Drunk driver allegedly caused deadly crash while trying to race wife home from bar: police
A drunk driver allegedly crashed into an elderly woman's car, killing her, while trying to race his wife home from a Minnesota bar, according to police.
Aloysius Kenneth Johnson, who has a previous conviction for DUI, told police he'd had several vodka sodas with his wife at a bar in Andover on Friday when he got behind the wheel of his Ford F-350, according to a criminal complaint obtained by KARE 11.
His wife told cops she thinks he was 'trying to beat her home' when he sped off — with his car soon found crashed into a Kia Soul.
The other driver, Alice Marie Stack, 74, was pulled from the wreckage but died later at a hospital, according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.
3 Aloysius Johnson, 48, is charged with vehicular homicide.
The Ford driver fled the crash scene, with witnesses saying they saw him stumbling as he ran off toward some woods.
When sheriff's deputies soon found Johnson, 48, walking nearby, he smelled of alcohol, slurred his words, struggled to keep balance and had blood on his body and face, according to the complaint.

Johnson allegedly admitted to having three or four drinks — but said he had no memory of the crash, according to the report.
Johnson's wife soon arrived at the crash scene and confirmed that the Ford truck belonged to her husband.
She told police they had been eating at a bar where Johnson was drinking vodka sodas, and that she tried to get him to let her drive him home, according to the report.

But he instead on following her in his truck, she said, saying he then sped off in a different direction to try to beat her home, according to the complaint.
Johnson has a previous conviction for DUI, KARE reported, without giving details on that crime. He was charged Monday with one count of criminal vehicular homicide while under the influence of alcohol.
His bail was set at $400,000 without conditions — or $200,000 with them — with his next court date set for June 23, KSTP said.

Soldier killed pregnant wife with machete, dismembered her in HI, officials say
A soldier stationed in Hawaii admitted to killing and dismembering his pregnant wife in July 2024, Army officials said. Pfc. Dewayne Arthur Johnson II pleaded guilty during a court-martial in Hawaii to voluntary manslaughter and other charges in connection with the deaths of his wife, Mischa Johnson, and unborn child, according to a June 5 news release from the Army. Pfc. Johnson was ordered by a military judge to serve 23 years behind bars, which is the maximum, officials said. The 29-year-old also is to be reduced in rank and dishonorably discharged, according to officials. Mischa Johnson was six months pregnant when she was reported missing last summer from Oahu's Schofield Barracks, McClatchy News previously reported. In February, the Army Office of Special Trial Counsel referred several charges and specifications against Pfc. Johnson, according to a news release at the time. That meant he was headed toward a military trial. Under his plea agreement, the cavalry scout 'admitted to killing his wife and unborn child in the heat of passion by striking (his wife) in the head with a machete,' officials said. The couple had been fighting, 'and then things escalated to violence,' according to officials. Pfc. Johnson 'also provided specific details of his actions following their deaths, to include dismembering the bodies with a chainsaw and then using his car to transport the remains to a dumpster on Schofield Barracks,' according to officials. The remains 'have never been found and are presumed to have been transported to the island's trash incinerator,' officials said. Pfc. Johnson reported his wife missing about two weeks after he killed her, officials said, 'and (he) even participated with community search parties that spanned the island to look for her.' He was linked to the killing through DNA, blood and other evidence in their home, according to officials. Pfc. Johnson apologized during court proceedings, saying, 'My wife didn't deserve that. She wasn't trash,' Hawaii News Now reported. He also said that, 'I failed as a husband. I failed as a father and I failed as a man. … I'll forever be sorry,' per the outlet. Pfc. Roundtop woman killed in crash southwest of Brenham
Brenham, Tx (FOX44) – A 63-year-old woman has died following a fiery crash in rural Washington County southwest of Brenham. The Department of Public Safety reports Rebecca Mayer of Round Top as pronounced dead at a hospital following the crash that occurred about 5:35 p.m. on Farm to Market Road 389 near FM 2502. DPS Sgt Justin Ruiz said Mayer was the driver of a 2023 Kia Soul that as going east on FM 389 when a 2015 Ford F150 pickup going west began a left hand turn, with the Kia striking it in the side.
