother All-Stars will offer 'never-before-seen broadcast footage from the house, exclusive interviews, surprise guest appearances and unprecedented behind-the-scenes access,' per the official description. 'Former houseguests share firsthand insight and expertise as they analyze gameplay, assess the competition and give their insider's perspective.'
If all of that has made your head spin, here's this summer's Big Brother schedule in list form:
THURSDAY, JULY 108 pm Season 27 premiere (90 minutes)
SUNDAY, JULY 138 pm XL Sunday episode (90 minutes)
WEDNESDAY, JULY 168 pm XL Wednesday episode (all Wednesdays will be 90 minutes)
THURSDAY, JULY 178 pm Regular Thursday premiere (60 minutes)
SUNDAY, JULY 208 pm Regular Sunday premiere (60 minutes)
FRIDAY, JULY 258 pm Big Brother: Unlocked premiere (airing every other Friday)
Julie Chen Moonves will return as host for Big Brother's 27th season; the full roster of new houseguests will be announced at a later date.

See Keanu Reeves' hilarious reaction to being straddled by Jonathan Groff at 2025 Tony Awards

Keanu Reeves had a gleeful reaction to Jonathan Groff's performance. The 'Mindhunter' alum, 40, performed a medley from 'Just in Time' while at the 2025 Tony Awards on Sunday at Radio City Music Hall and took his number to the next level when he decided to straddle the 'John Wick' star, 60 mid-tune. The 'Glee' star hopped off the stage and into the crowd before finding Reeves, standing on both of the armrests of the actor's chair and singing from the top of his lungs. 7 Jonathan Groff performs a number from 'Just in Time' onstage during The 78th Annual Tony Awards. 'The Matrix' star then hilariously did two fist pumps and made the rocker sign with his hands in a video shared by E! News. Groff was nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical category for the show 'Just in Time,' which was based on the life of late singer Bobby Darin, but lost to Darren Criss for his part in 'Maybe Happy Ending.' Also nominated for the award were Andrew Durand ('Dead Outlaw'), Tom Francis ('Sunset Blvd.'), James Monroe Iglehart ('A Wonderful World: The Louis Armstrong Musical'), and Jeremy Jordan in 'Floyd Collins.' 7 Jonathan Groff performs his musical number on Keanu Reeves. CBS In April, Groff opened up about channeling Bobby Darin in the musical. 'I was completely taken by Bobby's primal ferocity, even on these old black-and-white clips of him performing,' he told Vogue at the time. 'There was a real presence and passion. This wasn't just a rock-and-roll guy or a crooner singing songs. There was real connection in his performance style.' 'I knew I wanted to start the show as myself and break the fourth wall with the audience to create that connection that Bobby was really famous for—the vibe that we're all here today, in this present moment, and anything can happen,' Groff added about the musical. 'I'm trying to evoke this real love affair between performer and audience, and that's where the conceit of the show came from and continues to live.' 7 Jonathan Groff and Keanu Reeves at the 2025 Tony Awards. CBS The Broadway vet also did a deep dive into Darin's performances on YouTube, and one in particular helped him capture the spirit of the singer. 'There's a clip of him singing 'Once Upon a Time' that I remember watching on that night, and I can't even say 'acting,' because it's not like he was acting, but it was so deeply felt,' Groff explained to the outlet. 'He was not singing a song on a TV show; he was communicating something really deep, and watching that come through was really amazing.' 'Then, in the later years, on his TV specials, he would do these duets with women, with Dusty Springfield and Petula Clark, and they would sit on stools and sing with their faces so close to each other. He was so intimate and present. I remember being really pulled in by that.' 7 Keanu Reeves reacts to Jonathan Groff's performance. CBS 7 Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves speak onstage during The 78th Annual Tony Awards. Getty Images for Tony Awards Productions Reeves, meanwhile, surprised fans when he and Alex Winter announced they are set to star in a upcoming revival of Samuel Beckett's 'Waiting for Godot.' Winter, 59, told People on the red carpet that he and Reeves 'wanted to work together' again after starring in the iconic 'Bill & Ted' films. The actor added they have 'known each other a very long time,' which works for 'a play about two people who have known each other a very long time. … And Keanu had this crazy, inspired idea that suddenly turned into reality, for both of us.' 7 Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter. Getty Images for Tony Awards Productions Reeves' Broadway debut will see him portraying Estragon, while Winter, who starred in the stage production of 'The King and I' in 1977 and then in 'Peter Pan' in 1979, is taking on Vladimir. 'I think every time the play is done, it's different, because of who's playing it,' Winter explained. 'It's very, very personal, and so we're bringing ourselves to it.'

Tom Ellis Previews Latest FBI Offshoot, His CIA Agent's ‘Large Dose of Moral Ambiguity' — Watch Video

Tom Ellis' character in CBS' CIA sounds like a bit of a devil. CBS' upcoming 'expansion' of the FBI universe (airing Mondays at 10/9c this fall) is centered on two unlikely partners — a fast-talking, rule-breaking loose cannon CIA case officer (played by Lucifer vet Ellis), and a yet-to-be-cast by-the-book, seasoned and smart FBI agent who believes in the rule of law. EP Previews 'Negotiations' Ahead 'When this odd couple is assigned to work out of CIA's New York Station,' the official synopsis reads, 'they must learn to work together to investigate cases and criminals posing threats on U.S. soil, finding that their differences may actually be their strength.' Speaking with TVLine at CBS' recent Upfront event, Ellis said that CIA will take its cue from 'the format set up on FBI' and 'explore the notion of why these agencies don't normally work together' — despite the fact that the events of 9/11 suggested that the Agency and Bureau should share more information. Ellis says that the unlikely partnership proves to be 'productive but also very difficult, because they have very different philosophies on how to achieve goals.' When we first meet Ellis' CIA agent, the British actor reveals, he is 'stuck in the 'boring' end of the job, on home soil in New York,' and thus perhaps is open to any set-up that gets him more action. All told, though, 'he is someone who has to use guile and deceit and lies to get what he wants,' Ellis shares. 'There's large dose of moral ambiguity that comes with him.' CIA is executive-produced by showrunner David Hudgins, FBI franchise overlord Dick Wolf, Nicole Perlman, David Chasteen and Peter Jankowski. Eriq La Salle will direct and exec-produce the first episode. An exact premiere date has not yet been set, but CIA will air Mondays at 10 pm, leading out of the FBI mothership.
